I really love her hair, it frames her face so well. This outfit is great for hot and humid NYC. I especially like how her belt buckle is pulled to the side. Very cute.
Yes! Summer perfect, adorable. All the young girls have been looking like they've been trying too hard lately with the whole boho eighties whatnot. I get shaggy. I love shaggy. But this young woman actually has clean hair! And BTW Falke makes really excellent low peds that you can't see at all when wearing converse.
What lens did you use for this shot, the shots of the Jazz party and your recent Italian shots? I assume you are using the 5DMkII, but I'm curious about the lens.
Gear aside, it's a real pleasure to look at your work. Truly a gifted photographer.
Goes to show you that a pretty girl can wear just about anything and look cute.
Stylistically, this ensemble really doesn't "do" anything for me. The ripped jeans – seen it – the wife beater style tank – seen it – the big leather belt – seen it and those awful, ever-present Converse type sneakers – seeeen it.
I have a very similar pair of jeans. H&M Boyfriend's, last season. Seriously the most comfortable jeans I own; plus, they don't make me feel like I'm close to break into spontaneous combustion. I do not have, however, that lady's effortless sense of style. Wonderful, especially the necklace. A very delicate touch in her tomboyish look.
Good to see an American woman that dares to cut her hair short. Also, glasses are nice. Otherwise, shapeless clothes on a potentially good looking woman,
Like the hang-loose feel. And summer is the time for super-faded denim.
Question re below-ankle socks: Someone whose sartorial opinion I eminently trust says that anklets are always a no-no. Guys, girls, no matter. More and more I am seeing his point. Imagine her with thin, slouchy socks, in a neutral (heather grey, perhaps).
I don't know. Anklets don't offend me as much as they do him. But I do think that guys look better in crew athletic socks than the anklets that some wear nowadays.
Classic is always best. I mean, would your dad wear anklets?
I love the jeans. I had a pair like that in the 80's. I loved that time, and the photo takes me back. And I like her, she is very easy breezy, kind of like youth should be.
That is actually West 25th Street (btw 7th & 8th). I know because I can see my apartment building! This is probably as close as I will ever get to being on The Sartorialist!!!!! Nice shot (as usual) too….
love this blog- always inspires me! have started a blog wearing second hand clothing for the next 100 days.. would love to see what you think http://recycledrose.wordpress.com/
Oh, she's gorgeous–so cute pretty and still a bit of mischief in those eyes. Love that grunge look–it may well have been done many times before but there's a reason for that–it looks cool, relaxed, carefree. It also breaks some of those boring neat and tidy traditional boundaries with it– many of us need to do that sometimes. She does do this look exceptionally well though I think.
Many would consider this fashion entropy…Yet, I believe, the comfort that emanates from this outfit represents control and a strong sense of self. Love.
Behold! An urchin! (And a really comfortable-looking urchin, at that…) :) Love that she can do cute without being twee and charming without being precious.
it's impossible to express how much i love this. reminds me of a grown up tomboy…hopefully the boys she used to play baseball with will come and check her out
She is gorgeous! I love her hair, her tank, her belt, her jeans. And thinking that this could look so bad in someone else. This is the proof that style depends on the wearer…!
