I usually dislike the bobby socks trend but here I really do like it. I think it stops her outfit from being too serious. It could creep up on matronly but those socks add a touch of whimsy that show she knows how to have some fun with her clothes.
Eleonora’s sense of style is great but I prefer when you catch people being natural, smiling, laughing, so tired of all these perfect pouts and pigeon toes, girls get real!
it’s funny for easily you get used to the way things are without even noticing – as the image was uploading I was subconsciously expecting to see a cigarette in girl’s hand and was surprised to see otherwise. is it just me or do you as well feel that cigarette is a casual friend of slim young fashionistas?

Love how she pops from the background and how the busy passers by frame her beautifully. Great capture. Are those shoes Christian Louboutin I wonder? Beautiful!
Ah. Some folks don’t dig the socks-with-great-shoes combos that we see so often on your blog. But I do. And I love it. Gimme more.
This lady looks like (or is) that mysterious lady you photographed sometime ago; the one wearing a salmon colored suit with the socks-and-heels combo? And almost disappearing into the wall behind her.
I called her Mystique then. It’s her mole that gives her that aura.
This outfit reminds me of a grown up sophisticated version of the swingy velvet dress with lacy ankle socks I used to wear as a little girl. The socks make the outfit hers, not just a beautiful dress with heels.
Just one of my favorite spots in Paris! She looks stunning and I love that she wore white socks with that stunning outift! What a gorgeous look. http://www.casualglamorous.com
I think Taylor’s right about this one–without the socks, the outfit would look matronly (beautiful color or no); with the socks, it looks playful and retro.
GREAT picture, I love how she stands out from the small crowd and of course that velvet blue dress is breathtaking, I love the silhouette it gives her.
And it really makes me want to wear socks with a dress it makes it so cool and preppy, perfect for daytime.

Allison (October 31, 2011 at 9:07 am) you took the words right out of my mouth. I much prefer seeing the more natural shots rather than the model-like posed ones.
Beautiful. Its unique, simple, and the fact that she doesn’t feel the need to define the waist and wears the socks shows confidence. That blue velvet is riveting. Thats why there is a song and a movie about it, I suppose!! But the best thing are those sleeves. I just love them!!!!
@ Johnny; There is no such thing as nice black leggings. Leggings are always gross. I can’t really see someone with good taste like this wearing leggings even on laundry day.
I love socks with stilettos but I don’t like that these socks are white. The rest of the outfit however, whew! Beautiful. The proportions are perfect and I lovelovelovelove her beauty mark!
I’m not sure that I’ve ever seen velvet used like that, where it is voluminous around the upper body (i.e. her sleeves). EVERY time I see it, it’s form fitting, and I hate it because it adds so much weight to a person, but done like this is great! Thanks for posting!
Gorgeous “Blue Velvet”, “Betty Blue” Quintessential 1980 French movie moments am reminded on ohhh and “Diva” with the blue room and roller skating girl, thanks for reminding me and bringing that blue into now with a gorgeous photo.
She is the only girl in the world who could pull this look off. And she does. Hands down. Even if you don’t like / understand the socks, it’s the total effect here that is the point. She makes the look young and fresh, with a sense of humor. That is what makes it – and her – sexy. Gold.

As much as I like this photo, I have to point out my dissenting opinion on the outfit in two points:
1. Bag colour & texture (similar to the dress but not the same)
2. Stockings with the shoes (not as thin as I would like them to be)
Otherwise blue velvet would have been amazing.
