I had a male friend who liked to compete in dresses in the 80′s–Austin, TX has always been weird. He never won a race but always made a good showing, so to speak.
I absolutely love this! She looks so lovely, happy and warm of heart – and she runs in dresses! How quirky!?! I think if I ran in a dress in Paris, the old ladies would actually stop giving me mean stares – what a novel idea!
This is stunningly good, the colours in the graffiti, on the ladder and on the man-lift all balancing against this wonderful outfit. Then top it all off with the gesture and the beautiful smile. GRL rules …
The dresses she wears while running are like tennis dresses or sometimes she wears an extra long tank tops as a dress. You can get great tennis dresses them from Nike and others (although they we’rent made for running, they’re easy to move in and often quite cute). Whatever she wears, she always makes it her own. She’s just super stylish, with amazing and super creative hair styling. She also styles her marathon outfits by altering the pieces or matching them with unexpected accessories. Sofia is such an inspiration to runners as well as girls in general; beautiful, intelligent and super warm towards her readers.
WOW! What a beautiful woman and picture. Sofia’s NYC marathon time of 3:37:50 is awesome. I would love to train with her but I could not keep her pace! Oh well, it would be pleasant to watch her leaving me in her dust.
I like that TheSartorialist is talking also about health and fitness!

I have always thought of this as one of your most iconic shots and every time i balance on the back of my heels i remember it – what a girl – what a shot! x
I’m also curious to see pictures of her running in dresses..
She looks as bright as morning sunshine! Seems to me like her black glasses and brown leather bag root down her colorful outfit, which makes her look stylish rather than just a bundle of color. I especially like her hair..
Omg I love you! I’m devoted to style/fashon and I run marathons and half-marathons. On New Year’s Eve I ran the Central Park Midnight Run in a black lace cocktail dress. It was sooooo much fun! Perhaps I will continue merging my two passions…
Her heels really complete the look! Loving the overall colour scheme. G.R.L (in this context) is the logo of the ‘Graffiti Research Lab’ – it’s an underground group that experiment with digital technology for art installations. Pretty cool projection art too.
