I wish I could be dressing like this right now, but I’m in Ottawa! I agree about the colours, and the pants make the look so much better, for me, than jeans would.
Aw, the colour palette is perfect, especially for the time of year and weather we’ve been having. The pop of teal peaking of of the sleeves just completes it.
I know that I always tend to comment on people’s faces and atitudes and on the backgrounds instead of actually the outfits. But, I can’t help it, more by the outfit and the colors this gentleman is wearing, my eye is caught by his misterious face. Like other people commented above me, I wonder who he is…
a post-punk take on the Romantic consumptive poet look…? I love the colours! especially that silvery paving unfolding behind, and the slight redness and puffiness of his eyes, a slightly more…human (for want of a better word) touch against the sleekness of his look. And that little bright badge, I wonder what it says…
I am totally outside the fashion industry but this blog has me hooked. I have been frequenting it for months now and would say that my eye for colors has improved immeasureably. Photos like this one fascinate me and I study them carefully.
My shirt and tie collection has significantly improved and I get compliments now, which in Milano is NOT easy, since fashion is like a sport here that everyone plays.
Thanks so much to you all for sharpen the eye of this nearly color blind fool!
Indeed nice look! Love the jacket. With the epaulettes, the vertical zipperpockets and the big flap waist pockets. Is that a pin-on- button he is wearing at the top closure? Not to obvious, but gives the jacket that extra subtle detail. Slightly military, tailored, punk are words coming to mind. It rocks!
he looks like the lovechild of orlando bloom and adrien brody (that’s a good thing). i wonder what the button says. also love that little detail of the chain link bracelet/watch.
perfect color combo for the winter… the construction of the jacket is great and it fits him perfectly… the look is timeless… and very downtown-chic! ;-)
sure, cool jacket and simple approach…but does all it really take to make a great outfit is a cool jacket? He has paired with simple trousers and a tousled mop up top…hardly a forward look to me. It is a good, understated color match that works well…but as fashion guru is “greeny-blue” best you could descript? Then again, it is better than average styling for a guy…
Isn’t this dude some kind of writer/editor/janitor? for a magazine? Anyways, love the fit of the jacket and the color of the sweater. I’m wearing mine around the house because of this picture and I adore the bracelet. Very chic and understated in his own little way. Also miss the dog though.
unless the photos was reversed, i think those are womens trousers. dickies girl trousers and jeans fit well on men who are slim through the hips and thighs.
i like how the jacket is tight across his shoulders without pulling too much across the chest.
glad to see he’s becoming somewhat of a regular. he has one of those beautiful faces that are hard to forget and a seemingly simple but interesting style.
I think your camera has a crush, because haven’t we seen this fetching lad on your blog before? (On The Street…..UPDATE The Fashion Editor, Nolita – Dec. 5, 2006)
He looked amazing then and he looks so chic now!
You should try to snap a photo of him in the Spring, as I’d be curious to check out his warm-weather look! (So far we’ve only seen him giving us F/W….)
such a poetic face, probably the American counterpart of Oli. Theyskens, which is rarely seen in U.S. young lads. i really like the cut, someone said a.p.c.? if so, they improved their cutting then, he looks good in the blue-collar blue and emerald green knitwear (both are quite difficult to pull off usually). I couldn’t help but notice the chain bracelet. Above all, he has that face and hairdo that draw all the attention. Lucky chap!
Giuseppe, I so do not agree with you. I think the fit is what makes him look amazing. Besides, the photo is titled “A Little Rock ‘n’ Roll”. Bigger would make him look conservative like everyone else. Maybe you just want his ensemble, but prefer it larger?
His clothes are NOT to small – it’s called fitted! … I realise most American men like the idea of wearing tents but fitted clothes are far more appealing. The fit is perfectly fine, he’s pretty lean – he doesn’t need overly baggy threads unless he’s trying to replicate 50 cent or someone like that – which I’m sure we would agree is not a great look.
i’m pretty sure this guy styles for the new and somewhat improved ELLE magazine.
interesting texture to the pants.
i do like the slice of teal sweater underneath the navy jacket, even though it’s a color i usually picture on a woman, in the form of a twin-set cardigan or something matronly.
from a distance he reminds me a tad bit of singer Jesse Malin.
then, his trousers fit him quite well. its not pulling at the crotch or n e thing like that. the jacket looks casual but tailored at the same time. hes got this sort of awkward posture and the hands in the pocket make me think of dork… but the cute dork.
Beautiful face on a beautiful man. It looks like everything he is wearing is APC from what I can see. The jacket is APC, and the sweater beneath is probably APC… He looks beautiful in their fall catalogue.

Like the colors, but not crazy about the jacket’s fit–nor “patches” plus epaulettes.
By the way, it’s been rather cold in NYC for awhile; is there something about this guy’s age that makes him impervious to the chill? Or?
