Perfect for this wonderful NYC weather we’re having! Socks are quite surprising!

“Pop your waist band up like you expectin a flood” – the lonely island.
A great surprise under what looks to be an average suit on top.
I like his bag, tooo combined!!
November 9, 2011 at 5:00 pm
alright this is getting ridiculous, everything has been in new york and around where i live haha. but anyways this is great style, love the socks.
November 9, 2011 at 5:04 pm
Those colors are so pleasing, especially the vest with those funky old style buttons. But I especially like the way he is sitting. Its a lot more interesting then when people have old style ideas of perfect posture and poise. The more I look the more I find that not standing or sitting upright is a lot more interesting in a picture.
November 9, 2011 at 5:08 pm
Are those pleated pants? I ask only because of the cuff.
The green socks are great.
November 9, 2011 at 5:13 pm

He looks smashing! I love the total tailored look down to his two toned socks and his perfectly tasseled brogues. He’s a cutie.
November 9, 2011 at 5:25 pm
This is good stuff. That guy just gave me a serious lesson about color matching.
This is the best post I’ve seen in a while. Great job.
November 9, 2011 at 5:26 pm
Navy suits make everything better. Plus, it’s a lot more fun to don a navy suit and play with the colors. Hats off to the shoes, especially.
November 9, 2011 at 5:27 pm
<3 the green socks
November 9, 2011 at 5:46 pm

November 9, 2011 at 5:47 pm
Loving those green socks!
November 9, 2011 at 5:51 pm
oh man. this is gooood. the detail of the heel color? brilliant.
November 9, 2011 at 5:52 pm
In the old days (1950s and 1960s) these beautiful green socks would have been made handknit by this man’s wife/girlfriend. And they likely would have been argyle (which I prefer actually to a plain solid, although I do love green).

Started from the top….great…then the socks. Ouch! Sorry, it just doesn’t work!
November 9, 2011 at 11:04 pm
It occurs to me that it must be hard to put together a suit, and this one is done well.
November 9, 2011 at 11:28 pm
omg, love it!
November 9, 2011 at 11:30 pm
Socks are great. This made me want to see someone for once sitting and reading a book instead of looking at a device.
November 10, 2011 at 12:19 am
Whoa such a glassy guy ^^
with green socks as well! :P
November 10, 2011 at 1:16 am
This would be a nice dapper look regardless, but the green socks perfect it.

Love this guy with his suit and matching tote, and those socks! So much fun! We should all put a little bit of what he’s having in our daily dressings.
November 10, 2011 at 6:07 am
He’s fabulous! I would so love to have spotted him sitting there as I walked past…
Yes, as Marcel Da Chump just wrote: he’s dashing! So rare.

November 10, 2011 at 8:31 am
oh, great, very great shoes!
November 10, 2011 at 8:55 am
Such a fun outfit… though at first the suit appears bespoke (and carefully thought out pairing chesnut with a ‘bright’ navy), you then notice what can only be his (or someone’s) old prep school tie. A perfect work ‘uniform’, 10 or so years later!
November 10, 2011 at 9:22 am
I love when a man has fun with his suit. So fresh!
November 10, 2011 at 9:33 am
Handsome chap. Love the socks, vest and bag.

November 10, 2011 at 12:49 pm
Wow, what a beautiful, sophisticated mixture of colors. Light blues, dark blues, light browns, dark browns, and a touch of green to top it off. This kind of refinement of personal style really reflects a person’s confidence.

Saw him in Soho this weekend… wearing the same color of socks, with cropped, skinny camel colored pants. It was the socks that caught my eye then… as they do now.
November 10, 2011 at 1:52 pm
Apart from the vest, this outfit is absolutely perfect!
November 10, 2011 at 3:22 pm

November 10, 2011 at 7:41 pm
Agree on the great socks.
Wonder how long and hard he looked before finding a tote that perfectly matched the blue of his suit!
November 11, 2011 at 6:52 am
The color mix is so beautiful … love the socks
November 11, 2011 at 11:19 pm
He looks amazing and so chic
Love men who dress this way, its so classy and classic. You don’t see many men well put together like this all the time.
November 12, 2011 at 3:14 am
Wow! Perfect outfit!
November 12, 2011 at 3:47 pm
Very nice but didn’t appreciate the bright green heel being visible. Many colours in the mix but still there’s harmony. I think lighter brown smart shoes could also have worked nicely (similar colour with the cardigan) with the suit.
I wonder if the colour of the suit really is so deep blue (the contrast with the rest of the photo is just awesome) or if it’s just the photograph’s settings…
November 12, 2011 at 4:54 pm
Every once in a while you come across a photo that absolutely makes you burst into applause. For me this is that picture. The blues, green and browns; the bag, the phone, they all work for me.

Love a great pair of men’s shoes !! Makes or breaks an outfit!! Sad that the majority of American men Still don’t get that!! One can only hope.
November 27, 2011 at 1:15 pm
This gent is very well put together. I love the collar on that bengal stripe shirt. Great choice.
BTW why are we so obsessed with the whole pleats/cuffs & flat front/ no cuffs thing. Remember know the rules then confidently break them~~~that’s personal style. Sprezzatura!!!!
