This image reminds me of the new movie Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. The eyeglasses that the main character wears is a huge part of the story.

January 11, 2012 at 5:48 pm
The scarf and the fit of the coat is lovely, very elegant! :)
I really like the scarves, which many men are afraid to wear. I also like how his socks match the toe of his shoes! Very stylish man!
January 11, 2012 at 5:58 pm
That’s what I call statement masculine style! We need to see more of that out there, especially in the main cities all over the world. Besides his personal charm, his shoes are exceptional!

January 11, 2012 at 9:30 pm
Aaaaahhhh….. Italian gentlemen!!! They get it!!
January 11, 2012 at 9:52 pm
His soes reminds me of those photos of Garance awhile ago where she had black monk straps on and I find myself wishing there was a blog of just what she wears every day, so I could make lame attempts to copy her style.
Of course then I would never have seen that lovely plaid jacket with the gentler plaid pants, both of which make me unreasonably happy.

January 11, 2012 at 10:02 pm

Ah l’echarpe en soie dans sa poche, et les chaussures en cuir!!!!! So Stylish I love it!!
January 11, 2012 at 11:40 pm
Snappy shoes and scarf! Plaid on plaid is always so delightfully quirky and has a lot of personality!
January 12, 2012 at 12:25 am
Its so funny, I work at an alterations shop in Seattle and the men around here are soooooo conservative when it comes to pant lengths (well and now that I mention it, fashion in general) ….almost no one requests a cuff when they get a hem, and they wouldn’t be caught dead in high waters! Whenever a slightly fashionable man comes in I remind them “oh, I’ve seen cuffed highwaters are back in style and it has a really preppy, dapper edge..” but no one gets it…they barely laugh, then hand me their polyester JC Penny Haggar’s.
January 12, 2012 at 2:29 am
Wow Lino knows what to do, doesn’t he? What a great winter combination, takes the cake for me! B
January 12, 2012 at 3:18 am

What a gent. I love that coat and who would have thought stuffing a scarf in your pocket would look so damn good. Hats off!
January 12, 2012 at 4:53 am
I’m not sure about this look but I definitely like the shorter trousers for men. That overflowing over the shoe look just unbecoming.
January 12, 2012 at 4:54 am
Lino, Lino, Lino….where have you been?
You style setter, you!
more Lino , please.
January 12, 2012 at 5:02 am
Could you please show some well dressed boys? i have a small nephew and i’m finding it hard to buy/style nice outfit for him.
January 12, 2012 at 5:10 am
I love tweed , especially double tweed. The shoes are a bit tricksie; an ankle boot would have been better with these shortish trousers. Then man in the middle looks great, the that coat with those trousers and glasses.

January 12, 2012 at 7:23 am
That scarf!! Those shoes!!! Swoon!
January 12, 2012 at 7:26 am
I’d say that was a Russell Glen check. Whilst it looks like its by Crombie, I’m not so sure that Crombie sell double-breasted covert coats like that.
January 12, 2012 at 7:47 am
Not strictly a Prince of Wales.

I have also got a photo off the back. I’m sitting there in my jeans and took a picture. Funny to see!
January 12, 2012 at 8:10 am
This is the kind of man that makes you glad to be a woman!! Thank you!
December 6, 2012 at 7:44 am
that was the sexiest, most admirable compliment I have ever heard a woman say about a man. I am just now reading this and it astonishing how women really do admire a man that can dress…well!
January 12, 2012 at 8:19 am
the italians…so elegant…so perfect
January 12, 2012 at 8:36 am
i think this is usually you would post like back when in 2009. and thanks to you i am getting everthing here in the picture now. i for one would adpot the basic pieces for my daily wear and feel comfortable. but if i can observe the same wear in my personal life and take a picture of that..that would make the year to me. anyway thank you. i am still feeling for this fancy blog over these years.
January 12, 2012 at 8:37 am
You have a really smart and elegant look. I like shoes.
January 12, 2012 at 8:49 am
Elegant. Beautiful coat and shoes.
January 12, 2012 at 8:50 am
The Italian David Dickinson, you have to admire the confident and OTT nature of the look.
January 12, 2012 at 9:02 am
Oh, this just might be my favorite of all time. Look at that coat, that waist, that scarf! Magic.
January 12, 2012 at 9:20 am
Stylie-est fella ever!
January 12, 2012 at 9:35 am
Sometimes I have to shut off my “fashion conscious eye” when I walk around …. the vast majority of North Americans dress like slobs. I see a photo like this and could weep. I mean, look at these men. Style oozing out of their pores.
January 12, 2012 at 9:36 am
Loving this picture! Italian men, old like wine, which makes their impeccable style all the better.
January 12, 2012 at 9:42 am
the first strap of the shoes open, the trousers too short, the scarf out the pocket, the coat too slim, the watch, the tan…
He’s a little bit “tamarro” as we say in Italy…

Always great Mr. Lino.
Mi piacerebbe sapere che orologio indossa. Non appena saro’ a Milano, passero’ Al Bazar, sperando che ci sia.
January 12, 2012 at 1:03 pm
I just bought a pair of Johnny Fluvogs that remind me of these, brown straps across a black shoe. 2-toned shoes are so versatile, and I find wearing them is a little bit like jewelry for the feet.
January 12, 2012 at 2:17 pm
These men look amazing. Someday this will be a classic photo -for now, it’s just great. Interesting the scarves hanging from their coat pockets. Isn’t confidence the most attractive thing?
January 12, 2012 at 2:50 pm
Really love a man turned out in some style….
He seems to inhabit his cloths…
January 12, 2012 at 4:49 pm

January 13, 2012 at 6:53 am
Very stylish – but I might have something to say to my tailor if he put a sleeve in like that.
January 13, 2012 at 7:21 am
Lino always Number 1!
Usually Lino wear Patek Philippe or Audemars Piguet wristwatches.
More Lino please! :-))
@MAX : tamarro is the opposite of Lino ! Tamarro wear D&G and/or similar rubbish, football player style.

Thank you for sharing!

January 13, 2012 at 6:02 pm
Oh, wow, fabulous in so many ways.
January 13, 2012 at 8:59 pm
I think it is WONDERFUL when an older person keeps his or her shape (doesn’t go to seed), still has an eye for youthful trends, and makes it their own. Too often as people get older, they let things go. This man is Inspiration on how to “WORK IT” when you are over 50.
January 14, 2012 at 5:40 am

I was just in Florence and although I saw many well-dressed men none came close to the stylish trio in your picture. Lino has a great smile. I love how he pushes boundaries, particularly for older men, with such casual confidence and elan. Thanks Scott for brightening my day!
