let this be a lesson to old dudes that they
a. can look sharp without wearing misfitted denim and sneakers
and
b. wear cargo without looking like an army vet.
love this guy.
Does anyone Know where I could buy one field coat like that one? Just the name of some brands would be helpful. Cheers.
He looks really stunning. Classic, like a modern italian statue. Everything, a modern-classic gentleman: coat, tie, shirt and helmet. And the name, Corso.
do you folks really think this guy is wearing the field coat over his suit as fashion? surely it’s just an excellent snapshot capturing contrasts exhibited by a guy who didn’t want to muck up his jacket while riding on his scooter. it’s definitely more interesting than an overcoat, but wow y’all gush too easily.
Hmmm. Dapper grey-haired gent of a certain age with a scooter helmet, wearing a military jacket… if he were wearing patterned pants we’d be sure he’s a dedicated reader of yours, Sart!
Wow, intriguing? Powerful? Deep? Something I can’t quite put my finger on, but what a character this man is! There is something incredibly likable about him! Great photograph!
Get out! I love this – gorgeous photograph of a wonderfully-dressed gent! I love the colours in his ensemble – kind of camo without being all out army-esque!
This has been quite a standard look in Milan (but I’d say all over Italy) in the past years, so nothing really new here; although the suit and especially the fabric are spectacular. The field jacket can be either by Aspesi or CP Company or Alpha. Wish I can see the shoes….
Excellent Photograph. Very nice 3 button single-breasted suit. Notice the blazer has had the lapel ironed over to convert into a two button single-breasted suit. Excellent contrast (Green against the brown).
something very charming and old world european about this look. And is that an knit tie? I’m beginning to think that I need to look into getting some knit neckwear for myself
This works for several reasons. First, no weird suit jacket buttoning experimentations; middle only is best on a classic three-button jacket. Second, when pairing a suit and tie with a non-conventional top coat, keep it simple. Not necessarily solids re: suit, tie, and shirt, but it doesn’t look at all bad, now does it? Last, the field jacket is just long enough (the so-called fingertip length) to go past the jacket by an inch or two — critical. Honorable mention: he’s actually using the pockets of the field jacket — he’s not looking to keep everything smooth, clean, and unrealistic looking — he’s using the pockets, which on this type of jacket is a fit. I like this and his expression of having pulled it together so effortlessly completes the look.
The jacket appears to be military surplus – M-1965. English mods would wear them over their bespoke suits for warmth and to protect their clothes from getting dirty while zooming around on their Vespas and Lambrettas. Practical, cool and cheap. Still.
Beautiful!!! Italien men combine good craftsmanship with new and fresh ideas! Im more the traditional english type of guy but I adore men with enough guts to try new ways and live fashion!
Incredible bearing about this man amplified by the crisp look of his suit, but softened by his disheveled field jacket. Whole outfit is perfect for the business of riding a motorbike or scooter. I am also very curious about his foot gear.
Regarding the jacket – I think it’s a US Army Military Issue Vietnam Era OD Slant Pocket BDU Shirt – there are a few NOS available online, and replicas are cheap. It’s a good look.
