One word for her – saucy! (And adorable. Two words.)

Oh my she’s amazing (how come I;m living in Delhi and bever get to see anything like this?)- where did you shoot her anyway, near Delhi University?
March 18, 2008 at 10:18 am
Also, point worth noting: very few girls in Delhi actually wear knee-length (or shorter) skirts- which is why I admire this girl all the more. I can testify to having put all mine away because I got sick of being leered at on the street..

Work! Those pockets a nice addition to this pouffy skirt. I am not even missing a handbag, here. The fact that she has chosen T-shirt with an iconic logo from, it looks like, ’76 is genius. Those mary-jane flats are cute and practical.

love the attitude this girl’s rockin’.
March 18, 2008 at 10:36 am
Again another pair of cute shoes but the rest? Not stylish at all.

I am glad to see that you don’t stay always in the same fashion places.

amazing pattern on the skirt! she’s so cute.
March 18, 2008 at 11:07 am
I love the juxtaposition of the busy, colorful skirt with the black Stones tee. Great contrast! And I love the attitude you can plainly see with just one glance at the picture.

Your pictures from New Delhi are great and “something new”. Have been staying in Tokyo since ten days- i think you would have lots of material for you blog here :)

I like the skirt with the pockets. I’m a fan of pockets.
March 18, 2008 at 11:52 am
I hope you are buying bolts of fabric for your daughters.

March 18, 2008 at 12:37 pm
Yea, I like the skirt too…the pattern reminds me of the inside of a pomegranate! :)
WHY DON'T YOU.....
March 18, 2008 at 12:42 pm
I’m loving this New Delhi report. It’s quite different from your usual work and here really….we can see something new, soul…. The Red and Blue photo is your best one ever and the more I look in those eyes the more I understand photography can sometimes go behind appereances. Thank you for proving it’s not all about marvellous women in hyppo shoes, huge bag, blackberry on right hand.M.

sorry, i hate this outfit. it’s boring and completely unstylish. i love almost everything put up, but i can’t tell you how many times i’ve seen old rock tees paired with skirts and all of a sudden it’s praised as some work of a fashion genius. i don’t get it.
March 18, 2008 at 7:49 pm
Don’t really dig the outfit, but love the way she carries it. What a saucy babe.
March 18, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Very cool look!
March 18, 2008 at 9:00 pm
How cute! I had a similar outfit almost twenty years ago.
March 19, 2008 at 12:15 am
Definitely not a fan of this. It’s cute and I love big skirts, but jeez, that shirt is definitely not right with it.
March 19, 2008 at 12:16 am
Cool. I love her pouting too. :)
March 19, 2008 at 12:59 am
hey!!!!! i know her…shen!!! you look so coooolll and so hmmm. love it, love how everything has come together. want the skirt so bad.
March 19, 2008 at 1:26 am
i absolutely ADORE the skirt!
personally, i wouldn’t pair it with a vintage concert tee, but props to her for having the guts to experiment.

she’s so rock’n roll!
March 19, 2008 at 10:20 am
The girl is cute and so is the skirt. But I don’t see anything brilliant, unique, or unusual about this outfit. I guess it adds some sort of halo to your outfit simply to be on the Sartorialist…
March 19, 2008 at 12:21 pm
cute outfit! love the skirt…cool
March 19, 2008 at 12:42 pm
adorable shen!x – rin
March 19, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Oh my goodness. Are the skirt and shirt METALLIC?? In love with that skirt!
To anonymous 6:27 pm: Put it in context. That outfit is pretty fresh for America, but in India? Totally unique. It’s almost a comment on what femininity can be in that country.
March 19, 2008 at 3:02 pm
Cute skit. She’s fun!
March 20, 2008 at 1:19 am
Shen’s got some style! I’m in love! From what I hear, she also happens to be a very good designer. I wore one of her dresses once!!! totally gorgeous!
Shen is the only one who can pull off a rolling stones T-shirt with a skirt like that.
muah muah muah!
March 20, 2008 at 8:18 am
Cute. Love the feet! lol
March 20, 2008 at 9:14 am
Oh gee, another person in the fashion biz. All we need now is someone to come forward and tell us the kid with the bike is the new Delacroix!!!
March 20, 2008 at 4:19 pm
Huh? The skirt on its own is pretty (though the small photo makes it look like culottes), but matched with the t-shirt? Ugh. Certainly this may be a daring outfit in India, though it’s certainly NOT sartorial in anyway. Hard to imagine this being on the same site as the Grey & Purple, Milan outfit (which is stunning).
March 20, 2008 at 4:22 pm
something simple like this can be so hot!
March 21, 2008 at 2:33 pm
March 21, 2008 at 3:55 pm
the skirt is a little overwhelming, but love the attitude-
March 22, 2008 at 11:55 pm
i love the pattern of this skirt. its like one of my head scalfs.i love the way she has tucked in her shirt.the black really goes well.
March 25, 2008 at 1:30 pm
This was how I used to dress as a teenager – pull the nearest t-shirt and bottom, be it skirt, culottes, jeans whatever with nary a thought as to how they went together. (Not saying she did that, just saying that that’s what I did to get a similar look). Who would have thunk that it would be on The Sartorialist?
March 25, 2008 at 4:05 pm
i know her..she’s shen!!awesome skirt…love the pout..misya muah muah!
August 27, 2011 at 11:33 am
She looks perfect. Great style. The rocker shirt is absolutely perfect with the big print skirt. How perfectly cool is the outfit, and how perfectly great is her expression. She looks like someone I would love to know.
August 27, 2011 at 11:37 am
People; get a clue. Having style doesn’t mean wearing something that has never been seen before, or is complex and unusual. Having great styli is this picture right here. Doing something that is good, and doing it well. Just because you have seen people wear rock shirts and skirts before doesn’t mean this isn’t a great outfit.
April 24, 2013 at 12:49 pm
STONES! It’s cool how she mixed things up with this look – a rock tshirt with a tailored skirt and cute, simple hair and accessories.
