This woman appears poised and assured with her wonderful mix of rich sapphire and amethyst, gold and pewter. Wow, love this photograph. The fluid styling of the outfit takes the scary out of the harem pants. Good thing she appears to be six feet tall. What time of day do you shoot? Your lighting is always tender.
Too much like a baby romper….i think the drop crotch look is okay if its punked up or worn tongue in cheek…..but it doesn’t work if you try and pretty it up like this…..wrong fabric, jacket too smart etc………just looks like an almost dress gone wrong……….
Yuck. I say no on the pant. But the colors are so lush, and the scarf is riiich. It’s a really beautiful ensem when you ignore the saggy diaper thing going on.
Wow they are not afraid of a drop-crotch pant in Moscow. I’m really feeling it though, and she’s got all the proportions right. These women are all striking in an unconventional way.
To the anonymous commenter who wrote, “I’m tired of people expecting women’s fashion to be about what flatters the figure and shows off the body. It’s very refreshing to see women wearing clothes as art pieces…”: I do notice that a woman like this need not worry so much about flattery. Some of us, however fabulous we are, need more help from our clothes and probably couldn’t do “art” justice.
the jumpsuit that everyone is referring to is junya watanabe or inspired by. nothing new, and always appropriate when worn by the right person, which is the case here. i think that the point is that she, the proportion of her look, and the background make for a great composition as a whole photography-wise.
Lovely colour combination. But why does she have the scarf wrapped around her neck, as if the weather asked for wamth, if she is not going to wear any socks?
I don’t like the purple jumpsuit-thing. Still, I think she’s very pretty and the outfit is very well put together. And I love how she’s wearing blue, gold and purple bangles that match the other clothes exactly!
just wanted to leave a bit of an observational comment about the comments. I find that when judging outfits from, say, NY, or Paris, people simply judge the outfit, how the person is wearing it.. etc. However, when I read people’s comments about all the photos from Moscow, a lot of cultural (often misguided or ignorant) references, attitudes, expecations come to affect how people see the outfit. Oh and by the way, drop crotch is very in right now here in Sydney too, it’s been on the runways since the fall – hence WHY you are seeing in in Moscow – not because like some put it, Russians have “an eastern infulence”, that’s a bit laughable.
I agree. It is sad for people to constantly look for clothing that makes their bodies appear to be different then they are. If all you want is to look like you have longer legs, a smaller waist, and thinner hips, then put on a pair of stilts, spanx and a corset and be done with it. It is much more pleasant to see the clothing as self expression and art. Not some scam to make women more sexy to their prospective mates.

I noticed that too, dene. Only in this case, it’s a hybrid of a jumpsuit and drop-crotch pants, which takes it to a whole new level :P
