Love the snowy white dress with the peter pan collar. Both look effortlessly stylish.

Interesting style crash!

I am loving this military theme! Although, I hope we don’t all fall into the same trend which happened last fall. It would be a bit like Deja Vu.
Check out my trendy blog!

Love, love, love the first outfit!

There is a definite difference between New York and London style. Great shots, the contrast of military and the prim white

Adore the mixture of daintiness and utility chic!
September 24, 2011 at 11:13 am
don’t like any of these looks…..it seems too much and not styled appropriately
September 24, 2011 at 11:21 am
First photo’s shoes are so amazing and I love second photo’s combination with the lacedress and casual green jacket. :)
September 24, 2011 at 11:25 am
Love how these looks both use the same basic elements to create such different moods. Nice shots.

This parka is absolutely very very cool :D

Love the dress and shoe combos but not a fan of the military look. though I’ve been guilty of wearing it in the past lol!
September 24, 2011 at 11:40 am
Love the socks!
Regardless, socks and heels are not attractive unless the girl wearing them is 6 years old and playing dress-up with Mommy’s shoes. Grown women should know better regardless of what they see on some misguided runway.
November 14, 2018 at 7:32 pm
I agree. Note her stance with the turned in toes. ‘Little girl playing dress-up’ as adult sexiness is dangerous for society. Let’s encourage grown men to be attracted to grown women.

Great look – both the contrast and the nice legs.

Me encantan todas las chaquetas tipo militares y gracias a que hemos conseguido ponerlas de moda, también podemos conjuntarlas con todo tipo de prendas. :)

The lady in the stilettos looks scintillating :D
September 24, 2011 at 12:15 pm
Not bad at all!
September 24, 2011 at 12:16 pm
I prefer the first look but I’m not in awe of this style !

Wearing my military jacket today too! Love the combination of the rough and sweet

Ankle socks with blue slingback platforms?? Very unusual…and she seems to be carrying them off well!

I love the mix of khaki/army green and creams/whites. Have to say that I am loving New York (go NYC) a wee bit more than London in this series — but both are beautiful.

I couldn’t find
my army jacket
and I panicked.
Searched every closet
tossing garments in a frenzy.
A girlfriend took it
and I travelled a long
way to retrieve it.
That was over twenty
years ago, the relationship too.
But I still have that army jacket.

I liked the London style. Looks a lot more feminine. The bone structure of the NY girl is a bit rough, even though she’s got killer legs.
Thanks for both looks!
Greetings from Santiago, Chile.

The first pic is my fav!
September 24, 2011 at 1:25 pm
I think its necessary to say how the girl in the second picture pulls this trend off so well, especially with the unexpected touch of socks and wedges. all around adorable and trendy!
September 24, 2011 at 1:27 pm
forgot to mentioned..fab trend.
September 24, 2011 at 1:53 pm
I’ve never owned a military jacket, but atleast once a week I see a photo that makes me want to get one.
Like the first outfit !

Love the military green jackets, I have two and they will get a lot of wear this fall :)
September 24, 2011 at 3:17 pm
First pic ok; second is neauseating–Mary Janes an d socks? Ugh!
September 24, 2011 at 3:23 pm
Both great, but I prefer the bottom one– the Londoner I presume; striking contrast, the green has to be rich given that the jacket style itself is faded.

It’s not at all surprising that military pieces–real ones, not “military-style” fakes by designers–remain a style mainstay. When I was a student (read: broke) I found that old military clothing married durability, form, & function in a way that provided a lot of bang for the buck (explosives pun not intended). Most memorably, I had a great-looking and warm Eisenhower jacket that, for some ungodly reason, I gave to Goodwill during a closet-cleaning spree. That’s definitely one of my top 3 Clothing Regret moments.

The shoes are A.W.E.S.O.M.E !!!
Thank you for sharing!
September 24, 2011 at 3:59 pm
Military cover-ups are right on trend. Loving especially the first look of the NYC girl, fits her beautifully!
Both photos look great! I love military jackets :)
September 24, 2011 at 4:18 pm
I love in both the outfit.. however, the shoes… where are the stairs they most probably use to get on them…?
September 24, 2011 at 4:59 pm
The second outfit is lovely!

what brand are her shoes?
September 24, 2011 at 8:10 pm
Absolutely love the New York angle of white dress w/military jacket and the ‘killer’ shoes. The London, not so much, but it’s just the socks w/those shoes. Socks w/flats would be okay. I hope to see more military jackets w/feminine clothes. Great photos!
September 24, 2011 at 8:53 pm
The first one is OK, although not terribly exciting or original. The second one, UGH… all this infantilization of adult women just really makes me nauseous. Peter Pan collar and sock with sandals on a grown woman? And the fake coy pigeon toes? Why why? Honestly, it just strikes me a deeply misogynistic.
September 24, 2011 at 9:13 pm
the two are absolutely beautiful
September 24, 2011 at 9:17 pm
the top pic is a great outfit but i’m tired of seeing heels that look painful and awkward. strappy flat sandals, jazzy oxfords or even a sleek lace up boot would, to my eyes, be much more attractive. the little girl dress and ankle socks? nooo… some killer jeans and a plain white tee? yes!
September 24, 2011 at 9:27 pm
whether or not you love her outfit in this case, you’ve got to admit Opening Ceremony’s Kate Foley (2nd pic) has great overall style: http://www.refinery29.com/my-style-at-home-with-kate-foley-of-opening-ceremony?page=5
September 24, 2011 at 9:56 pm
Like each jackets OK.
Dislike the rest of each outfit, however.
If I had to choose one, it would be New York with new shoes. Get rid of the stilettos. Wear some cool Trippens.

Love the shoes, hair, glasses, clothes………

The second look makes me want to experiment more with socks. The first look blends practicality and sophistication. I love the fact that their jackets render their handbags obsolete.
September 24, 2011 at 11:05 pm
I might be going against the grain here but I think the second outfit is awful. There are too many horizontal lines and it makes her look short and stumpy, not flattering. Or is fit and flatter ignored for ‘style’?
Preggers Fashion is IN?
September 25, 2011 at 12:19 am
I totally missed the similarity in jackets because I was wondering why “Preggers Fashion” is so IN right now.
I don’t need extra inches at the hips. I have plenty to spare. These ladies look thin and lovely but the dresses don’t impress.
Socks with wedges make walking possible, people. Infantilisation of women? Not!
September 25, 2011 at 12:37 am
love the jackets!
September 25, 2011 at 1:26 am
loving that first look
September 25, 2011 at 3:05 am
Ultra chic. Love it!
September 25, 2011 at 3:46 am
I moved a month ago to Paris, and since then I have noticed so many women and men wearing this style jacket. It is really cute, but when an item becomes so ubiquitous, it loses its character, unless worn really well, of course.
September 25, 2011 at 3:51 am
I love the mixture between elegant e sporty of the first picture.
September 25, 2011 at 3:54 am
i love the last one’s jacket. amazing.
September 25, 2011 at 4:29 am
Still love military coats, though they’ve been round the block on the trend scale. They just have that easy, relaxed look. I love how unexpected the london look is, with the lace dress.
September 25, 2011 at 4:45 am
September 25, 2011 at 5:33 am
love the contrast b/w the lace and military jacket.
September 25, 2011 at 5:59 am
Thanks for both looks!

We love the first jacket… i wish i can get a better view of her necklace … it looks very funky!
September 25, 2011 at 8:22 am
i love the 2nd dress..
September 25, 2011 at 8:47 am
Somehow the shoes don’t work in either picture … not sure the red carpet shoes are appropriate day wear nor the black shoes working with the 2nd look … cut off the shoes and both looks are fabulous
September 25, 2011 at 8:48 am
love the attitude of the London girl. Very strong and edgy. Her pale skin and deep red lipstick are lovely with the innocent white of her dress, and also works with the more masculine jacket. Not so keen on the New York look. The shoes look painful and, although I know this is about 2 looks crashing into each other, stilettos and an army coat? It doesn’t work for me and looks more accidental than a ‘choice’, unlike the second photo.
September 25, 2011 at 9:53 am
In this post Style + Innocence…. ummmm i like both!
September 25, 2011 at 10:04 am
The first look is stunning! The secondo one…well, nobody should wear white socks.
September 25, 2011 at 11:43 am
Love the heels in both. The women are beautiful, and incredibly stylish.
September 25, 2011 at 12:17 pm
I admire the military VS uber feminine in the first look, she looks absolutely stunning and not overdone.
September 25, 2011 at 1:00 pm
The second girl looks stunning! Such a great outfit!

September 25, 2011 at 1:15 pm
Looking at these two pictures make me miss the European style. Now, having lived in Paris for over 11 years, I find the beautiful American women too clean, too perfect, and slightly vulgar. Maybe its the fashion, maybe its the women. Life goes on…..
September 25, 2011 at 1:25 pm
Absolutely love them both!
September 25, 2011 at 2:30 pm
I really love both of these looks. So inspired by this post that I think I will a) Wear my white into the Fall and B) Still wear my various military-inspired pieces this season.
September 25, 2011 at 4:28 pm
I love the style so Military look! Simple Cute dress with a Military Jacket! great look!
September 26, 2011 at 12:46 am
Shoes with that much height should make the wearer’s legs look a mile long, but the ankle strap ruins the optical illusion. I see women with short legs wearing high heels.
September 26, 2011 at 2:18 am
oh dear. the second look. i love it!
September 26, 2011 at 10:28 am
my mistake, seem pic 2 is a Londoner…yipee! (sorry NY)

Love the military jackets! and Army green is one of my favorites!!
Dlight from La Rue A Du Style, Paris.
September 26, 2011 at 7:10 pm
I feel the shoes on the first don’t fit her properly and just makes the outfit a bit chunky and cheap.
There’s something really fun about the second and oddly although her shoes are obviously chunky, she looks groovy, playful and most of all for an outfit like that, confident. Love the red lipstick which adds a splash of va-voom to a neutral coloured outfit.
September 26, 2011 at 7:43 pm
Both women are beautiful but look very odd in these outfits–the proportions are off, and I can’t imagine where these outfits would be appropriate.
In the first photo the skirt (??) looks too short, and she looks about to totter over in those (otherwise very cute!) heels simply standing still.
In the second photo the flared drop-waist skirt on the dress is unique, I suppose, but definitely not flattering.
Both looks seem boxy and like they’re not doing the wearer justice.
September 26, 2011 at 8:49 pm
This whole outfit does not look good on this attractive young woman….proportions don’t work for her….a fashion faux pas in my book!!
September 26, 2011 at 11:50 pm
Beautiful jackets! This is a great way to wear a pretty dress and not feel like a dressed up fool. Usually I feel shy when I wear something so feminine as a dress and heels, and the military jacket is even better idea then the typical denim that I wear to make the dress more down to earth. This looks perfect for both fall and spiring, especially with the cute socks on the bottom picture. I can’t wait to give this a go. very inspiring.
September 27, 2011 at 12:48 pm
Love the first outfit. Killer legs too!!
September 27, 2011 at 1:58 pm
This first girl’s shoes are too big!
September 27, 2011 at 2:53 pm
Does anyone know where the nude platforms are from? I could sure use a pair. Or even any ideas for something like them.
September 29, 2011 at 6:32 pm
I like the eclectic mix with the khaki jackets but the look of the girl in top photo is a bit cheap and tacky…especially the shoes.
October 8, 2011 at 1:10 pm
Love the second photo. Great Scott!
January 6, 2012 at 6:30 pm
Don’t think I’ll ever fall for the socks with wedges thing.. but I love the military chic outfit
