i like it. being active is always in style.
November 8, 2011 at 4:20 pm
It is quite a beautiful transition; a definate contrast, yet strangely complimenting between the two worlds…
November 8, 2011 at 4:34 pm
This is so great. I would love to see what he chooses to wear when he’s not going to the gym!
November 8, 2011 at 4:37 pm
Ooooh love the sporty vibe !! I like that he is plugged in his music world AND of course the mix of gym clothes and street clothes is unknown genius !!

Me too! It is usually dark before I get finish my workout!Early riser.
November 8, 2011 at 4:48 pm
I love his look! the shot of him walking is really amazing.
November 8, 2011 at 4:50 pm
he’s just trying to look like garance in his “yoga pants”
November 8, 2011 at 4:59 pm
This is awesome. I so feel his mood. He’s already working out in his head.
November 8, 2011 at 5:07 pm
The allure of yoga pants. ;- )
November 8, 2011 at 5:08 pm
he is awesome. I hope he is straight.
November 8, 2011 at 5:11 pm
There’s a guy who goes to a body sculpting class a few doors down from my favorite Indian restaurant. Occasionally, he’ll pop in for a bite.
Let me just say that a man in yoga pants is not what I would consider stylish – much less what I want to look at when I’m eating! My husband keeps his eyes on his plate the whole time, LOL!
Definitely this works. As a woman, I like seeing mens legs. Guys always seem to try to hide them. His are nice, too.
November 8, 2011 at 5:13 pm
Cool and relaxed :) gotta love NY and it’s people
November 8, 2011 at 5:17 pm
yes – very interested to see others like this over the winter!
November 8, 2011 at 5:19 pm
Probably rode his bike to work.

November 8, 2011 at 5:24 pm
I totally agree with you. Great style surprises can occur in those in-between moments of the day…I wish this were the norm, and see less of the compartmentalized styles 1) for the gym, 1) for work! It could also result in a much needed decline of hooded sweatshirts around here (I mean in the US)
November 8, 2011 at 5:33 pm
November 8, 2011 at 5:44 pm
very styled for the gym… i never understood the large head set….was at one time nerdie look….. Scott u must be a ghost…u r always in my hood….never see u…
November 8, 2011 at 5:47 pm
A woman can easily look at, wear, or assume an outfit and talk about herself looking and feeling sexy. For a straight man that same freedom does not come so easily. This look is sexy and if adopted beyond transitional wear maybe an emancipation is on the horizon?
November 8, 2011 at 5:52 pm
perfect shot, loving his style, totally fashionable gym attire
November 8, 2011 at 5:54 pm
Great picture! I was actually very surprised when I saw the whole picture:) Didnt expect that! Good surprise though! He is really cute and looks good from the waste up and from the waste down we can see that he is taking good care of his body as well;)

Me too! Love it!
November 8, 2011 at 6:18 pm
He looks like a cross between Ryan Gosling and Scott Caan.
And his legs are out of this world.
November 8, 2011 at 6:19 pm
I think Sarah Justine (http://www.thegirlinthecheckscarf.com) has made a really interesting comment there.
These “Gym Styled” people are quite probably on a regular daily route…
I wonder how difficult it would be to try and catch them at a different time of day, say when they’re dressed for work for example.
I think that would be a very interesting project.
November 8, 2011 at 6:32 pm
Great sense. I wonder what he looks like when he’s not heading home from the gym.

i usually see girls showing off their round butts walking to/from the gym or yoga.
cool j crew new balances!
November 8, 2011 at 6:43 pm
beautiful picture. very stylish man
November 8, 2011 at 6:58 pm
No no no! A guy should never ever walk the street in tights no matter how good his legs are. He looks like a cool guy who should know better. I was anticipating the complete ensemble because the top half oddly remided me of Bono, but it went downhill (literally) as all was revealed.
November 8, 2011 at 7:02 pm
Depending on if he’s going to or coming from the gym, I can’t help but wonder why he chose to wear his workout pants with a shirt and suit jacket? Or is he wearing his workout shirt under the suit jacket? Hmm… regardless, he certainly has nice legs!
November 8, 2011 at 7:03 pm
This is a really great look, I love it!
November 8, 2011 at 7:05 pm
I like his bag!
The shoes look great!
JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Those Legs! Those Shoes! Those Headphones! The jacket and the pants have the perfect length. An elegant black silhouette with a nice colourful trashy young accent (shoes).
He is something in between a knight and the modern feminine man. Stylish and but unpretentious. One of the most beautiful shots of men I have seen on this blog.
November 8, 2011 at 7:20 pm
I dont know how..But this Guy is ROCKIN this Look..Bam!!!..the headphones are Money..!!
November 8, 2011 at 7:26 pm
Looks like he got some inspiration from Garance and her yoga pants…
Being in this transition is such a part of the active NY lifestyle….and somehow New Yorkers manage to slip in a workout on-the-go, whether it’s before/during/after their workday. It’s all in a New York minute!
November 8, 2011 at 7:43 pm
I’m not sure why we think he’s on the way to the gym. He might just like the look. (It’s already been pointed out that he’s not wearing socks.)
November 8, 2011 at 7:55 pm
it’s def going into your next book through which the ppl will come up upon flipping w/ wow here is new york, the city of loneliness.
November 8, 2011 at 7:56 pm
I love this because you are so right–it looks like he could be on a runway, what with his bag slung over his shoulder, his jacket proportionately with the leggings, his glasses/headphones, and of course, his catwalk strut. So great.
November 8, 2011 at 8:04 pm
My favorite part about this photo is that Scott stopped me in one of the few moments I’m not wearing my “real”clothes!
Thanks again, Scott. See you at Teffot on the 15th!

business on top, gym on the bottom, its a shocker when you scroll down to see the bottom half
November 8, 2011 at 9:31 pm
love the transitional look! so hard to get it right, but he’s spot on.
(and now the Drew fan club will head to Leffot for your signing!)

I think I am in love with this man.

Prince St between Crosby and Broadway.
The Equinox gym is a few paces away,
and a left turn.
He’s got issues to work out;
the kind that makes him want to burn
Your man’s pulling this look off well; great pins always help with the compression pants in public don’t they?
November 8, 2011 at 10:37 pm
Gabriella does that make this outfit the mullett of style? Business up top and a party below? Wait, that sounds wrong. Either way he looks good. Life isn’t about looking perfectly coiffed all the time. I workout outside in all kinds of weather and do a lot of rolling around on the ground. I end up with grass and dirt stuck on me,I could look better but it isn’t my priority in the moment.
November 8, 2011 at 11:15 pm
I have been a follower of this blog since ’06, and this is one of the few times I have ever felt compelled to comment. Brilliant.
November 9, 2011 at 1:49 am
Just chillin in my tights…^^
But still want to be a fashionista with the coat, headphones and sunnies :P
He looks great!
November 9, 2011 at 2:55 am
We want a photo of Garance in her yoga pants !!!!!!
November 9, 2011 at 3:17 am
Drew, I am so excited for you!
and I think it is so funny that you were photographed on Prince St.
(everyone, our nickname for him in LA is Prince Harrington, or HRH)
I do hope Scott catches you on a day you’re actually dressed…because it is quite a spectacular thing.
November 9, 2011 at 3:20 am
Where is the sense of style?
une chatte grise
November 9, 2011 at 3:21 am
This shot made me smile–the look is so utterly incongruous, and is worn with such insouciance, that you know that man has a great sense of humor.
November 9, 2011 at 3:49 am

November 9, 2011 at 7:16 am
What a fantastic look!
November 9, 2011 at 7:49 am
Even men may have beautiful legs! Nice shot.
November 9, 2011 at 8:15 am
Men’s fashion is highly structured compared to woman in relation to choice of garment and material construction. Sports wear hybrids, more fluid clothing and innovating fabrics have yet to bleed in to the mainstream men’s fashion sphere. It is nice to see men comfortable in styles not traditionally associated with mainstream fashion.
IS THIS IT? models review
November 9, 2011 at 8:39 am
I agree, curious and pretty interesting combination…
November 9, 2011 at 9:41 am
Wow – such an arresting look! I love it, his hair, the headphones, the bag, the whole thing is so unusual and great.
November 9, 2011 at 10:28 am
No! Sorry, great body, but if he were swimming, should he wear his speedo home with a jacket? How difficult is it to put on pants after a workout?
November 9, 2011 at 10:31 am
This is something I have been watching, wearing and buying for at least 2 years. As a clothing in the outdoor industry there is a lot of cross dressing between sport and fashion in my industry. Also I am sitting at work in Lulu pants and a tank and wearing a white North Face down hoodie. Sometimes, depending on the job, you don’t change for work. You just change after workout class. Mine is at no0n. If you come you Austin Texas – you and Garance can come any time.
November 9, 2011 at 10:35 am
I love it. Robin Hood, men gym tights. I actually wouldn’t mind if men adopted this style at all. After all half the 20-something women in the country are running around in jeggings right now, why not let me do the same. Just promise me men won’t pair their leggings with Ugh boots.
November 9, 2011 at 10:41 am
Dressing after a race is complicated, I usually mix impossible clothes, like this men ;)
November 9, 2011 at 10:49 am
I love an all black from work to the gym look, short of whatever colors pop up on your running shoes… no matter the city, it’s nice to feel anonymous in those minutes you have between work and the gym.
November 9, 2011 at 11:14 am
Great capture of transition. But not feeling the bag, not sporty enough.
November 9, 2011 at 11:21 am
Really? I think it looks ridiculous.
November 9, 2011 at 12:07 pm
Basically he is cute! I believe whatever he wears, the look will be enhanced by his beauty.
but also this outfit is brilliantly fresh and eye catching.

I really dig this shot!!
For the many of those who work long hours, yet need to get in their workouts, this man here is the epitomy of active young NYC. Brilliant.
November 9, 2011 at 2:34 pm
One of my favorite things about this picture is how the background is similar to his outfit.
November 9, 2011 at 2:55 pm
Its nice when you can tune the world out with such large headphones!
November 9, 2011 at 3:35 pm
An inspiring moment caught. Great discovery!!!
November 9, 2011 at 4:22 pm
When a stylish man is in a hurry ends up wearing his sneakers :)
November 9, 2011 at 6:13 pm
To me this is a very masculine look – love the trainers without socks. He looks very sexy – not like he’s trying to work a look, just doing his thing. This wouldn’t work however if he didn’t have such great legs, or the confidence to pull it off.
November 9, 2011 at 8:07 pm
It’s a great moment, Scott and it’s nice to see people wearing mixed clothes, in sneakers, carring their mats and bags. I love it too.
November 9, 2011 at 9:14 pm
Where can I get those pants?
November 9, 2011 at 9:36 pm

Love Love Love this look.
Makes me want to go to the gym. I’m not used to this feeling.
November 10, 2011 at 9:59 am
This is so true! I have always been on the look out for people going to the gym from work too! Always a pleasure to watch! :)

if all men looked as handsome as he.. drew is it? how much lovelier a day can be… hehe
November 10, 2011 at 3:08 pm
Why can’t this be standard men’s wear.He does not have to set foot in the gym.And the one that says men should not be seen in leggings or worse “tights” – get a life. This gent gets my vote.
November 10, 2011 at 3:23 pm
I love this. Perfect balance.
November 10, 2011 at 5:10 pm
wait ‘a go! you sure get my vote friendo… well put and matter a fact! :)

Love the business on top, party on the bottom combo… the mullet of the gym/style world:) I’ve been known to wear heels with yoga pants, but only due to poor planning!
November 11, 2011 at 5:10 am
People are so self-involved and this photo epitomises it. I hate the egotism of this culture.

About the pants: as I can tell they are not yoga pants as some of you stated. they are… nike running tights ;)
November 12, 2011 at 10:40 pm
I love it!
November 13, 2011 at 12:32 pm
Love this ensemble from head to toe. It looks effortless and a nice bridge between work and workout.

Some live by rules, others by their own rules. There is no reason why this outfit should work… but it does. It works remarkably well because this man has confidence and attitude. He’s owning it! Very well done.
November 18, 2011 at 2:09 am
He looks like bredly cooper.
Anyway nice pic.!
November 24, 2011 at 4:18 am

Quintessentially New York.
August 15, 2012 at 8:26 pm
Love this – but why does these kinds of sportswear looks always have to be seen as ‘in transition’
I would wear this kind of thing everyday.
April 25, 2013 at 9:54 pm
Does anyone realize those aren’t yoga pants, they’re Nike Running tights? Seriously? For “exercise.”
Also, that’s quite possibly the runner/tattoo artist/artist Scott Campbell.
