Her lips would nicely match those of the girl on Wigmore St. in London! They should team up! both are remarkable.

A very elegant and sophisticated lady. I wish we'd see more of them these days.
March 22, 2011 at 3:54 pm
This woman is wearing her life on her face, beautifully. I'm not sure about the purple lipstick, but I'm in awe of her, and so glad she has her own beautiful grey hair and skin that has aged with her. I bet people listen when she speaks.
March 22, 2011 at 3:55 pm

March 22, 2011 at 4:03 pm
simple elegance. she is fabulous! hope i look like that when i get older.
March 22, 2011 at 4:06 pm
Really refreshing to see 'older' stylish women featured. I'm not quite there yet, but so nice to see that style needn't diminish with age. Speaking as a former Londoner, one must never underestimate the influence that Mrs Burstein has had on the British fashion landscape.

March 22, 2011 at 4:12 pm
Those lips are a special shade of magenta only she can pull off. Lovely!
March 22, 2011 at 4:14 pm
wow the purplish lipstick is just unreal on her. Older people should follow this amazing woman's example! She is a braveee one!
I sometimes wonder how I shall age… I love seeing people who have lived & are still v much full of life! Her hair, lipstick, style, are spot on: great!
I really like the fact that you have the eye to find such elegant and originals persons. I can no longer stand all the "cliché" we see in some magazines…your blog is a treasure…your pictures are art.
March 22, 2011 at 4:15 pm

So, So lovely.
March 22, 2011 at 4:22 pm
One of the best shots i've seen from you, it goes beyond pretty clothing it speaks on it's own and as some said that's what a well lived life looks like, hope I look half as good someday. Who would want to airbrush after seeing this woman.
March 22, 2011 at 4:26 pm
What a beautiful portrait of Madame de Browns. And what a perfect example that ageing gracefully is the best.
March 22, 2011 at 4:27 pm
lovely and elegant. Finally a woman who isn't afraid of showing her age!
March 22, 2011 at 4:29 pm

March 22, 2011 at 4:40 pm
How refreshing- no face lifts, no botox and natural hair color. She's stunning. Would love to chat with her!
March 22, 2011 at 4:42 pm
The next generation will have a lot less of these genuine, natural faces with all the plastic surgery people are having these days. I'm slowly learning to embrace my crows feet and laugh lines that come as a result of lots of smiles and good times!

Toute en beauté; c'est très inspirant et ça fait beaucoup de bien de voir des femmes assumer pleinement leurs rides et le passage du temps qui donne une telle force et histoire au visage!
March 22, 2011 at 4:47 pm
wow… we live in a society obsessed with youth and seeing this stunning woman is almost a shock. First, I applaud her for not getting sucked into the plastic surgery frenzy and second, kudos to you, Scott for recognizing beauty has no age and publishing this photo. I love her look except for the lip color; not flattering. Thanks!
March 22, 2011 at 4:51 pm

Wonderful face, terrific style with jewellery and pose. We think that beauty is just for the young – she proves it not.
March 22, 2011 at 5:30 pm
Alleluia. THIS is what it's all about….not running after the latest "it" bag or silly shoe-of-the-week!
March 22, 2011 at 5:36 pm
Thank you so much for posting photos of older people who have great style. Too many people seem to forget that if they are lucky, they too will live to be old.
March 22, 2011 at 5:41 pm
Stunning! I find pictures of mature women much more inspirating than younger ones!Great shot (as always :D)! Can't wait to see more!Have a great week!Emily

So elegant, so so very fabulous!!
March 22, 2011 at 5:47 pm
I like the purple lippy. Because one would expect it to be red. I note many don't but I think it is great juxtapsosition. She is indeed very elegant with the French art of ageing gracefully. She looks kind, strong, beautiful and with integrity.

So nice to see a woman that hasn't been botoxed, lifted or lasered! She looks elegant, stylish and REAL!!
March 22, 2011 at 6:03 pm
She's beautiful and her hair is fabulous. I wish grey was more celebrated than covered over, it's so elegant. A lovely photograph, thank you for showing how age has it's own beauty.
March 22, 2011 at 6:07 pm
Thanks you for showing the real beauty of life. Fashion is most of the times a boring repetition.
And I am saying this as a senior fashion designer!!
We need your blog. It is vital!! Thanks again and of course, this lady is totally want I want in my future.
March 22, 2011 at 6:18 pm
Thank you for including what is essentially a headshot and not a fashion shot (although her jewelry is lovely).
March 22, 2011 at 6:22 pm
No idea who she is or what her story is, but from her hair & makeup, to clothes & accessories, she's fabulous.

wonderful LADY!!! great portrait!
March 22, 2011 at 7:39 pm
I adore everything about this woman: the beauty of aging gracefully, the tousled hair, her jewelry. Even the color of her lipstick — accentuates the sweet smile. No hideous facelift for her. She's lovely.
March 22, 2011 at 7:53 pm
This picture hit me like a ton of bricks. We rarely see wrinkles in our day and age of chasing perfection-or at least society's view of perfection: the flawless, wrinkle-free woman. It has always amazed me how men could age gracefully, with their salt and pepper hair, each strand representing a trial or tribulation in their lives, but the aging woman is seen as losing her luster. The woman in this picture proves that youthfulness lies in a person's outlook, in their spirit, not in their exterior appearance. That sparkle in her eyes and her cheeky lipstick can outshine a woman with a perfect facelift any day of the week.As a young twenty year old, I would like to thank you Scott for taking this picture and showing everyone that wrinkles are beautiful :)
March 22, 2011 at 7:54 pm
Yes!!! This woman is a classic beauty! Her ring is just sublime! Also, she should be an example to women all over who are thinking about botox/plastic surgery and plastic style! Bravo.
March 22, 2011 at 8:01 pm
I hope to have all her wrinkles, grays, smile and style when im her age!
March 22, 2011 at 8:13 pm
This woman is amazing. Her jewelry is a thing of beauty, her eyes are amazing and her hair cut is spot on. I love her!!!
March 22, 2011 at 8:30 pm
I hope I look this good when I'm her age. She has a wonderful aura about her.

March 22, 2011 at 9:38 pm
Classic style. A woman that knows how to put it together. Bringing the sparkle only to what she wants-her lips and her jewels. Thanks for being one of the few fashion sites to showcase beauty at all ages.

thankyouthankyouthankyou–spectacular! I remember seeing her in the shop when it was really tiny–decades ago–she looks even better now! And, I am not her age yet but have been fearful of bright lipstick–she has inspired me.
March 22, 2011 at 9:46 pm
As was once said…'a girl must always be two things: classy & fabulous.' All that and more. xo
March 22, 2011 at 9:52 pm
I love how you captured the kindness and wisdom of age that seems to come from her eyes/gaze!
March 22, 2011 at 9:58 pm

March 23, 2011 at 12:33 am

I am so excited that you are profiling a very beautiful, but older woman.
I am not an older woman, but I love the idea of alternative beauty.
Skinny tall and gorgeous is just too simple.
I would love to see more shots of alternative beauty.
With your influence who knows how you can shape our idea of what is to be appreciated!
What a cool thought. I would even love LOVE to see a book about alternative beauty, or a blog….you must have some really amazing shots.
I love the contradiction.
Thanks for sharing, I read you everyday, I live in Paris and somedays I muse wether you might find me during the day… :-)
Thank you for

When we see a woman showing her age with the grey hair, wrinkles- without the ridiculous face job, we see beauty as nature has intended. What a beautiful face she has. She radiates kindness, softness, and she is ever so stylish!!!! Love this photo! Thank you! I believe when we get older, our soul comes to the surface. I feel her soul looking at this picture….

oh so beautiful!
March 23, 2011 at 5:30 pm
what an elegance!
March 23, 2011 at 5:35 pm
This is why I will never, not in 100 million years succumb to plastic surgery…is losing all sense of expression, all the years of your life that become written on your face…is it worth looking only nominally younger and with a paralyzed face? Methinks not. She's beautiful…and you can tell she has spent most of her life smiling…just how I'd like to look at this age…
March 23, 2011 at 6:09 pm
She is lovely. But its the jewelry that seals the deal. If you subtract that…you have lovely with bad lipcolor. Mental note- invest in good interesting jewelry. And wear it!
March 23, 2011 at 6:35 pm
So graceful! Love this woman
March 23, 2011 at 6:42 pm
You have perfectly captured the glorious beauty and style that comes with age. It is a nice balance to the trendy young people you more often feature. Out with the young and in with the "persons of a certain age".
March 23, 2011 at 7:08 pm
I can only hope to look this good when I am her age.

This is just way too fierce, beyond my comprehension. This woman is werking! I hope to be fierce when I get older.

I see all the wonderful comments regarding ageing gracefully, as nature intended. It takes guts and courage to walk away from chemicals and surgical instruments. Bravo to you for finding the beauty in experience and to wearing an interesting life on the face. I hope these images give everyone the strength to let life happen and live with gusto!

Bella Bella Bella — This is the only photo that has stopped me cold in my tracks — enough so to leave a comment! This is what a Queen looks like! A real Queen that has lived life that regrets nothing, that doesn't give a damn! What light! Thank you so much for this inspiration of beauty!

Thank you! This lovely shot gives me courage as a woman entering a time where life is really beginning to show (notice I do not say 'age') on my face and body. I wore this shade of lip colour in my twenties…and loved it! I gave it up years ago, thinking about 'age' and appropriateness. bah! Your lovely photography has made me revaluate my discriminatory practices. On colour, on wrinkles and the wear and wearing of a life. Really!

This is the first time I've left a comment. I love this picture! When I saw it, my immediate reaction was, "Someday!" I've brought up her picture every day since you first posted it, as inspiration for me.

I love that this gracious-looking older woman is wearing lipstick that's bolder, brighter and more original than anything I've seen on all the arty hipsters in town (Minneapolis). WANT. But it's probably not for red heads :(.
Actually, now that I' looking closer (couldn't stop looking at the lipstick) she makes a lot of very bold choices without going over the top – love the earings and rings too.
