Hmm..first softer hair, harder jacket, then tough hair with softer jacket – but the same stance in both. I think I like earlier look better but it's great to try new things!
Its like looking at two different people. She is definetly amazing in any look. But she has certaintly got to return to her previous one. Love her huge eyes and her leather jacket.
I can't get over the difference in her personality from one to the other. Looks like an older sister in the first, as if she has grown up. As to the style, great in both.
I agree with dana. I probably like the style better in the second/older photo, but her eyes look so much happier in the first/newer photo and that completely changes everything. Happiness is far more attractive than a beautiful dress.
I love the fact that she looks so different, yet so the same. I mean you can still tell its her style and her, but she has changed all the same as well.
Her "then" photo was definitely sexy with attitude. Her "now" photo is so refreshing. There's so much clarity in her new style it's almost preppy. It's just much cleaner. I hope she alternates. I think people should always change themselves; it surprises people.
Her eyes look so seriously bored in the first image and so doefully awake in the second. It's great that her style between the two shots can't be compartmentalized. She's very striking!!!
So cool ;) now she looks woken up! Relating to her sense of expression… her presence (and may I add, my opinion is that in the current photo – her simple ensemble does not diminish her individuality or appeal). x
My goodness, that's more than a style change, it's an attitude change — there is a real smile on that face which makes whatever she's wearing look great.
It truly is ALL in the attitude. The sparkle in her eye, in the first photo is so subtly charming. The blue gleaning of her eyes, with her facial roundness, effortlessly pouted lips, chopped hair and that buttoned collar, she strikes me with a welcoming youthful charm; this integral feeling to what ever and where ever she's going with her day… and to wonder… what she's reading…
And in the progression, well we may not be so quick to answer… but I wonder if she broke into laughter after she was photographed.
I prefer her second look, because it looks more confident and very cool.. what did she do with her hair? It looks so different? Like she had her hair permed.
Her cute new hairstyle is Vika inspired perhaps? I like her old look alot too, looking at them together its like two sisters, the studious one and the party girl!
Would love it if you did more of these "year apart" pieces – with folks of many different ages/periods in their life: pre-divorce; post-divorce…
In the older shot, she looks like she hasn't quite grasped the chalice, or set her compass; in the second, she is grounded, clear-eyed, and ready for biz.
Amusing and entertaining because I'd bet you're getting viscerally polar takes on this pair.
This is what I'm talking about. Why do these people purposely try to make themselves out to be uglier than they are? It makes no sense. Here is an article I wrote about the subject on my site http://www.stepsofthemet.com
The article is titled "the dilemma" Here is the link:
Such a stunning young woman, but I'm surprised so many people prefer the earlier look instead of the later, more sophisticated look. I see no "edge" in the earlier look: it's a bit too predictable. She's getting smarter with her choices. Good for her!
She's adorable in both photos but somehow I like the recent one more. She appears far more self assured now with the way she looks, clear eyed and amused, straight down the lens of the camera rather than peaking out in an almost bored way from behind her hair as she did a year ago. This young woman looks ready for any adventure, a willing, engaged, joyful participant in life.
Now less to prove and more to do…the tough girl wants to be taken seriously. She still has the edge with the "popped" collar, crossed arms and even moreso with the straight glance now.
I lke her in both pictures but the hair really compliments her in the "now" one… It gives her face such a geometrical character that makes her beautiful face stand out… imagine the first pic with the new hair and you'll see what i mean. BTW she's holding the book!! :D
if I was not looking at her expression in each then I would probably prefer her older look… but for me the newer photograph looks so much more appealing because of her head-on gaze into the camera. it's as if the photographs are of two twins with completely opposite styles!
both looks are so classically cool but her now look shows that she has matured in her style this year. Love how shes holding her arms the same way in both pictures
lovely how she's progressed but i can see retention of elements. that's what personal evolution is all abt. did u shoot her in a similar pose intentionally though?
