This picture is great! The serious look, his pose and the outfit. It just all comes together perfectly! I love the blue color and the way it stands out.
The gloves, tone on tone with the scarf, and the beret make the difference! Elegant and mysterious… and subtly blue. But wasn't the origin of a marvellous blue porcelain in Florence? :-) Liz Shella
Very chic…very handsome…very stylish! I love all the different hues of blue. I've always been keen on pairing blue with black, at least the blue hues that he used here go so well with black. His well trimmed facial hair, as well as the hair on his pate, goes very well with his look. Gorgeous!
"impeccable" – this is what we call it in france. but … when too perfect lieber gott böse. I am missing something to "fall in love for a little moment". do you know what I mean ?
I sometimes see gents like this when I'm traveling in Europe. It's like they want to belong to another age. They look out of place and slightly insane. They don't notice that people are rolling their eyes, or they don't care.
Oh, nice! I wish I had the courage to dress so dramatically. I wonder if he's always so wonderfully put together? It might be a hobby of his–or maybe just the day of this photograph, a friend of his dressed him. Whatever the case, he's *rockin'* this look.
At first I wasn’t sure that was a cape. I thought maybe it was a topcoat, somewhat oversized, with the sleeves turned inside the body—which struck me as a clever idea. On further examination, though, I can see a buttoned flap on the man’s left side, which probably covers a slit in the cloak, so he can keep his hands inside when the cloak’s buttoned up, and still reach outside as needed.
Terrific look—and does anyone else find it vaguely Renaissance, with the beret and all? Guess I should say, rinascimento. Very elegant, and still practical.
The prussian blue gloves "to match" the scarf take the look somewhere beyond well dressed and out into easily trying to hard. In a world where few make the effort anymore, he should not be criticized. It is such an art to get it right.
I think he looks wonderful. I don't know about people who look 'insane' because they dress a little different, but very very chic. Uh, check your mirror, dude.
I swear I see a man in blue gloves for the first time. And he looks gorgeous!!! Most men are so conservative and he is very original… I wonder what is he wearing tomorrow?? I'd like to see :-)
those different shades of blue are so flattering. They match his skin tone perfectly. As someone said above, its really a renaissance-like look! I like a lot!
Don't think I've seen a man in a cape since Napoleon! He looks quite composed here with it worn open, but I imagine he might look a bit silly walking around with it buttoned up. Not sure I'm ready for my next date to show up in a cape.
Snooty, but definitely SHARP! Great colours, even cape and cap look deep blues not blacks to me. Interesting twist of Asian features with historic English/European style. Love the blue long Pashmina scarf – iffy on a guy but he cuts it. The cap gives a nice pop to it all. Classy stimulating shot Scott – good post!
rebecca p: I don't see how someone's expression caught in an instant on camera tells a viewer they lack self-esteem! What a presumption about someone's state of mind. Either admire what he's wearing or don't: it's about fashion, not the person's psyche or personality, which we certainly can't discern from a photo.
I love the blue leather gloves, they must age so nicely, like a good pair of brown ones. His pose and the clothes remind me of old portraits of kings. And do I see strange stiching patterns on his trousers?
This photo makes me so happy! The way he's wearing several slightly different shades of blue against that gorgeous rust background, the cape and beret combo which is made perfect by the clasped hands, the tilt of his head and that almost smug look. So dramatic. One of my favorites ever from you.
I think that I am the only person who does not like the blue gloves. However, the muffler, jeans and the mock-t all work.. Is it a cape or a coat? Whatever it is, I want one. The ivy cap pulled to the side is not unusual. I could see walking around most places in the USA dressed similarly to this, but with black gloves.
Sart, I've never felt the need or urge to comment, but this picture is nothing short of brilliant. Breathtaking. And not just gorgeous; I see several real interesting stories in it, too. Not sure yet if he's the good guy or the bad guy. ;)
Magnificent…I love the days of yore when people use to dress up and seem like they put some effort into it.
The nouveau looks are great, but a classic just stands out like a neon road sign! Nice for the "dressers" among us to receive some recognition…they certainly deserve it for their efforts and our aesthetic treat.
Is it the cape? The hat? The combination of blues against the rugged brown background? I think it is all those and his face – powerful and determined. As if the cape had another purpose other than warmth….
jajaja there's something NEFARIOUS about that show of gloved hands. like he's committed murder but the print of the unique gloves is what gets him caught. too foppish for me ,)

The deep shades of blue with the light brown wood door in the background is a beautiful palette.

Navy should be the new black… Everything everyone makes in black should be made in navy just for 1 year when I'm rich so I can stock up.
I'm always struggling to find nice navy shoes.
He's got great colour sense, but why so serious?

Sart, I've never felt the need or urge to comment, but this picture is nothing short of brilliant. Breathtaking. And not just gorgeous; I see several real interesting stories in it, too. Not sure yet if he's the good guy or the bad guy. ;)

Magnificent…I love the days of yore when people use to dress up and seem like they put some effort into it.
The nouveau looks are great, but a classic just stands out like a neon road sign! Nice for the "dressers" among us to receive some recognition…they certainly deserve it for their efforts and our aesthetic treat.
Best,

Is it the cape? The hat? The combination of blues against the rugged brown background? I think it is all those and his face – powerful and determined. As if the cape had another purpose other than warmth….
