mr. mort- aka mordechai is my brother. He is fond of hats, even when they need to go. Never has taken it as far as R.Simmons,thank God. As your host indicated- it is what bothers him that drives him to wear the item(s). Like eating food you can’t stand so that you don’t over eat- it’s his own way of not over indulging into the culture he loves and wears on his collar.
My husband and I laughed until we had tears in our eyes when we read the caption that accompanies the photo in GQ. Freakin’ brilliant! Monsieur Mort is utterly unique…other people’s tastes and opinions be damned. Clearly his most interesting style-related dialogue is with himself — the rest of us just need to watch and learn.
This feels like a very San Francisco look to me. I dunno if you’ve shot out here, but a LOT of folks do the chic streetwear thing here and in my opinion pull it off a little better than this fellow.
as i fond reader of this blog, i am happy to see a familiar face from the underground ny art scene…not to mention he’s a cute jewish boy. i stumbled upon his photos a while back (possibly through aNYthing/pegleg??…cannot remember…) either way, this post is a perfect combo for a fashion- loving jewish girl. a date would be the perfect end result :)

Very good colour coordination – I’ve worn similar but with camouflage trousers and blue blazer. However, the enseble would require some structure. For example, if the jacket would have a more tailored fit and if he would wear chukka/desert boots, it would look really good. Thanks Sartorialist!
