Love the highlights from this show and the addition of the actors in the show is a nice touch. There seems to be an Indian Raj-inspired movement afoot. Thanks for the great photos Scott.

Loved that Gary Oldman stayed in character. I love that style, but was the presentation a bit too Nazi inspired? It was the graphics on the floor, a couple of the pins on the jackets, and if there was just one non Caucasian, I would have made me feel better.
Holy cow,
Willem Defoe has the most amazing look. Hasn’t changed EVER but is always a treat to look at.
Prada’s really having some fun with their style. I enjoy this.
The older model guy is so sexy!!!! Why can’t guys look like that out on the street!!!! That is so much better then just a suit or a pair of jeans. Love the longer sleeves, and the longer pants length. i think guys look sort of silly with their socks and wrists showing. This is badass!!!!!!!
LOVE the coats. Especially the red one on Adrien Brody. Very sexy and dapper. But, is it me or do the mustaches make the guys look a bit smarmy? Just tipping them over the “trying too hard” edge.
@ Karen, relax. I think Adrien Brody is actually of Jewish decent. So you can turn of the politically correct alarm. LOL. Its beautiful and dapper. So it can only encourage things in a good direction.
WOOOOWWWWW, GENIUS !!!!!!! Soo exciting, I can’t believe that this hasn’t been done before, it seems so obvious. Willem Dafoe….goosebumps. Could you imagine being there ??
Men’s Fashion exists, not silly experiments or clothes good only for magazine covers. In this ’800 red carpet, real Men wear wonderful dresses that any of us of could wear.
I’m seeing Edwardian / 1920′s inspiration, and very handsome indeed.
As an older gentleman it’s great to see presentations with models in my own age bracket. Sorry, but seeing a twenty year old wearing a $3500.00 jacket makes me whince. Especially given the fact that most twenty year old men wouldn’t be caught dead in the clothes. Namely because they are creating their own look which designers use as inspiration. So it’s confusing….
Please, someone just put M. Prada in a trunk and let me carry her everywhere.
Still trying to catch up for the Spring 2012 women’s collection.
PLEASE.
Tell me where to buy those clothes and jewlery?
All I see around the world of Prada stores are their selling shoes and bags…where are the clothes…those vintage cars skirts…chiffon shirts…
this is just… genious. i couldn’t think of three worthier actors for the job than dafoe, oldman and brody. and they look absolutely fantastic. stunned.
Actors on the catwalk is nothing new i guess, i remenber a comme de garcons-show in the late 1980ies/early 1990ies (i´m older, you see) with julian sands, john malkowich and peter weller (yes, “robocop”).
Nothing short of brilliant. I hope more designers will start to use a sprinkling of actors in their runway shows. It adds another element of drama while at the same time making the collection easier to conceptualize.
Finally a show that matches your photography. They picked 3 actors that are comfortable in the clothes, have the presence to match the venue, and a well conceived season of stylish and believable clothes.
Fab fashions! Those three actors have such gravity and depth in their expressions…they evoke an expectation upon their mere entrance into a room…great choices. Furthermore, great aspect and lighting on the shots, Sart! You do know how to draw the “beguile” out of your subjects with a quick snap of the shutter.
Men have it so easy, sling on a tailored suit and they automatically look perfectly sexy. I LOVE the subtle air of menace in the show! And you know some of those models have a certain je ne sais quoi…you know like I’ve seen them on the big screen LOL! I suppose one must keep busy in between scripts…:-)
They all look smashing. And I want one of those foulard coats! The one in the second photo would do nicely, thank you. (In the real world, I just might bust out the old vintage smoking jacket again…)
The clothes look even better if they are worn by men of different age than by only young models. It is more realistic and probably also boosts their sales. The idea behind all this might be : You always wanted to be like Oldman, Brody and Co?! Now you can by wearing Prada! http://madrilicious.com/
Gary Oldman & Adrien Brody were a pleasant surprise to an already wonderful show. Adrien Brody actually looks like he could even be a model and walk other shows, not just Prada!
I am speechless!
The real version of the man! It is pure classicism!
Now I can’t choose between Miuccia or Christopher Bailey. I choose both. they are amazing!
It was pretty great to see all those actors on the runway however, for us, it was quite miserable to stay in line until the last minute with no idea whether we would go step on the runway or not. And after the castings + fittings it was not the greatest feeling in the world!
I have always been, and am still at a loss as to why runway shots are not all taken from this angle. Whenever I see then collections shot head-on (standard) and then see the same looks posted here, I am floored. The difference and realism of the side-angle brings the clothes and the model (and thus the show) to life.
Obviously it makes sense that the majority of runway photos have to be taken head on, because that’s where the photographer pit is, at the end of the runway, but it baffles me that style.com (at least) doesn’t ever have any photos taken from a front row vantage. It seems like the editors AND designers would both want this to happen.
Oscar Wilde said: ” Either you are a masterpiece, or you wear it”
Here am afraid I cannot say.
Am speechless. I love those guys and the look in their faces. I love the aura of mystery of the place and of the clothes. I am thrilled by the sense that they’re all going to meet in some secret room and scheme.
Impressive! The Russian influence is used to great effect. Gary Oldman, Willem Dafoe and Adrien Brody look sharp. Very imperial. The jackets have some elegant details and really seem to suit the adult men- it brings to mind wealthy arisocrats.
The three actors STAND OUT to me the most. Stance, presence and character jump out at me from the screen. There seems to be a definitive story coming from them. Genius to use them!!
What I love best about this is that the actors showcase the collection much better than the “real” models. On the models, well, they look like young boys wrapped in fabric sacks, but on Oldman, Defoe, and Brody, these clothes look right- wearable, lush, retro, and masculine. Perfection!
“Loved that Gary Oldman stayed in character. I love that style, but was the presentation a bit too Nazi inspired? It was the graphics on the floor, a couple of the pins on the jackets, and if there was just one non Caucasian, I would have made me feel better.”
Would you say the same thing if there was a runway with just black people, that if there was just one caucasian, that would have made you feel better? Probably not. There is always that double standard when it comes to that subject.
I also saw via thaeger that there was Tim Roth, Jamie Bell, Emile Hirsch and Garrett Hedlund. Oldman and DeFoe are fantastic, they really wear it well.
I dont know why I think of Russian Tea Room but thats what comes to mind when I see these guys. Also if they had actors modeling I would attend, or try to sneak in before getting carted by the poliska.
The celebrities were Gary Oldman, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Garret Hetlund (Tron, Legacy), Emile Hirsch, Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) and Tim Roth. In one word, BRILLIANT!
this is a spectacle not of refinement, but rather one which combines the interest in fame (those who are known, actors) and nostalgia (in the form of old clothes, mannerisms perhaps) to sell a product. that being said, gary oldman looks great. whether it can translate to “normal” people wearing this with any degree of strength, that is highly unlikely.
So early-2oth-century! Luxe. Elegant. Restrained yet so subtly lush. I would marry any man within 15 years of my own age as long as he promised to dress like this forever.
How exciting to see! That is BEYOND awesome. Where can i get the thorough runway pictures? Cost wise, they must have invested serious amount of money. like serious with capital letters, bold, underlined and italic font.
Goose bumps.Seriously.Fashion is all about personal style. The way you stare at something, the way you move your head…Long Live Miuccia.Loving Dafoe,Brody and Oldman.

The bone structure alone on Dafoe+Oldman+Brody is enough to bring me to my knees, but add in a line-perfect Prada overcoat and I am in the beyond.
Prada is simply slap-yo-mamma worthy.

What I love best about this is that the actors showcase the collection much better than the “real” models. On the models, well, they look like young boys wrapped in fabric sacks, but on Oldman, Defoe, and Brody, these clothes look right- wearable, lush, retro, and masculine. Perfection!

maybe it was the quality of the youtube vid….but seeing the collection as a whole, reminded me of east germany on a sunny day.

@ Karen
