Reminds me of my best friend, gay neighbor in his adolescence, discovering he’s gay and wanting to wear womens’ clothes but hasn’t quite figured out how to do it yet. The vest/dress and the red shirt are the feminine cloaked beneath the black vying for equal exposure.

He has that “i don’t care if you like my outfit” attitude.

  33. Anonymous

    March 25, 2009 at 3:43 pm

His oversized sweater and his big, dark coat do more to make his head look smaller. Does not help that he has long arms for being so pencily, either. I’d be pissed, too. But I do appreciate the photo’s perspective…as always expertly shot by our wonderful Sart. He can make questionable dressing look interesting, every time. Thanks.

My argument would not be on the knit but on the scarf. I rather like it with the red shirt underneath… and I don’t think anyone else but this man could pull off that outfit successfully.

  39. Questioner

    March 25, 2009 at 5:30 pm

I get that he’s an art student and employing creativity and experimentation to try to express himself as an individual (while of course keeping to the current uniform of skinny jeans and combat boots). And I applaud him for his attempt. But that sweater has absolutely no redeeming qualities. Is it supposed to be ironic?

And he looks like Ugly Betty’s nephew with a Hapsburg chin. Is he a Hapsburg?

Ok, this dude is not French nor is he English. And neither an art-student. He’s studying fashion in South-England and is orginally from Norway. That put a side – I like the outfit, minus the scarf.

Like no one ever experimented when they were young??

Maybe he bought the sweater vintage for 3 euros?? And made it his personal statement!!

However, dear friends, if I ever show up with such a sweater, please, remove me from the premises immediately!!

The scaff is absolutly atroscious. Potentially it could look funky with the sweater and shirt contrasting the rest of the outfit, but the scaff just makes it seemed contrived.
Even without it, the outfit is still arguablly bad and poorly texturised (although I would have to actually see it without the scaff).

My original reaction was that this outfit is like a train wreck -horrid but you just can’t look away, but the more I look at it the more I like it. Without the sweater, it would just be another all black/scarf/skinny jeans and a pop of color outfit, but the sweater is just so completely unexpected, so completely granny/little kid-like, so completely uncool, that it’s the perfect foil for the hipster look we think he’d be aiming for. Maybe it’s supposed to be ironic – anyway it’s fascinating.

The red/lime stripe with the red shirt is brilliant! What a shame he kept knitting a little too long and got out the cream wool.

Just the striped sweater without the extra textured cream band would have been wonderful. I would love to unpick the bottom quarter of this sweater and re-knit it the same as the rest. Then you would all love it!
