I really don’t get this post, but I like the bike.
September 16, 2011 at 8:41 am
Good thing the cold autumn weather stayed away for a bit! :)

Beautiful! And I support all the efforts to make NY a bike-friendly city. I don’t live there but my son does and he rides his all over Brooklyn and NYC, carrying his trumpet.

Lol! I wasn’t at fashion week but my thanks for transportation to my early 1990′s (no shocks-very old school) mountain bike! Still runs great after 20 years and many miles.
September 16, 2011 at 8:56 am
I can’t wait until I get a good bike so that I can ride it all over the place during fashion week. Cute post.

I was basically expecting a limo in this pic, but I’ve been to NY, this makes logical sense.

those bikes appear very functional with a slight flair of safety– stylish in a practical way!
September 16, 2011 at 9:39 am
Also want to say that it reminds me of a movie I just watched: “Bill Cunningham New York.” A must see for followers of this blog!

NYC will have a bike share program next summer!
September 16, 2011 at 10:03 am
Funny…I got a cab right outside Exit Space (with Skylight West just across the street) with two events going on in both places simultaneously.
P.S. Trashing my old Walmart special for a new 3 speed cruiser soon.

You named your bike Mr. Huffy? ;-D
September 16, 2011 at 10:16 am
Hi, I like riding! Frances http://www.theafternoontea.it

Two wheels good – four wheels bad.
September 16, 2011 at 10:43 am
Huffy is a bicycle brand as is- Schwinn. Great photo!

Geez, even your bikes are adorable together!
September 16, 2011 at 12:32 pm
this is absolutely magnificent!
You guys are the best!!! Coolest most unpretentious fashionable couple out there. Keep up the great work!
September 16, 2011 at 12:44 pm
Huffy? I enjoy your blog, style and mode of transport but HUFFY? SO many stylish choices available! It’s a critical accessory! Look at all your European bicycle photos. They don’t ride cheesy bikes. You need better wheels. And a good lock. Done with rant.

Love, love this!
I’ve even taken a pedicab in NYC, even if I looked like a ridiculous tourist, just because I thought the idea of pedal power was so great!

The only way to go!!!

Did you roll your pants leg up or did you have a stylish elastic band to keep clear of the chain?
September 16, 2011 at 1:07 pm
As a fellow NYC biker, I love this. My guy is Ross.
September 16, 2011 at 1:08 pm
Here’s where to get stylish helmets to go with those lovely bikes and even lovelier brains!
So adore your blog, thank you.
Would appreciate more body type diversity but always leave inspired.

No Copenhagen wheels?
September 16, 2011 at 4:06 pm
On a bike is the place to be right now
September 16, 2011 at 4:19 pm
Huffy and Schwinn make a nice couple! Why are people criticizing these lovely wheeled steeds? There is nothing sillier than form over function when it comes to bikes. These two lovelies pictured have a beauty in their dedication to duty and allegiance to rider!! And a fine collection of safety gear on both! There is also nothing finer than a nice big basket!

Wonderful Mr. Huffy and Ms. Schwinn.

This just warms my heart man.
September 16, 2011 at 5:48 pm
Definately the best and fastest drivers in such a chaotic traffic!
Love the names!
September 16, 2011 at 6:05 pm
How clever!:) That’s how I travel a lot so that just made my day. I wish where I live in Iowa was like that…..:)

I live in Copenhagen and it is so nice to see people in other cities around the world favoring bicycles as their form of transit.

hehe bike names crack me up :) some fly rides you have there! xxx
September 17, 2011 at 1:55 pm
@reigs. The Pashley bikes are an excellent choice. Brooks saddles. Classic English styling. Sart would look amazing on several of them. There are so many interesting bike makers out there – the bicycle equivalent of having bespoke shoes or a tailor made suit.
An odd memory – Literally the first day I drove a van with my things into NYC from Chicago, my rearview mirror JUST missed braining George Plimpton who was buzzing around the UES on his English 3-speed. Talk about a brush with fame!
September 17, 2011 at 2:04 pm
I loooove this post because I love bikes. I love biking all over my town. I can go for miles and miles.
September 17, 2011 at 7:29 pm
Biking all over the city is sublime and when you have a friend who enjoys the pleasure of biking, well, that is nice, too. Let us bring this car culture to its knees, if only by photographing bikes.
September 18, 2011 at 6:30 am
@AnthonyC. George Plimpton! Wow! Yes I agree The Sart would look pretty classy on a Pashley, perhaps in a Barbour with brogues and just the right socks? :-)

Love the vintage bikes…!
September 18, 2011 at 12:51 pm
this anthonyC chap is right…. your huffy doesn’t suit you…. but i say neither do his suggestions…. build the bike yourself, but avoid the obvious (brooks saddle) buy an old chicago schwinn
September 18, 2011 at 1:53 pm
I ride all over the Twin Cities on a mid-70s Huffy 3-speed, year round, often in a dress and heels. The good health and happiness that comes from riding a bicycle enhances style!
September 18, 2011 at 4:08 pm
Ahaha ! smart way to move in the crowded NYC :)
September 18, 2011 at 10:43 pm
THANK YOU! Thanks for riding a bike. And publishing that fact. And looking and being fabulous while doing so. And sharing others whom you spot pedaling around and looking poised and pretty to boot. I am a cycle commuter in Austin, TX and we pride ourselves on riding stylishly over here as well….We have way more heat and sweat to be concerned with, but no bother.

Bicycles are a great way to get around. And nothing wrong with the Huffy as long as you are comfortable on it and it works. Happy riding!
September 21, 2011 at 9:29 pm
you guys desperately need better bikes. the schwinn is maybe ok (but not necessarily), but huffy? yikes. terrible quality bike. sorry, i’m a bike quality snob. if the purpose is function over form, then these bikes definitely fail. :o
September 23, 2011 at 9:37 pm
Hight five for biking in the city ! We should all repossess the streets ;-)
September 28, 2011 at 6:58 pm
Yay! Bikes rule. So much more efficient when the streets are jammed and cabs are packed.
