September 15, 2010 at 9:19 am
Wow- so chic in menswear, I wouldn't have guessed!
Love both of these. Great to see Garance in action, too :)
I've shopped in my dad's closet for sweaters and ties. Sometimes men's clothing has that twist, feature or colour way that one just won't find in women's wear.

Totally LOVE the first pic…:)

September 15, 2010 at 10:16 am
dope!! i love when girls dip into menswear.
September 15, 2010 at 10:18 am
Who is this Marykate lady? A fashion editor, or just a stylish woman? I've now seen two pictures of her on street style blogs in the last week and both times she was wearing those sandals and a mid-calf skirt, and looked beautiful! I would like to know more about her.
September 15, 2010 at 10:19 am
i love garance's blazerrr!! i want the same!
September 15, 2010 at 10:25 am
Oh to be French! I'm sure Garance would look great in a gunny sack! love the blazer especially. Currently on the humt for same.

First lady is stylish and ready for autumn/winter season. ;)
September 15, 2010 at 10:30 am
haha.. funny caption on garance. love her style so much.
September 15, 2010 at 10:33 am
I'm more keen to see Scott's legs. In the shorts, that is, not Marykate's skirt and most certainly not Garance's shoes. lol!
September 15, 2010 at 10:34 am
I love Garance … she's always feminine, even in your shorts Sart ! Love her look and the 1st pic too, reminds a bit of Mad Men style …
September 15, 2010 at 10:40 am
See, my hubby gets so mad when I shop in his closet. I told him, it's totally the norm. Lol!

I love the cropped, fitted look of this sweater….I wish more women with wear this..it has a 1940s feel to it.
September 15, 2010 at 11:52 am
Garance has a really nice outfit !!!http://www.larecessionista.fr
September 15, 2010 at 11:56 am
That skirt is awesome.
And all I can say is that Garance is very lucky to have a man's closet that is worth stealing from. All I've ever had the choice of was mouldy jeans and t-shirts covered in bits of plaster and paint (don't date a builder if you want to nick clothes…)
September 15, 2010 at 11:58 am
The bag in the first photo is by THUY
September 15, 2010 at 11:59 am
Totally LOVE the last one pic…you are great
September 15, 2010 at 12:11 pm

September 15, 2010 at 12:13 pm
Great creations. I love watch the people on the street and their clothes.Your blog is awsome. At the moment i folow it.

she looks GREAT, (as always!)
September 15, 2010 at 12:30 pm
Love the sweater with the flowy skirt! Also…love Garance's shoes…(and your shorts too, teehee)
September 15, 2010 at 12:35 pm
they both look great but i LOVE marykate's look. soooo chic!
September 15, 2010 at 12:38 pm
I love both looks! Both looks are somewhat classic yet with a modern spin – by adding a bit of menswear (or in the case of the sweater, "boys wear," I suppose), these sophisticates strike the perfect style balance.
September 15, 2010 at 12:41 pm
September 15, 2010 at 12:46 pm
Garance always rocks – no matter what she's wearing! <3
Love shopping in the boys department (if only men's shoes came in a smaller size range too…)
September 15, 2010 at 1:01 pm
I love Garance's heels, what brand are they?
September 15, 2010 at 1:02 pm
Scott, I'll bet you could rock those heels way harder than Garance. I have faith. ;-)
September 15, 2010 at 1:04 pm
I love Garance's outfit here. It's so utilitarian/masculine but the heels make it very femme fatale. She's like a Bond Girl. Watch out for that camera …
September 15, 2010 at 1:09 pm
Haha, cute. It's unfair it doesn't work the other way around isn't it?
September 15, 2010 at 1:17 pm

Ooo, I like the tiny sweater. I might have to check out the kid's section the next time I go to the thrift store.
September 15, 2010 at 1:39 pm
i'm guessing it didn't rain that day?
September 15, 2010 at 1:54 pm
Garance is amazing :D
September 15, 2010 at 2:02 pm
I am taking that Crewcut idea and running with it! Boys sweater department, here I come!
September 15, 2010 at 2:05 pm
It's kinda funny cause I'm short and small, so I always buy my blazers and jackets at boys department cause they fit wayyyy better than the womens smallest size! And this weekend I went into my boyfriend's closet and said "I need shorts!!!" So I took a great pair of khakis that I definetly dont intend on giving back!
September 15, 2010 at 2:08 pm

I totally love the idea of shopping at kid's department for a fab. find…but sometimes, children's clothes don't take "bust line" into account and that could be a disaster. :P
On Marykate, it is cute and it fits perfectly. ^^
Love the sweater in the first pic…so cute!
September 15, 2010 at 2:24 pm
I love a fisherman sweater, esp. shrunken like that! but something seems just a little off in photo 1(proportions? teeny bit cluttered? too much girl & not quite enuf boy to balance? not sure). photo 2 is awesome!
September 15, 2010 at 2:27 pm
i <3 Garance. Her blog is so gorgeous. the sweater on Marykate is seriously adorable.
September 15, 2010 at 2:30 pm
I love the fit of Marykate's sweater, maybe I should try buying kids sizes since I seem to drown in some sweaters and cardigans. Garance is fantastic in heels, I love how she wears them.
wow! they re amazing. love their styles (and shoes of course :)
September 15, 2010 at 2:39 pm
Love it ! i love this picture! a fashion photographer (L) cutee
September 15, 2010 at 2:50 pm
circling back to say — swapping out the shoes in photo 1 for some of those high-heeled penny loafers that are out now would make this outfit for me. maybe patent ones, or in an unexpected color. another little nod to schoolboy/schoolgirl but still a sexy look overall.

Oh that Garance is one smart cookie! Not only did she land an adorable boyfriend, but she's doubled her closet as well!
September 15, 2010 at 4:45 pm
I'm definitely guilty of stealing my boyfriend's cardigans/sweaters/shirts. Fortunately it doesn't work the other way around :)
September 15, 2010 at 5:22 pm
LOVE both outfits!! Especially their shoes! They both pull off the menswear look very well.

I dig the booties with the shorts!
September 15, 2010 at 7:04 pm
So cute the first one. Love it!
September 15, 2010 at 7:15 pm
Garrance looks fantastic. Fantastic proportions between the jacket and shorts. The loose tailoring, in beautiful autumnal shades are given a fabulously glamorous edge, with those shoes.
Mary Kate is aquiline. I bet she could literally put ducks in a row…I think she would love through thick and thin.
September 15, 2010 at 7:25 pm
wow! a super cute, feminine and stylish sweater paired with a long skirt for the 50's look… that comes from a boys department?! she's a star. i'm really fascinated by this.the fact that oversized mens clothes suit particular women is no news. Having said that, it's nice to see Garance pulls the shorts off very well with the tweed-y jacket.
September 15, 2010 at 9:42 pm
Absolutely *love* Marykate's shoes — does anyone know who makes them? (And of course, Garance looks amazing… (-: )
September 15, 2010 at 10:41 pm

Garance you're so chic.
September 15, 2010 at 11:11 pm
So great! I actually went to the Crew Cuts section the other day, and thought, why not. Garance looks amazing and your shorts look great. Now that she is a New Yorker, how appropriate that she remembers to always have an umbrella along.

I sat next to Marykate at the Milly show today and she looked adorable – same look but different pieces – a cabled sweater and different long skirt – noticed her immediately – great look

Such a good idea for the sweater :)
September 16, 2010 at 3:12 am
haha. i like Garance looks!
September 16, 2010 at 4:35 am
Thank God for men's wear!
There's a lot of cheap vulgarity where I'm living, regarding women's fashion style and their so called attitude towards fashion…
Garance is adorable here!:)

September 16, 2010 at 2:23 pm
Ak! Garance could not be dreamier – that delicate combination of totally put together (perfect nails, perfect jacket fresh from the cleaners) and playful, relaxed (the loose hair, the shorts, oh the shorts) and edgy, sexy, slightly intimidating (the whole thing would be so so different with keds . . .) – I have such a crush.
September 16, 2010 at 3:36 pm
this is stylist! can't wait to see more fashion photos!
September 16, 2010 at 4:05 pm
It's the skirt paired with the sweater that gets me…I'm never a copy cat, but I might just break the rules on this one.
September 16, 2010 at 4:36 pm
Garance looks fab. She just seems to have great style! What height is she?
September 16, 2010 at 8:13 pm
I love Garance's outfit. By all means, steal your man's clothing? You bet! She is always so well put together. The open toed booties with red toenails are the perfect polish to a great "boyfriend" outfit. Perfection!

It's funny, I used to have this same style a couple of years ago, I mean Garance's look!!!! Not much into it anymore but love LOV the heels!!!! I reallly think they stand out of the entire outfit in a way that makes you think of thier superiority and maybe wear them with something else !!!Rocking heels with a light, simple silk dress!!!!

September 17, 2010 at 8:59 am

This is a big look with J. Crew and Crew Cuts. They call it "Borrowed from my brother's closet." She's got it exactly right. And she has beautiful knees. Thank God.

LOVE her white sweater <3
September 19, 2010 at 12:55 pm
The first look is very Louis Vuitton Fall 10 inspired. Inspires me to do something similar… it's hard to find skirts that cut though.
September 20, 2010 at 8:37 am
@Garance outfit. Looks great. I'd pick's in my fathers closet when I was a teenager (shorts, suits etc)(20 years ago). I remaked the pants from the suits to skirts – and it was very chic…The shorts I picked out and used was from the 60' – and I loved to wear them. I'm on the memorie lane now..
September 20, 2010 at 5:04 pm
Does anyone know if MK's bag (in front) is the Lanvin Happy Bag?Thanks so much and love the pics!:) Patty
