I loved the photo but when I read the caption, I was really blown away. Studying with Amelia Earhart, wow. I love how women dressed up so much back then, but what a lot of ironing! They don’t look like brainiacs, but I’ll bet they were.
Women learning about fauna through microscopic examinations in the 30s? AMAZING!
In love with it even before reading the story =) and according to the bottom/center of the photo, the way we store histology slides have not changed that much over the years =)
Nana looks great, and how fantastic to see women actually doing science back then, even aside from Amelia herself. It’s because of these women and others like them that it’s so (comparatively) easy for modern women to pursue science now.
Oh my gosh, I love this picture so much! It’s amazing how classic all of those styles are. You could see someone walking down the street wearing any one of those outfits and they wouldn’t seem the least bit out of place. Amazing :)

so i just blurt it out but this picture just tops ranking my favorites of your vintage ones. wow what a marvelous babe. you can check how they dress 1940s-ish as in of fantastic collars and pristine outfits and great manners and faces like movie stars and motion like supermodels. everything just fits so right into one take. and i adore how a properly taken picture has that layers not that redness but more like a depth, which i doubt highy how we gonna take it exactly with a dc. the picture also has been well framed and lightened as in the amount right above the lamp and square below some roughly reflecting measurement facility. so much to learn and love in it.
This is a truly magical piece. Grandparents have so much to teach us and this is a prime example. Look at the LOVE in this photo! The love of learning, the love of being women, the love of sharing. Amelia looks so much more beautiful than other posed photographs that I have seen of her. And your grandmother is such a precious treasure. Thank you for sharing!

Wow yesterday i did not recognize her but I found she was so “modern” among these girls. I read her biography, she was so incredible ! There is one pic I love so much, she is stunning ! I will send it to you.
This photo is very touching to me because I grew up learning about Amelia Earhart and her accomplishments in aviation. I’m a fellow Kansan (she was from Atchison, KS) The house she grew up in is now a museum dedicated to her career in Atchison and is spectacular. She is a true legend!
I also love the peter pan collars the women are wearing in this photo!
