I love how this look is a combination of a chic business woman and an old-world senior citizen. The mix is flawless, with a sort of play on short pants and hour slippers, but a fabulous heathered pant and patterned shoes. i LOVE her cuff, talk about an accessory making an outfit…and i love her hair, it somehow fits the outfit perfectly.
She has a lovely smile, and I admire her courage to venture out sans a trace of makeup. Alas, the hair is Working Girl circa 1988. Nice cuff on her left arm but for the life of me I can’t determine the whereabouts of her lower right arm. She’s obviously holding a package in her right hand, but what happened between that hand and her elbow?
I LOVE these photographs. There are too many reasons why it’s so good – the hair contrasting the jacket, the form of the jacket.. Then the shoes that just pop… I don’t know how the Euros do it so much better than, well me at least.
i love the shot of just her face it looks so beautiful, you can really tell that this lady is the type of person who is always smiling. i also love her outfit as a whole… i want her bracelet badly!
beautiful shot! i love the “one flew over the cookoo” hair mixed with the short slacks, that beautiful red cuff, and of course the shoes!! crazy grandma meets business chic.
Perfect blend of elegance and casualness! The blues and grays in this photo are beautifully austere. The splash of warm yellow added by her hair makes it sublime.
Ah! Another woman with that lovely Gibson Girl bouffant! I must learn how to do this with my hair. Next time you run into that woman in NY, ask her for a tutorial!
I LOVE her hair. Its so original and creative…no one else could make it look so good. I recognize her from before, but I don’t think we’ve ever seen what’s going on in the back? How does she “tie” it up or pull it back?
Shes stunning, the smile, the hair, the shapes of her coat and the length of her pants are very daring in my opinion. Reminds me of what Rei Kawakubo of Comme De Garcons would wear herself. Just beautiful. My favorite portrait to date.
If the photo was from the knees down and we didnt have her beautiful face to look at, I would swear it was a old lady on the bus. Many of the postings lately have that “too small – wrong size” look. This beauty can carry it off but we average humans would just look wrong.
Surprisingly, no one has said it, but for me the best part is the freckles. I love her hair too, but coming from a person with freckles (not as beautiful as hers) they really make the picture.
That smile pulls together the whole outfit — and her hair and makeup-less face make it seem so so much cooler, make her style seem innate. I always wish I felt comfortable going out into the world without makeup, with just a happy glow instead…
This beautiful young woman represents what my mother was talking about when I’d foolishly paint my adolescent face, homogenize myself into a rainbow of acceptable polo shirts and fry my hair straight (or curly, depending on the mood at school) in an attempt to blend in.
The gals out there with unusual features, who let their own unique spunk blossom on their faces and in their style, those are the ones that inherit the earth!
The interesting thing is that while she is quite attactive and seems stylish, and has a lovely smile, I cannot really place an age on her. In my opinion she could be in her mid-20′s or her late-30′s. It is usally easier to pin down a person’s age via their face.
Nonetheless she seems to have an appealing sense of style, and me being a sucker for freckles I think that I’m smitten.
And I also find the size of the coat to be interesting and a contrast to the usual tailored look that most when go for.
ahha, so monet with the wisp of hair not doing much to cover that first smile. it just brings to mind the painting of his wife and son on a windy hill; her thin veil barely hiding her smile… and those freckles!

Ah,
Sander! I mean, Sart, the thing Sander did with that soldier’s sleeve–to visually allude to amputation…
I am sure you know what Sanser picture I am referring to.
Out of place with such angel of mercy, but still. How powerful an influence Sander must be on you!
