I love the simplicity of her look. I’d like to exchange her shoes, but other than that I really like this outfit! Love the hair, and the fact that she’s not wearing makeup; she looks so “natural.”
Sooo layed-back, on the edge with hippie! Very nice for hot summer days.

Okay, this will be right or very wrong, but if right, she looks like she has a quite little pregnant belly, and she is gorgeous pregnant (if not pregnant, it must be the wind/light, so sorry!!). I am around the same week I think, cause my belly is like that too… she looks so lovely in the dress…
Must say, I really don’t understand why Converse are so huge in the States… and elsewhere. They look cool– bring to mind old school, nonchalance, versatility, simplicity, function meets style etc–but they are so uncomfortable! The toe box crowds the toes pushing the big toe inwards. There is absolutely no support for the arch. I don’t understand fashion that is designed to look comfortable but isn’t. May as well wear heels. Is it only me who finds them so uncomfortable?
@emiltona, no it’s not only you! I find them quite uncomfortable too, even with socks, they chafe my toes, and you’re right, there’s no arch support! Honestly, I have ballerinas that are far more comfortable. Maybe it’s just our feet?! Or else everyone suffers in silence to look cool. :)
I love the easy summer dress with sneakers. I wore a cute striped dress (JPG for Target) yesterday with my converse. I felt cute and comfy! Nothin’ better!
This outfit looks incredibly comfortable to run around town in. I love it. Converse are my best friend and maybe I should pair them with dresses for class. Have a wonderful day.
@ Ann-Marie: My Chucks are quite comfy, but I always put in a pair of Dr. Scholl’s insoles. The basic-level foam insoles help immensely & sort of customize the fit.
The woman in the photo is lovely, and if she is pregnant, she’s found a terrific look for it!
I can not take this talk of them being uncomfortable seriously. Converse and Keds are the most comfortable shoes in the whole world. More comfortable then running shoes even. I could walk across the city in them and never once feel anything. So could most people. That is the whole POINT of wearing them. COMFORT. Rather then uncomfortable heels or sandals that have straps which hurt, and that make you stand on tippy toes and hobble you so you can’t run. Do you honestly think all those grungy guys are “suffering in silence” and wearing their Converse down to ribbons of cloth and holes just to be cool? How about all the young kids who wear them? You think they are suffering for fashion? People skate board in them, play basketball in them. No one I know thinks the are anything but comfortable. Sorry for the rant but its too weird to complain of uncomfort with a flat rubber soled tennis shoe. Its just silly. Most people like flat shoes. Thats how people are meant to walk. If you find Converse uncomfortable what on earth can you wear???????
PS, I do believe she is pregnant, but it may just be the fold of the fabric. She looks lovely and glowing. The blog has inspired me to go au naturel as far as make up goes (ok, a bit of tinted moisturizer, I need the spf anyhow!)
I just fell in love with this page at the first sight. On these pics there are people from the five continents in clothes that are fantasic/ispiring and sometimes shocking (for me).
But I miss one thing: Eastern/Central Europe. I searched for some cities but I could find anything. I think those cities (Budapest, Prague etc…) worth a glimpse.
@une chatte grise, thank you for the helpful tip! I will try this. I have very narrow, low feet, so that might be part the problem.
@Martine, feet do come in different shapes and sizes, and I wasn’t complaining for the sake of it, just agreeing with someone else’s opinion and posing my own question. I love the way Converse shoes look and I would love for them to be more comfortable. Hopefully with the above tip, they will be. Jeez.
I think her hair is what makes this look. Effortless highlights framing her face gives such ease to this flowy dress. Shoes wouldn’t be my choice, but it works for her.
I have wide feet and can’t wear converse, personally. FWIW, Simple makes an awesome version that’s very similar, works well for wide feet, and are made with recycled car tires and hemp. I love them!
I also love her no makeup look, too.
@martine & @emiltona, I can’t wear Converses either. My feet are very wide, and the toebox really pushes the big toe inwards. It’s difficult to find shoes, that wouldn’t hurt my feet.
Having recently discovered that I’m expecting my first child I’ve been scouring the internet for satorial references and ideas for when my bump begins to show, only to discover pregnant women are all but invisible save for the somewhat boring pregnancy blogs and networks … how refreshing to see a beautiful woman in a gorgeous dress who just happens to be with child …
Her clean scrubbed & bare mien constrasts strongly with the dirty shoes. I love comfortable shoes as much as the next girl. Perhaps much more than the next girl.
I schlep around in running shoes when I am not looking to impress. Sart, does anyone else do this? Or should I convert to the House of Converse?
It’s interesting to see the cultural context of clothing and footwear. In Northern Ireland, where I am originally from, only the “millies” wore this kind of footwear in the seventies and the eighties. In otherwards, it was associated with rougher, bully types who came from housing projects. One time a girl from junior highschool tried to beat me up one day when she was wearing these shoes— and all I can say is hooray for big, heavy seventies wedgies…. (that I was wearing at the time) :-)

I have to weigh in on the Converse. I too, find them uncomfortable. I feel like I’m wearing clown shoes. They’re floppy and have no arch support. My lower back hurts hurts wearing them after a few minutes. And that makes me really sad. Because I love them. High-tops, low-tops in any color. They’re the most down home unpretentious sneaker. Actually, I hardly ever wear sneakers in pubic. They make me feel sloppy. I wish they didn’t and I could rock them this hard.
