She is gorgeous! You are doing such a great thing, it makes me so happy to hear others loving it too!
I have worked in the rag trade as a designer for years, am now studying fine art at Parsons, and I have always spent so much time thinking about what beauty really IS. The social constructs that exist surrounding beauty make it all so interesting.
Food for thought.
I am not sure I have figured it out yet, but one thing I know for sure…living with a little beauty everyday is what makes living inspired.
The scent of violets, a strain of music that makes your heart weep and your jaw tighten, a touch of silk that is like the flank of a fawn, or the sight of a hopelessly beautiful jawline, shoulder or cheekbone…
something ethereal and elusive about being completely present in what we do… magic.
Ms. Raziwell is way older than my mom but if my mom ever decides to get into a funk about aging, I'm going to show her this picture and say something like "she still takes time to care about how she looks", or she looks great, why don't you show her what REALLY looks great." Arsenal, just in case.
Wow, this shot could've easily been taken fifty years ago, it's very glamourous. When I see all the thongs sticking out of low-cut jeans (still!) I wonder where the heavens is this world going and why don't young women draw inspiration from impeccably dressed people like Lee more.
Wow! Such an amazing woman! I had the chance to see her at the Paris Fashion Week before the Valentino show and she looked stunning. She was very nice with the photographers, she was smiling and she even exchanged a few words with them. Very stylish!
I once walked past her on an empty Park Avenue .. white v-neck tee, jeans, black cashmere sweater around her shoulders … I have never seen anyone look so amazingly chic in something so simple in my whole life. She is phenomenal.
Beautiful photo. The last time I saw pictures of her was in a Vogue profile a few years ago. In it she looked lovely, but suspciously smooth and soft-focus. She's much more impressive in this picture, without styling, posing, and photoshopping.
Supremely elegant, with a little bit of sass in the form of the stylish zebra pattern in the coat.
It's so nice to see that Lee Radziwill seems to understand that that trying to look half one's age is dehumanizing and in the end, not in line with the classical ideal of beauty.
I guess her ancestors were the graet polish family- Radziwiłł, the y were always close to the monarch. One can surely tell there is something royal in Lee Radziwill…
According to photographer Peter Beard, she was the best sex of any he'd ever had in a very, um, active life with some very famous, even iconic beauties (Cheryl Tiegs, Iman, etc…).
Just a few short years ago you started this whole style sensation online. and now, there's lovely Garance, world trAVEL, front row, enormous influence, well deserved recognition. oh the stories you could tell! iT JUST doesn't get any better than Lee Radizwell up close and candid on her Paris home turf. Thanks for showing your pictures of women of ALL ages, from kids through to mature. It gives us a perspective on what our lives (and looks) can become, or already are. There's no need to worry about getting older when I see a picture like this – of a woman who obviously nurtures, enjoys and creates her own style to perfection. That's about following your own instincts, and not someone elses. Bravo. I love it. Thanks again for inspiration. Ciao, L. x x
the Radziwiłł family was the greatest and most important one in Lithuania. it's the whole history… no wonder this lady seems so elegant and "royal". simply beautiful! cheers!
Thank you for this post. Would you include more older women please. I see so many older men all the time. I love your blog and would love to see more of this mature female perspective. There are so many fashionable older women all in and about the fashion capitals, just like there are male. Think that is why you got so many comments on this. Yes, I know she is Jackie's sister but still….
Superb shot, Scot!
But most of all, no botox!!!!! Just the ageing signs gloriously exposed with elegance and unshielded. A good lesson for women who want to hide their age.
