the third pic is sooooo hot, love the entire look (esp the shoes).. tres jolie. First pic, i just cant imagine how uncomfortable those shoes must be because they are not the right size…but a true diva will MAKE IT WORK and it seems like she is.
I love this blog… You know the teenage boy in American Beauty that films everything to document the beauty in life? That’s what this blog reminds me of.
there is something so lovely about the rain and how people navigate through it. it always seems cinematic to me. at least, these images make portray the situation as very cinematic. so pretty!
These people in black outfits make very interesting photos–at first glance they look almost like silhouettes of negative space cut out of the photo rather than real people in the photo. Very cool effect.
Fashion-wise, though I am tired of the all-black look. I did it for several years and enough is enough!
If looked at closely, the woman in the 2nd pic, has the most wonderful Martin Margiela shoes EVER ! I’ve seen them here in Antwerp also in red and they are to die for ! Now I want them even more !!
beautiful pix. i try to have such grace when walking in the rain, sans umbrella. hope the rain doesn’t ruin the shoes. they are so pretty, especially the 1st pair.
Great sihouettes and i always love your walking/non-posed shots. I like the idea of a whole series of weather-influenced photgraph; the way people adapt their clothing for shelter or shade. i LOVE the top pic with those killer shoes – she means business, rain or no rain you can just tell!
#1 just soared to the top of “my favorite sart pictures” list. it’s a hollywood moment, brought back down to earth by the fact that the shoes (and OH, the shoes!) are a size too big. magnifique!
Allow me to be the only nay sayer – In the first picture the shoes look to be about a size to big for the wearer. if they didn’t have straps she would probably walk out of them.
Oh, the Plume in the second photo – why not protect it!? It looks like Box Calf. Why?! This causes me so much pain!! Gorgeous none the less, however! Oh, the first silhouette. Swoon! My heart is stolen!
It’s mostly all black which requires mostly all my effort to examine. In this case I find the last picture quite feminine and sexy and therefore the best of the 3.
You can never go wrong in all black! It instantly makes someone appear sophisticated and elegant. I really like the little touches of gold in all 3 pictures too. I never thought anyone could pull off the over-the-knee high boots, but this picture proves me wrong! She pulls it off quite well and it’s an understated sexiness, which I love.
The first photo shoes ..don’t work for me.. Loving the boots!!I have finally seen a pair of knee length boots with a nice tall heel and not even remotely stripper-ish!!
Why the stigma with umbrellas? I understand that they’re not the most fashionable accessory, but if you’re traveling more than a few blocks, is your (not even waterproof) coat really going to keep you dry? I commute by bike, and if I don’t wear a raincoat on rainy days, I’m soaked by the time I reach work or class.
I’d rather look not-so-cute on my commute than have my fashionable ensemble be soggy for the part of the day when I’m indoors.
What’s the consensus on fashion vs. function here? It’s clearly not raining too hard in the photo, but if it were…
Re: the first photo. Her shoes may not be too big; rather, her foot may be too narrow–a problem that arises because women with super narrow feet are almost universally shunned by shoe makers. Note that her toes are overhanging her shoe on the lead foot as she presses forward. That her foot is probably wet and sliding around in all that extra width forces her foot forward–which wouldn’t happen if the shoes were narrow enough. Someone mentioned the straps on her shoes holding her in. Of course they do. Take it from someone with a 5A heel, without straps we narrow-feet type would leave a trail of shoes wherever we went. I hate shoes. The only good thing about winter is boots. Pull on a pair of sweatsocks before donning and those puppies don’t move.
they all have such great style and bring a certain freshness to the colour black…
as much as i love those miu miu pumps – and i do treasure mine… it sort of annoys me that they look too big! what a shame – but maybe she’s just walking fast and her feet are slipping.
Thank you for bringing back the candid shots. I’ve missed them. Your framing of detail is wonderful. I don’t know how you do it, but your’re a natural!
I love the passion for fashion that the first shot reveals – that her love of those shoes is so great, wearing the wrong size is better than not having them at all! Gorgeous!
I have secretly loved thigh high boots ever since I first watched Pretty Woman, and I’m so happy they’re making a mainstream, non-just-for-hookers comeback! What an interesting series of photos.
Love the shots!! There’s something similar in this post, each picture has something metallic or gold in it that stands out midst the rainy weather. In pic 1 the shoes, pic 2 the bracelets, pic 3 the bag, ring and buttons.
