Darling girl. So sensibly dressed, yet still so attractive. Mind you, she will need physiotherapy from carrying that bag around. (It happened to a friend of mine after years of lugging the biggest handbags.)
The carpetbag and the Edwardian-style proportions do convey Mary Poppins. Now if she held an umbrella you’d think she floated down from a cloud…thanks, commenters, I have “Chim, Chim, Cheree” playing in my head.
She really looks like being out of time. I wonder what she was thinking about at that moment. The contrast with the surroundings and her is so poignant. Great picture!
That bag is absolutely to die for!! I agree with Dee, she does sort of remind me of Diane Keaton -which is a good thing! I think this is the kind of bag you own forever, then pass down to some lucky relative!
I have that exact bag but smaller. Funny b/c I just conditioned the leather a few days ago and eager to bring it out again. Love her expression. Makes me wonder what caught her eye.
Practically perfect in every way! This made me have to watch this scene again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FgTCbS6WBM. I imagine that she pulled out a house plant and a hat rack to hang her turban on after this photo was taken.
Charming. Such a refreshing change from the tight, overtly sexy looks American girls of that age are often seen wearing. When you are that young and pretty, even voluminous woolen clothing like this can be sexy and stylish. Just lovely and unique.
Kind of a chic goth look…and I believe I have the same lovely bag of my mother’s from Italy! It’s a bit on the large side to carry around but I’m thinking of toting it now that I’ve seen this!
As usual, you have the most discerning eye. I was at Pitti for three days…..Wish I had seen this girl in the “real”. However, I did see you…..twice…….once inside Pitti and then in that wonderful restaurant “Cammillo”. Wish I could have been at that table of beautifully dressed and incredible men’s table. I just watched with the upmost pleasure from the room next door. I did hear your speech, and I thought you were so sincere in giving them your “welcome and thanks”. You are a gentleman, Scott.
I love to watch you……..watching others. The look in your eyes is always one of interest, curiosity and love as we find in a young child. I wish your New Year to be full of these “regards”.

I love how she has hints of “spirituality” incorporated in her wardrobe. They are translated into subtle touches like a her minimalist turban and an elephant pendant. What a well planned look. It’s like drawing for hours and hours to get an essence of something, but in a functioning wardrobe.
Can not wait to show this pic. to my husband and daughter!!! I was just wearing a turban like this the other day and both of them, considering they know me very well that I do and will experiment, anyways they were just shocked and slightly embarrased. However I do give them a tiny credit since we live in a Hocky ridden, lululemon yoga wear kind of city…so looks like this are just out of place.
Thank you so much Scott for your incrdible insight and brilliant eye.
I like how the shape of her hair perfectly mimics the shape of her turban. I was actually shocked that all of the comments were about her bag which I had to go back and look at.
I think she looks completely Italian Renaissance..it’s the way her hair and turban frame her face like a Titian painting…the wide white collar and point of her cap adds to the classical portrait. ce magical.
