I adore his use of different blues and blacks as well as his subtle punk details. Lovely.

He has a very stern look on his face, wonder why. The dark outfit looks good on him, although it has a small feminine touch in it.

OK, let me admit right off the bat that I am totally biased because I love your model. Combat boots are definitely on my shopping list this fall- waiting for the Gap/Pierre Hardy ones to come out. The proportions are stunning; his frame can wear anything and look hot, I don’t know how else to explain a combination of black jeans, no belt (mon dieu!), rolled sleeves in a jacket that is too short, and it is NOT a cropped jacket, and that is probably why the sleeves are rolled in the first place…

Love it, love it, love it. Favorite pieces? the boots and the bag. Jorge from W Palm Beach

Surely that’s a kilt pin not a safety pin. Not sure punk’s wore those. Not sharp enough to get through your nose! t.x

Aah, the very young can get away with anything! He’s obviously not got a bean – there’s a reason those sleeves are rolled up – but who cares: a photographer might spot him and change his life (or at least make his day!).

my first thought was: beautiful, but why so severe? would it have killed him to smile a little -especially given the playful, giant pin

This photo made me smile, as did the one above it. It’s perhaps as much costume as fashion, with a hint of playing dress up thrown in due to his very young look. I like the boots- I like it all; mainly for its’ sense of fun and a touch of whimsy. Very nice.

The epitomy of hot. Great haircut, beautiful combination of chiselled features and softness…fierce threads, and the confidence to carry a man-purse. Score!

His suit and shirt are so blue, his hair is so yellow, and combined with the boots ge makes me think of a Swedish officer circa 1700 (in a good way).

    In reply to yariten:
I have no idea wheter this guy is rich or poor, but his sleeves are not rolled up because he couldn’t afford a jacket in his size, but because it is very trendy in Stockholm right now. Worn out 50:s, chinos, jackets, shirts. We roll them all up to get that effortless look.

The colors are great. The shirt and the jacket work together.
The only thing that I would change is the length of the collar on his shirt. I’d go with a shorter collar to better fit with the thin necktie.

The proportion of this outfit is simply perfect, and the balance of the blue on black makes it all the more stunning.

But that’s what you’d expect from a style king such as Gustav Broström. He’s a writer for the Swedish fashion blog ModeMan (http://modeman.feber.se/).

Congratulations Sartorialist for starting to get out of the usual US-UK-France-Italy circuits!

There is so much to see and so many interesting people dressing up all over the world. People and styles in places like Antwerp, Copenhaguen, Istanbul, Tokyo, Buenos Aires, Barcelona -just to mention a few- are not to be missed.

Hope you continue with this most welcomed international expansion. I was missing that in your site!

I have to admit that I am not a fan of anyone named Gustav right now as there’s a Hurricane Gustav in the Caribbean coming a bit too close for comfort to Jamaica.

Hmm…those sleeves and the pin are very interesting.

Most of all though I love his hair. It’s so shiny and clean looking. And the colour!

Like someone else mentioned, congrats on finally expanding your fashion-searching scope outside of the cliché NYC-London-Paris-Milan. Though they are all certainly very fashionable cities, you’ve yet to discover the fashion gems that are Mexico City, São Paulo, and Reykjavík.

Swedes have fantastic, seemingly innate fashion know-how and always manage to look effortlessly cool. This bloke is no exception, of course. Love the colours. He looks chic enough to go to the office, but the giant safety pin and cuffed sleeves add a nice touch of whimsy to an otherwise serious look.

Keep up the nice work !

No better – and no worse – than all the other vaguely Lanvin-filtered-by-Acne-Jeans outfits that so many young men on Södermalm seem to favor at the moment. It’s a clone phenomenon, really. Thus not very inspiring, to my eyes.

i think this outfit is perfect. no, it does not need any punches of color. the layering of two different blues, the precise sharpness of his collar, the black tie *tucked* into his jeans, the dashing black bag, the subtle but obvious pin, and of course, his devastatingly bold selection of footwear.

  65. Miljenko

    September 8, 2008 at 11:40 pm

very graphic in its colors, yet the dark tones veil the blue-black layering, thus the whole is rich in color yet consistent. It’s great!
