Something so appealing about a bearded man with careless hair.

September 29, 2011 at 5:42 pm
Love the big picture format! And the hair.
September 29, 2011 at 5:47 pm
Seems Giancarlo Giannini in the movie “Swept Away”
September 29, 2011 at 5:49 pm
LOVE THE LOOK!
September 29, 2011 at 5:52 pm
Well, it’s a look, I’ll give him that. But why people are praising this is beyond me. He looks like every other hipster in every other hipster club in every other city. Looks like Joaquin Phoenix at his supposed rock bottom. Great picture – terrible look. My 2 cents.
September 29, 2011 at 5:54 pm
Cool shot – Leaves you wondering what the context is. He’s certainly living his own Grateful Dead concert …
September 29, 2011 at 5:56 pm
who knew I’d say it but… this works!
September 29, 2011 at 6:00 pm
In Italy, especially in Tuscany we said: ” L’omo ha da essè peloso” – which can be translate as: “The man, to be a real man, has to be hairy”.
September 29, 2011 at 6:06 pm
Love my brother Tommaso!!
September 29, 2011 at 6:07 pm
Anyone else slightly reminded of Joaquin Phoenix in Im Still Here?
September 29, 2011 at 6:12 pm
A freestyle young man, not my favorite but cool. Nice shot!
September 29, 2011 at 6:13 pm
He has great hair (on top – dislike the beard immensely).
He is wearing nice sunglasses.
It’s a nice shirt he’s wearing.
But I fail to see what makes him worthy of The Sartorialist … and this, coming from someone who appreciates various styles, even if I don’t always like them personally … but seriously, what made him worthy?
September 29, 2011 at 6:14 pm
I want to give him a big hug!!! he looks so cuddly! I like his sunglasses. What are they? I have been looking for glasses that are regular looking like that.

Wow, Milan people have such great style, that’s helping choose where I will spend my semester abroad next year!

Jim Morrison is alive!
September 29, 2011 at 6:49 pm
He looks a bit like my Brooklyn-based musician son. And look at that beautiful back in the background.

Only in Milan can a cruffy dude and a scruffy t-shirt (though well-designed clearly) look fantastic. I miss Milan :-(
September 29, 2011 at 7:02 pm
Alan, is that you?
September 29, 2011 at 7:11 pm
Tom! You escaped from Scientology!
September 29, 2011 at 7:13 pm
My wife SO rides my ass when i let myself go hippie like this.
Oh to be single again…..
September 29, 2011 at 7:26 pm
Ahhh, reminds me of outdoor rock concerts I attended in the late 60′s and early 70′s. Not a great look at all.
September 29, 2011 at 7:33 pm
Apparently commenters think that his beard wants trimming but this extreme ‘Jesus’ look works on him. Fierce! I like his tee-shirt, too.
September 29, 2011 at 7:52 pm
Tommaso Zane, such a nice guy. :-)
September 29, 2011 at 8:04 pm
I think I’m having a flashback! But it’s OK
What a beautiful big woolly head
September 29, 2011 at 8:53 pm

September 29, 2011 at 9:25 pm
It’s a sexy photo.

Giancarlo Giannini in “Swept Away”!
September 29, 2011 at 10:21 pm
A very bad sign when Italians imitate scuzzy American mountain people. No.
Who is Tommaso Zane?
September 30, 2011 at 12:17 am
Scuzzy American mountain people? Watch it, buddy! My husband kind of looks like that.
September 30, 2011 at 12:31 am
nice shot but not my fav style…

September 30, 2011 at 2:47 am
So nice to see a male chest (in a fashion context) that hasn’t been waxed, trimmed, or otherwise fussed with. And the Mid-South beard-rock look is working for him nicely, thank you very much.
September 30, 2011 at 4:03 am
Great haircut :)
September 30, 2011 at 5:08 am
Talking about cave-man..but he does have a sense of style that I kind of dig
He looks like my darling during our big travel! I’d just <3 it!
September 30, 2011 at 5:17 am
What’ts up with all those guys with big hair, and big beard, and chest hair showing at the same time? Too much hair for me. Sophistication does not lie that much in the wildnerness.
A little bit of old fashioned Italian grooming never hurt anyone ;-)
Please Scott share with us pics of those amazing guys in suits and lovely shoes, pleeeeez!
Kisses from Greece!
September 30, 2011 at 7:10 am
I love that he is just embracing being a bearded man with a lot of hair like…all over the place.
And still it doesn’t look scruffy at all, at least not to me. Maybe because my partner has a much more polished look and can’t grow a beard for his life, I’m always a little intrigued by these kind of rough-around-the-edges of guys.
But in the end of the day I’d always prefer my non-bearded man :-)

I love the photo.. but dont like the look!
September 30, 2011 at 8:35 am
I am reminded of James Bond when I see this pic:
“Birds do not nest in a bare tree. Old Japanese proverb.”
September 30, 2011 at 9:39 am
Oh geez, he is gorgeous and so sexy–hairy, earthy but warm in features and expression. Agree –so great to find someone unwaxed and not over-groomed. Do people really want to spend so much time doing unnecessary things? Think of the free time, more productive time, or the useful time to contribute to the world’s needs if this wasn’t overdone.
September 30, 2011 at 10:04 am
Must’ve been edited out of the cover shot for the Kings of Leon “Come Around Sundown” cover. Great shot. I like the brown and tan mingled with the yellow of the sunlight. This guy’s striking.
September 30, 2011 at 10:26 am

September 30, 2011 at 10:37 am

I recently started to like beards……
September 30, 2011 at 12:35 pm
I’m glad to see someone, I’m presuming a student at a University. Lots of interesting style choices are happening around the world in colleges and universities. Nice to see someone who doesn’t look primped.

Ah the Grizzly Hipster – indigenous to Silver Lake, Brooklyn and… Milano?
September 30, 2011 at 3:55 pm
I look like this often. And people just think I look horrible. Only in Milan and at fashion week and on the sartorialist and commented on by you and then by me. I hope you fashion people understand this simple sentence. LOL
September 30, 2011 at 4:06 pm
Angus Stone look-a-like …uncanny!
I am a sucker for a man with a beard! Delicious. x
September 30, 2011 at 4:11 pm

I also have beard, and I’m proud to have it, but not of this size… too primitive. I don’t like his t’shirt (mainly because of the color, it dies on him) and the sunnies (to dark). But the hair looks great and you can see that he has a cool attitude…
October 1, 2011 at 8:02 am
he reminds me of vicent gallo

uhmmmm come to mama
October 2, 2011 at 11:57 am
it´s amazing to see a man who is so perfectly natural and keeps being so attractive. Seriously the photo is perfect, but it wouldn’t work without his casual style. the light, the surrounding… you can’t imagine this, like different pieces that aren’t linked together. This photo reminds me why I love your blog and why I am your fan
kisses from Spain =)

Is that Zack Galifianakis.?
That's Not My Age
October 3, 2011 at 2:17 pm

October 15, 2011 at 10:26 pm
Looks like Jim Morrison when he was bearded in his later years. So beautifully bohemian and effortlessly gorgeous.

This guy is Angus Stones, from Angus and Julia Stones Band.

It screams masculine when are made up and at the same time never seem to mind their appearance so much. That t-shirt is bohemian perfect for a warm beer in Mexico

December 3, 2012 at 7:11 pm
Not quite sure what it is, but I’m oddly attracted to this photo. There’s just something about it. Long lost Italian Sheepdog? Perhaps. If he has a voice like Ewan’s, oh goodness.
