Concentrating on the clothing details, that is one interesting high waisted skirt, the bag is a nice size and the shoes are to die for. I have neve been a fan of that type of tank shirt, but I hear New York is enjoying a lovely late summer after a season of wacky weather, so more power to her.
Wow! There really isn’t much else to say, except… I hope this heavenly creature didn’t cause too many accidents today while walking the streets of planet earth.
A black city sarong is just perfect for her, isn’t it?

PS — Sart, I’m too busy (lazy) to register at Style.com to comment on your photos there, but… They’re great! I just wish they could be enlarged. I hope you post some shots here (who’s the lady with her picture on her bag? Etc.)
First, let’s say the obvious — she’s gorgeous, isn’t she? The hair and the smile, lovely. She could wear trashbags and no one would get past the eyes, right?
Ok, now the clothes.
I love the wrap on the shoes. I think there’s something innately sexy about the whole light-bondage aspect of tied shoes or sandals. That being said — they’re too high, too elevated and the foam too thick for my puritan tastes. Imagine them down a wee bit closer to the ground and the heel less, I dunno, pointed. Circa 1945, perhaps, or 1975. Same bit of kink, with a wee bit more elegance.
She has an excellent figure, and she’s showing it. Good for her! No empire waistline maternity wear here. For the record ladies, my 70 yr old mother calls those cupie dresses “maternity wear,” for the simple reason that in 1972, that’s what you wore when you were shapless and preggers. Get the picture? Even if you’re roomy, love your shape. ESPECIALLY if you’re roomy, love your shape. Drape your shape. Don’t wear 60′s/70′s materinity dresses, please. Don’t blob out on us.
Back to our lovely girl on the street. Something up top, beneath the smile and killer hair is missing. The purse is great — echoes the shoes. And I love the dress but the top — even though it provides some welcome contrast — seems almost too plain. The shoes hit a historical note, summery, followed by a button dress… and the top fails to deliver.
Still, can *anyone* say she isn’t gorgeous? I think not. Long legs, red hair, and a broad smile. An elegant, staueque head turner, for sure!
I love the way these shoes go with that skirt, there’s like a link between these two pieces, the skirt wraps beautifully, and it’s partly due to the fact that it’s hanging from such a high waist. Okay, I really like this outfit, and I really like the girl, but OMG, I think she could have avoided the dark bra under the white top. Such a pity. I hope she didn’t do it on purpose
I have to separate her lovely looks from the clothes–she needs a new bra, I don’t mean to be rude, but I just don’t think the top looks good at all because her boobs are down around her waist. A visit to the fabulous Town Shop would fix her right up! The shoes are insane, but more power to her!
She’s beautiful, but the very high slit with the very high heels and tight t-shirt look too overtly “sexy” to me. And maybe there’s a black bra under the shirt?
If this were toned down a little it would be sexier. But she’s very beautiful and I love her down-to-earth smile
Love for sale? The shoes are almost self-parodying: sort of Minnie Mouse goes Kraft-Ebbing.
Perhaps more to the point, they bring the eye down, down, down while “shortening” the legs above. And their weightiness is in unflattering contrast to the airiness of the rest.
Where can I get a pair of those heels?! Does anybody know? She looks exactly like the woman I want to be, and am in my secret mind. Cool, elegant, effortless, intelligent, laid back, chic, sophisticated, doesn’t take herself too seriously, fun, understated, etc…. *WOW* make that *Whoawhoawewa!*
There’s something happening when the high waist skirt and tiny top meet. Her upper torso gets zeroed out, it’s gone, obliverated. A more prominent top would be better. And more delicate shoes, they’re clunky. She’s too hot to make mistakes like these ;)
is anyone else against this outfit? obviously she’s beautiful and it works, but I think the high waisted short skirt makes her torso look short and legs freakishly long, (maybe that was the point?)
Also, not a fan of the shoes in this getup, think the shirt/skirt combo deserves something simpler the shoes seem overcomplicated in comparison to the simplicity of the rest of the outfit.
This woman is really, really attractive, but when I step back and look at the outfit as a whole for some reason I don’t like it. I don’t think it’s optimally flattering for her. The top with the black bra underneath I think is what is bothering me the most–it makes her look unbalanced. I also think that given the choice of top a more delicate shoe would move the outfit further in the direction of classy. I could see this woman looking stunning in a ladylike dress and delicate heels; Ulla’s outfit a few weeks back was a good example of that kind of dressing.
This woman has the kind of natural radiance, glowy beauty, and, well, height that makes us short women feel like schlumps no matter how nice we try to look. I am jealous of those great gams! Great skirt to show them off!
The shoes and the bag bring the simpleness of the outfit up a notch. But what I love most is the stack of bangles atop the gold watch! and the skirt is an intersting cut- more than just the average black mini… oh yeah- and she’s simply g-e-o-r-g-e-o-u-s!
Honestly though, this picture is not even about the clothes. With a body, hair, face and a smile like hers, she could wear a brown bag… or a birthday suit, and she would look marvelous. Which kind of begs the question. What is this blog about?!!?
Yes, a better bra, and/or posture would make this even better. Also, after so many years in jobs requiring black bottom and white blouse, I’d rather her top to be colored. Still – God I’m jealous!
ahh! the black bra! and the short waist too. these things make the look less than amazing for me. but it doesn’t really matter that much cos clearly she is hot-hot-hot.
There is no question: the shirt is frumpy and is not flattering for her physique. She gave up there, when the shoes and skirt demanded so much more! I love this blog, but it does annoy me when the posts focus on the”wowza” subject/object rather than the clothes or the wearer’s panache in pulling off a look.
Anyway, there have been much better ensembles on these pages, her obvious attractiveness notwithstanding.
…is it just me, or does there seem to be an increase in the number of men on this blog, here to view the goodies (read: hot women) rather than relish the ephemeral delights of fashion? yuckity yuck yuck.
the skirt is interesting (in a good way), but would probably be a very unfortunate choice for those of us with anything more than a washboard stomach. and i dont think those shoes would do any favors for women who aren’t long and lean, as she is. but imagine this outfit with a normal mini-skirt. she’d look like a -ahem- workin woman (with expensive accesories), especially if she weren’t such a fresh-faced, earthy beauty. i mean put it together: see-thru tank with contrasting bra, mini-skirt cut-up-to-there, stacked, strappy platform heels. in any other permutation, it would spell utter disaster (or desperation!).
i’m certain this woman is painfully fashionable, so everything is intentional, even the peek-a-boo bra (kinda wish she hadn’t). she could probably stand for a little more “support,” especially when wrangling with the dimensions of the high waist.
but she does achieve a mystifying balance between tartiness and earthiness, and her creativity must be applauded. oh, and i covet her bangles.
even though this is rather late…. i feel like i need to say something about ‘anonymous’ john from l.a.’s post.
i couldn’t help but be a little annoyed by his description of clothing with empire waists as ‘maternity wear.’ of course, they are comfortable and flattering for many pregnant or recently pregnant women. nothing is better than building confidence when your body goes through rapid & intense changes. but here are my two main problems: 1. just because your mother says it, doesn’t ever make it the ultimate truth. even if that’s what they were called in 1972, we are now 30 years in the future. get over the fact that NOTHING in fashion is brand new. if you follow this blog, how can you not realize that it’s all about reinterpretation? 2. i’m rather disturbed that you encourage women who are ‘roomy’ to flaunt their shape directly after you’ve called pregnant women ‘shapeless.’ [which you spelled 'shapless,' by the way.] one of the more recent and perhaps best trends in fashion is the acceptance of maternity wear as a legitimate market. in my opinion, that also means that pregnancy is not just accepted as something that will happen, but that a woman’s body at that time is different than it will ever be again, and why shouldn’t she want to look just as attractive?
lastly? unless you crossdress [which is a fabulous expression of being a woman], i always find it hard to accept a man outside of the fashion industry feeling the need to socially construct a woman’s image.
She carries this off well. The shoes are very extreme, but she works them well. Not for the uninitiated however. This could be scary on the wrong body type. I read your comments. I hope this site doesn’t just turn into a cheering section for all the shots.
i really dont know if I like this look – she’s got the perfect body for it and they are classic pieces but somehow it looks a little tacky…is it the shoes?? not sure…
Those shoes are Proenza Schouler! I got a pair with the same wooden heel but pumps yesterday. They are wonderful and much more comfortable then they look.
Red heads are a dying breed, it’s a pity. I love everything thing here but the tank top, it looks like a chesty bonds reserved for excruciatingly hot days, the beach, home and young kids…sorry.
For everyone asking about where to get the shoes, they may be designer, but I got what looks like the exact same pair last night from Vera Wang’s collection at Kohl’s! Don’t know if they’re on kohls.com but in store they’re even 30%. I never would have gotten them if I hadn’t seen them on this lovely lady first, but I plan on wearing them into the fall with nice textured black tights (also by Vera Wang & also 30%!) Thanks for the bit of inspiration, Sart!

even though this is rather late…. i feel like i need to say something about ‘anonymous’ john from l.a.’s post.
i couldn’t help but be a little annoyed by his description of clothing with empire waists as ‘maternity wear.’ of course, they are comfortable and flattering for many pregnant or recently pregnant women. nothing is better than building confidence when your body goes through rapid & intense changes. but here are my two main problems:

2. i’m rather disturbed that you encourage women who are ‘roomy’ to flaunt their shape directly after you’ve called pregnant women ‘shapeless.’ [which you spelled 'shapless,' by the way.]
one of the more recent and perhaps best trends in fashion is the acceptance of maternity wear as a legitimate market.
in my opinion, that also means that pregnancy is not just accepted as something that will happen, but that a woman’s body at that time is different than it will ever be again, and why shouldn’t she want to look just as attractive?
lastly?
unless you crossdress [which is a fabulous expression of being a woman], i always find it hard to accept a man outside of the fashion industry feeling the need to socially construct a woman’s image.
