Looks like an extra in a Leni Riefenstahl movie. Very ’30s deutsche. Also, a bit retro 1985. She does have nice shoulders and legs, I must say, and the lighting and color are nice and crisp.

love the composition & colors in this shot. but is this really NYC right now? BBBRrrrrr.
November 12, 2008 at 5:09 pm
Those boots are amazingly perfect for her.
November 12, 2008 at 5:10 pm
Back to NYC already? The outfit and background go beautifully together :)
November 12, 2008 at 5:22 pm
Fabulous! This photo is remindful in the best way of the imagery of painter Edward Hopper: this is a true work of art.

November 12, 2008 at 5:40 pm
Eww. She is not doing herself any favours. It’s almost too clever for it’s own good. Somewhere between conceptual and casual? Not a happy place.
November 12, 2008 at 5:44 pm
Wow. I love the black and red clothes, “Anger” in the background and her solemn expression contrasted with the bright sunlight. And the fact that the wall is black and red makes it even better!Great photograph!
November 12, 2008 at 6:02 pm
hey hair looks amazing along with those boots.
November 12, 2008 at 6:05 pm
Wonderful photo. That girl. “Danger” is more apropos. :-)
The Clever Pup
November 12, 2008 at 6:11 pm
I was not as moved as some. At first glance she could have been from The Breakfast Club or Pretty in Pink.
November 12, 2008 at 6:13 pm
oh I think this is not that much about her clothes. I love the composition of the photo.
It´s dominated by squares!3 red squares on the left, many small ones in the window, then the two white stripes according to the two black stripes of her suspenders…may be the partition of the golden cut, plus the cut word “anger” which could also be the name of the small person ( her shadow) that is walking away on the ground…and the one white stripe that is leading over her body towards the letters… black, white and red as main colours… very very inspiring, very well done, very much thank you!!!
November 12, 2008 at 6:32 pm
She looks like she walked straight out of 1984 (in a good way!). I love the mini-suspender dress and the motorcycle boots. The tube top, though, is a little much, but she pulls it off. Oh, and NICE gams!
There's an old gay man sparkling inside of me.
She literally looks white hot. I just adore how her boots appear as if they are melting off of her. The Danger sign in the back is the perfect touch.
November 12, 2008 at 6:39 pm
beautiful! but there’s no way to wear that in November in NYC or Montreal :) show me some winter styles.. I need to buy a coat
November 12, 2008 at 6:51 pm
the photo is brilliant. the feel is so 90′s. I love it.
November 12, 2008 at 6:54 pm
I’d be angry, too, if I realized I’d actually left the house in overalls.
November 12, 2008 at 6:59 pm
I love how the red and black returns in the picture, but I do not like her outfit. I think people wearing only American Apparel clothing (OK there ARE exceptions, don’t get me wrong) but most of the time they look so plain and totally not original.
November 12, 2008 at 7:06 pm
She’s channeling Rudi Gernreich – well done!
November 12, 2008 at 7:09 pm
The colors are fantastic and the composition is wonderful.
The AA clothing – not so much.
November 12, 2008 at 7:28 pm
i think it’s a really fantastic shot, but it’s a shame that she’s wearing all american apparel.
November 12, 2008 at 7:42 pm
Brought to you by american apparel!
Black short alls + rouched body suit
November 12, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Wow! Just like a movie scene.
November 12, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Interesting…I think I may just like this. Not for me of course but I love her boots, appreciate her adrogynous hair and face, her fierce pose and the DANGER/ANGER colours. It’s different.
I bet she’s rocking a really cool cold weather look right now. You should hunt her down!
November 12, 2008 at 8:33 pm
what a babe, and it’s all from american apparel! she’s wearing the thick knit jersey short-alls and the cotton spandex jersey strapless ruched bodysuit. judging by her angry look she probably works there as well. i love that store!
November 12, 2008 at 8:35 pm
I have those boots. Why don’t they look like that on me?
the photo is great and she wears the clothes well.
but i do not see very much originality. this outfit is straight out of an american apparel catalog.

Wow, I really love this look.. strong but still really feminine.

November 12, 2008 at 9:10 pm
This look and its accompanying background gave you an opportunitiy for another brilliant photo, aside from that there is little of interest, another costume wearer. She may be having great fun with it- impossible to tell, but it looks too self-conscious to be much fun.
November 12, 2008 at 9:17 pm
no no no
as an art picture then, yes.
The low overall coverup, really?
she is beautiful.
It’s the outfit I could do without.
November 12, 2008 at 9:33 pm
no one has said anything about the hair?! red, short and brave. while this look could look cheap and trashy, it looks more artsy and edgy. and as someone above said, more like DANGER!
November 12, 2008 at 9:38 pm
i love her hair!
November 12, 2008 at 9:39 pm
HA-those are my boots!
November 12, 2008 at 9:47 pm
All american apparel…. weak.
November 12, 2008 at 10:04 pm
Ha I was just going to mention that this reminds me of Hopper’s Nighthawks! I see someone beat me to it!
November 12, 2008 at 10:42 pm
The top and jumper are from AA. My first thought was, she must be freezing!
November 12, 2008 at 10:56 pm
if I had to judge where to be for the rest of my life from this photo or the one below, I'd be on the next plane to Rio!great photos! how u match the people to their surroundings, & in this case the surrounding wording…wow!
November 12, 2008 at 11:13 pm
gorgeous, i love the whole thing and how absolutely terrifying she looks even with just that look on her face. clothes tell the story.
November 12, 2008 at 11:23 pm
Don’t like. I don’t get it. Too pale, maybe? She looks like she needs sunnies, you know, like the sun is too bright for her.
I can clearly see I’m in a minority though.
November 12, 2008 at 11:30 pm
The hair is great, I think she is one of the few people who can pull it off. The same can be said about the clothes too. But isn’t she freezing? its def winter in nyc!!!
November 12, 2008 at 11:31 pm
love the jumper, hate the tube top
November 12, 2008 at 11:38 pm
After Rio….well even NYC has a long way to go. This is atrocious.
November 13, 2008 at 12:01 am
Wow! Saucy! Am loving the upper Alaia-like look, but am caught up with the shoe-boots.
November 13, 2008 at 1:12 am
great shape. great silhouette. darling but, you know, fierce.
November 13, 2008 at 1:30 am
this picture is more than fashion only …Every detail is right, right colours – the “anger” sign – I also like how her shadow “lies” on the floor….It’s like she just killed it…
November 13, 2008 at 1:44 am
i liked it…until i saw her FEET!!horrible combination
November 13, 2008 at 2:30 am
love this, only in NYC
November 13, 2008 at 2:38 am
Such a clever clever shot. I love that there are exactly 3 colors in the photo; I love that her arm makes danger into anger (and she really does look angry), I love that it is all so rectilinear, and I LOVE that she is so red directly above green and yellow from the beach! You’ve made a traffic signal. I have so enjoyed your Rio photos; we have snow in the forecast in my part of the world; I haven’t seen my own knees outside of the shower for at least 2 weeks!
Your photos always inspire – even when the clothes don’t quite…

thank god you are back in nyc. not that the moscow photos weren’t spectacular! but rio left me wanting.
November 13, 2008 at 3:38 am
eclectic. dig the shape, though i thought you weren’t into boots on a bare-legged gal?
and when the hell did you shot this?it’s been crazy cold lately!
November 13, 2008 at 3:46 am
Isn’t it cold in NY this time of year. It’s a bit parky in London.
November 13, 2008 at 4:23 am
Wow – and ditto most of the above comments, especially the Leni deutscheland vibe.
Something about the sunlight and the street in that photo makes me feel I’ve been there before…

November 13, 2008 at 5:48 am
Composition is King. And the subject is something completely else than the usual!
November 13, 2008 at 6:13 am
A very effective and striking composition. Her look has '80s and '90s elements. Love the boots! In fact, they look identical to my Fiorenti & Baker boots.
November 13, 2008 at 7:24 am
isn’t it cold in new york yet?
November 13, 2008 at 7:35 am
Didn’t realise fashion photography could be humorous too =}
November 13, 2008 at 7:56 am
great photo! hate the fashion look. too severe for me.
November 13, 2008 at 8:19 am
I like her from the waist down. The top just looks too trashy for my taste. The boots are awesome!
November 13, 2008 at 8:27 am
Why ‘anger’? What, because she’s wearing some heavy boots with black and red? I love what the girl is wearing but the whole composition including the title smacks of a huge lack of subtlety on behalf of the sartorialist. It’s a bit too pretentious for my liking.
November 13, 2008 at 8:35 am
What caterina said. I love the placement of her body, the turning of her head, the upward motion of her hair, her tiny stunted shadow! Excellent.

November 13, 2008 at 9:24 am
I love this shot’s composition. Love the black and red, her hair is great, the boot is great, her pose is great. Good one Sart!
November 13, 2008 at 9:49 am
Effective composition, very striking. Love the boots! In fact, they look just like my Fiorentini & Baker boots.

November 13, 2008 at 10:26 am
It’s a really rough and cool outfit, but not everyone could have wear that.
November 13, 2008 at 10:54 am
Look ma, no baby fat!
November 13, 2008 at 11:09 am
she must be freezing! it’s been cold lately in nyc. that’s all i can focus on.
November 13, 2008 at 11:35 am
Have to agree with those of us, while appreciating the photo, find the outfit just too super-hero/action figure… too much of a costume. The clothes only inspire me to wear something else….
~ Miss Mary
November 13, 2008 at 11:52 am
Beautiful composition and hair. However, I have to agree with Bren on the shoes. A fierce looking tough-girl heel bootie would up the body-con factor and take out the trying-hard-b/c-I-live-in-NYC juxtaposition of fem-bot/androgyny. It’s just not working, and I’m surprised by all the boot-love commentary. The boots are cool, but NOT with the outfit.
Modern Day Marilyn
November 13, 2008 at 1:48 pm
Beautiful, beautiful shot.
November 13, 2008 at 3:50 pm
she looks strong and yet sexy love the whole look
November 13, 2008 at 4:51 pm
look, she is pretty and all, but she is trying to be Shirley Manson. And the only person who can be Shirley Manson, is Shirley Manson. But nice try sweetie. ten points for effort.
November 13, 2008 at 4:56 pm
The outfit is cute but the boots make it look like an outfit someone would wear to an underground/grungy club…
…replacing the boots with some day shoes would make the outfit more relevant and appealing
November 13, 2008 at 6:54 pm
Hey, does anyone know anything about her boots? i really like them….
November 13, 2008 at 7:11 pm
I love the fact that she’s able to take cotton basics and pull it off! Good eye. When American Apparel works it works amazingly well.
November 14, 2008 at 1:12 am
this is hot, but im afraid ‘ too tight ‘ is not very attractive right now.
November 14, 2008 at 10:28 am
I like the connection of red and the the word “anger” (she’s hiding the “d” in danger).
November 14, 2008 at 7:08 pm
The color blocking, the text and the hair. This is a great art shot! One of my favorites on this site.
November 14, 2008 at 8:03 pm
wow….i love this. very nice photography coupled with striking clothing goes to produce a near work of art.!!!!
November 15, 2008 at 12:36 am
Wow. She’s like a painting come to life. Molly Ringwald starring in George Orwell’s 1984. Stunning.
November 15, 2008 at 1:32 pm
This is Kelsea. She’s a model with Elite NY.
November 18, 2008 at 7:11 am
This is exactly as how I want to look on those days where I wake up and simply want the world to go away. . . and yet still look insanely chic of course.
November 19, 2008 at 7:56 pm
i don’t think all the american apparel haters realize how few stores there are in NYC as opposed to the LA/OC area.
November 26, 2008 at 10:25 am
what’s up with all the american apparel haters? so what if its all from the store-if you knew where she got it all from, then how come YOU didn’t think of the outfit first?

December 25, 2008 at 1:51 pm
the tube top and jumper are hitting her in the wrong places. sounds good in theory and nice photo but the outfit is abrasive and simplistic.
