October 4, 2011 at 9:49 am
A truly timeless style – Well spotted! Those simple, perfect little pieces of knitwear are not easy to find though.
October 4, 2011 at 9:51 am
Seriously, these photos are awsome! I love the combinations which are so elegant in their simplicity, I love the complementing accessoires, I love the whole idea behind. This shouts out, STAPLE STAPLE.
Kisses from Greece!
Those pumps are a divine color! I’m always an advocate of simplicity…no fussy layers for fall.

Wow, those two looks are right on the spot. Sharp, minimalistic and simply gorgeous. I love the girl on the second photo, her bag is beautiful.
October 4, 2011 at 9:55 am
simple but beautiful
October 4, 2011 at 10:14 am
Love the shoes of the first girl and the whole look of the second.

Stunning, my kind of style. But they both have exiquite shoes too. And the pink Kelly – I die!!!
October 4, 2011 at 10:30 am
the accessories are really what make it for me! that fuchsia bag in the second photo and the marbled teal shoes in the first are amazing
October 4, 2011 at 10:32 am
love how the simplicity of knitwear speaks for itself but at the same time means so much,
October 4, 2011 at 10:33 am
oh how the simple skirt continues to work!

The red, boxy satchel adds a delightful splash of boldness to her feminine attire! Love. :)

Love the second look and especially that amazing bag with the matching nailpolish

It reminds me Jackie O’ s style, very chic, very feminine.
This skirt lengh really enlights beautiful leggs (but surely put the stress on bad leggs too). I am kind of frustrated here…
October 4, 2011 at 10:56 am
Love the red Hermes bag!
October 4, 2011 at 11:01 am
I like to see a woman in a pencil skirt.
And her I am twice happy because I really like the fact that they have their hair tied back.
October 4, 2011 at 11:03 am
The simple pulled back hair and statement shoes tie both outfits.
October 4, 2011 at 11:13 am
That last skirt is beautiful!

…and beautifully stylish shoes.
October 4, 2011 at 11:22 am
understated elegance is refreshing.
October 4, 2011 at 11:38 am
Love the girl in the second photo, her bag, skirt and jewels are beautiful… she’s so elegant!
October 4, 2011 at 11:45 am
is that a Bamillo watch she is wearing?
October 4, 2011 at 12:05 pm
Surprised at the lavish praise. I don’t see anything special about either of these outfits
October 4, 2011 at 12:10 pm
The power of a simple knit, a patterned skirt and a killer pair of shoes!

Love these two outfit! They can be suitable for normal women at work! Love them both! And shoes of the first one are terrific.
October 4, 2011 at 12:18 pm
Can someone help ID the skirts??
BTW: the shoes in the first pic are Dries.

October 4, 2011 at 12:47 pm
What I love most is how the intricate patterns and usage of colors that cause the skirts and shoes to take center stage in each of the attire.
October 4, 2011 at 12:50 pm
The first woman looks like Giovanna’s rightful successor. Very natural sense of style. Effortless.
The second woman – I feel more aware of the time she took to appear so polished. There is something ever-so-slightly contrived about her look but I’m splittin’ hairs, here (not that any of us have split ends!).
Thanks for these photos, Scott!
October 4, 2011 at 1:17 pm
Love the turquoise shoes in the first photo and the pink bag in the second. The outfits are so much more interesting thanks to those bright colors!
To me the first outfit is all about the shoes.
October 4, 2011 at 1:26 pm
love these two shots, gorgeous looks
October 4, 2011 at 1:44 pm

October 4, 2011 at 1:58 pm
Both looks are flawless, but I have to say that the second one is my favorite! That skirt is just fabulous!
October 4, 2011 at 2:14 pm
Yeah. Here is some inspiration for me. I love lots of looks but find that being in my mid forties I have to start dressing differently than before ( body shape is changing and have a foot injury).
These looks are achievable, unfussy and simply but luxuriously elegant. Thank you

Love the oversized plastic watch in the first shot–it keeps the outfit from becoming prim or fussy.

Very pretty and ladylike. I absolutely love that length.
October 4, 2011 at 2:25 pm
Love the printed skirt… is it lace? or a pattern printed. Have to go find one!
October 4, 2011 at 2:26 pm
so true, love this post. AND the shoes in the first shot.
October 4, 2011 at 2:38 pm
This is exactly how I like to dress. Thanks for highlighting a very simple style that always seems to work. :) And don’t forget, simple styles really allow the fantastic shoes to grab the spotlight! Love that first pair.

Such style brings to mind a lyric from John Cale:
“simple stories are the best”.
October 4, 2011 at 3:53 pm
I don’t know why but it reminded me that I’d love to have Alain Mikli sunglasses…
October 4, 2011 at 3:55 pm
Like both quite a bit, but like the 1st photo (blue sweater/top) best as the look is a bit smoother. I’m distracted by the woman’s bag being open in the 2nd photo; I want to act as her mother & tell her to close it w/the clasp.
October 4, 2011 at 4:00 pm
Now these are perfect fitting outfits! I especially love the bottom one, I think I have a lace pencil skirt somewhere I have to dig up! Must try this.

These are stunning photos – the colours are so balanced – red purse, red car, the shoes in the first photo are a little questionnable with the outfit but are perfectly matched to the blue background …. I love it!
Love the oversized Ray Bans in second photo.

This seems to be a formula that’s serving Carine Roitfeld pretty well right now.
October 4, 2011 at 9:51 pm
I really like how the simple sweatshirt of the girl in the second pic becomes so chic contrasted to the elegant skirt.
October 4, 2011 at 10:17 pm
