April 16, 2009 at 9:29 pm
I love this blog… You know the teenage boy in American Beauty that films everything to document the beauty in life? That’s what this blog reminds me of.

If you work in the fashion industry, NEVER use an umbrella. Always, and always use your coat when it rains. :)
April 16, 2009 at 10:46 pm
heels, heels, heels!
April 16, 2009 at 10:56 pm

April 16, 2009 at 11:10 pm
there is something so lovely about the rain and how people navigate through it. it always seems cinematic to me. at least, these images make portray the situation as very cinematic. so pretty!
April 16, 2009 at 11:29 pm
i love all these pics. the 3rd one is now my wallpaper. makes me wish i was in Paris!
April 16, 2009 at 11:56 pm
These people in black outfits make very interesting photos–at first glance they look almost like silhouettes of negative space cut out of the photo rather than real people in the photo. Very cool effect.
Fashion-wise, though I am tired of the all-black look. I did it for several years and enough is enough!
April 17, 2009 at 12:30 am
paris is not always with rain! lol, i like this mood and the shape of closet
April 17, 2009 at 12:46 am
shoes in the first picture is so..not likin it. how her right feet is so off from the back.
April 17, 2009 at 12:58 am
The photos make me want to embrace rainy days by wearing all Black and walking in some heels. Love the boots. Beautiful Paris!
April 17, 2009 at 1:37 am
If looked at closely, the woman in the 2nd pic, has the most wonderful Martin Margiela shoes EVER !I’ve seen them here in Antwerp also in red and they are to die for !Now I want them even more !!
April 17, 2009 at 1:48 am
The first image is classic, beautiful!

April 17, 2009 at 4:20 am
Great heels in first pic, but they look a little big for her?
April 17, 2009 at 5:18 am
Love it. The things we do to protect out blow dries (blow outs).
April 17, 2009 at 5:36 am
Great! Anybody has an idea what bag the women in the second picture is wearing? My girl-friend would be very happy ;)Thank you, cordialement…
April 17, 2009 at 6:13 am
Please, the bag in the middle picture… Is Sofia Coppola’s for Louis Vuitton? Or what else? I want it! Thanks…
April 17, 2009 at 6:24 am
beautiful pix. i try to have such grace when walking in the rain, sans umbrella. hope the rain doesn’t ruin the shoes. they are so pretty, especially the 1st pair.
April 17, 2009 at 6:43 am
Great sihouettes and i always love your walking/non-posed shots. I like the idea of a whole series of weather-influenced photgraph; the way people adapt their clothing for shelter or shade. i LOVE the top pic with those killer shoes – she means business, rain or no rain you can just tell!

April 17, 2009 at 6:46 am
Loving the all black ensemble! Might try it someday in rainy Irish weather, but first must get one of those sexy black knee high boots.
April 17, 2009 at 6:57 am
mm, love such dynamic pictures!
April 17, 2009 at 7:20 am
does anyone know the bag label and name in the second photo? so simple and chic…longchamp??
April 17, 2009 at 7:56 am
I’ll have to remember to start buying my shoes 1/2 a size big . . .
Dan in Richmond
April 17, 2009 at 8:18 am
Looking good in the rain, and not a pesky umbrella in sight. Excellent
April 17, 2009 at 8:42 am
#1 just soared to the top of “my favorite sart pictures” list. it’s a hollywood moment, brought back down to earth by the fact that the shoes (and OH, the shoes!) are a size too big. magnifique!
April 17, 2009 at 9:45 am
kate lanphear looks so hip!nancy
April 17, 2009 at 9:49 am
great little series!
April 17, 2009 at 10:16 am
Allow me to be the only nay sayer – In the first picture the shoes look to be about a size to big for the wearer. if they didn’t have straps she would probably walk out of them.
April 17, 2009 at 10:32 am
all shoes are amazine and all of them pull off walking in the rain so well.
April 17, 2009 at 10:45 am
Oh, the Plume in the second photo – why not protect it!? It looks like Box Calf. Why?! This causes me so much pain!!Gorgeous none the less, however!Oh, the first silhouette. Swoon! My heart is stolen!
April 17, 2009 at 10:49 am
Kate is always so amazing! Her purse-so cute, and not something I would picture her with. Great photos as usual!
April 17, 2009 at 11:59 am
Ah, there’s nothing quite like a French woman…
April 17, 2009 at 12:11 pm
Lovely series! They seem almost like ghosts.
April 17, 2009 at 12:18 pm
Three stunning photos.
April 17, 2009 at 12:42 pm
Her mother/sister/friend will kill her, when she gets that “borrowed” shoes back.
April 17, 2009 at 12:58 pm
I think they must just have better shoes in Paris.
April 17, 2009 at 1:11 pm
#1. Good#2. Better#3. Best
It’s mostly all black which requires mostly all my effort to examine. In this case I find the last picture quite feminine and sexy and therefore the best of the 3.
April 17, 2009 at 1:28 pm
the knee-high boots are stunning… she always has such a gorgeous look, can’t help but love it!
April 17, 2009 at 1:36 pm
You can never go wrong in all black! It instantly makes someone appear sophisticated and elegant. I really like the little touches of gold in all 3 pictures too. I never thought anyone could pull off the over-the-knee high boots, but this picture proves me wrong! She pulls it off quite well and it’s an understated sexiness, which I love.
April 17, 2009 at 2:12 pm
The first photo shoes ..don’t work for me..Loving the boots!!I have finally seen a pair of knee length boots with a nice tall heel and not even remotely stripper-ish!!
April 17, 2009 at 2:21 pm
Why the stigma with umbrellas? I understand that they’re not the most fashionable accessory, but if you’re traveling more than a few blocks, is your (not even waterproof) coat really going to keep you dry? I commute by bike, and if I don’t wear a raincoat on rainy days, I’m soaked by the time I reach work or class.
I’d rather look not-so-cute on my commute than have my fashionable ensemble be soggy for the part of the day when I’m indoors.
What’s the consensus on fashion vs. function here? It’s clearly not raining too hard in the photo, but if it were…
April 17, 2009 at 2:31 pm
Kate’s bag is Proenza Schouler and I’m obsessed…
April 17, 2009 at 2:40 pm
Re: the first photo. Her shoes may not be too big; rather, her foot may be too narrow–a problem that arises because women with super narrow feet are almost universally shunned by shoe makers. Note that her toes are overhanging her shoe on the lead foot as she presses forward. That her foot is probably wet and sliding around in all that extra width forces her foot forward–which wouldn’t happen if the shoes were narrow enough. Someone mentioned the straps on her shoes holding her in. Of course they do. Take it from someone with a 5A heel, without straps we narrow-feet type would leave a trail of shoes wherever we went.I hate shoes. The only good thing about winter is boots. Pull on a pair of sweatsocks before donning and those puppies don’t move.
April 17, 2009 at 4:11 pm
I’ve been dreading more rain here in NYC — now I’m inspired! Gold heels and all black … can’t wait!
April 17, 2009 at 4:41 pm

April 17, 2009 at 11:35 pm
they all have such great style and bring a certain freshness to the colour black…
as much as i love those miu miu pumps – and i do treasure mine… it sort of annoys me that they look too big! what a shame – but maybe she’s just walking fast and her feet are slipping.
April 17, 2009 at 11:58 pm
ahhh i need those metallic architectural heelss!!! life does not go on without them!!
April 18, 2009 at 12:21 am
The first photo is reminiscent of Umberto Boccioni’s futurist sculpture ‘Unique Forms of Continuity in Space.’ google it, you’ll see.
April 18, 2009 at 4:22 am
all black outfits..awesome
April 18, 2009 at 5:32 am

April 18, 2009 at 11:37 am
Lovely pics! The peep-toe pumps are beautiful but the worst thing I know is when you see people in too big shoes!
April 18, 2009 at 1:23 pm
I’m in love with the Proenza minaudière and the boots in the third!
April 18, 2009 at 1:41 pm
Thank you for bringing back the candid shots. I’ve missed them. Your framing of detail is wonderful. I don’t know how you do it, but your’re a natural!

April 19, 2009 at 7:26 am
I adore these rain walking photos. especially the last look is gorgeous, and what are those shoes in the first picture?love them!
April 19, 2009 at 9:32 am
what great moments!
April 19, 2009 at 11:17 am
WOW the first look is wonderful (it would be perfect, if the shoes weren’t so big)
I don’t like, instead, the second silhouette…I think it’s those trousers’ fault
Very cute the third look too
However none of these black silhouettes equal that of those two girls whom you photographed in Milan in January – pure Beauty!!
April 19, 2009 at 2:55 pm
Wow, I love the first picture!
April 19, 2009 at 5:07 pm
I think that the bag in the second pic is an Hermes Plume – gorgeous bag!
April 19, 2009 at 5:45 pm
I love the passion for fashion that the first shot reveals – that her love of those shoes is so great, wearing the wrong size is better than not having them at all! Gorgeous!
April 19, 2009 at 7:07 pm
That last shot is genius.
April 19, 2009 at 8:31 pm
Love them killers shoes :D
April 20, 2009 at 12:26 am

I have secretly loved thigh high boots ever since I first watched Pretty Woman, and I’m so happy they’re making a mainstream, non-just-for-hookers comeback! What an interesting series of photos.
April 20, 2009 at 5:42 am
I am pretty sure that the bag in the second pic is a classic Prada in Calfskin-saffiano…
April 20, 2009 at 11:28 am
Love the bag!!! Fashion, beep beep
April 20, 2009 at 11:36 am
The fancy shoes made my eyes roll back in my head and I felt a pulsing warmth all over my body. Wow. Thank you.
April 20, 2009 at 12:53 pm
Love the pumps in the first pic! I think their either Miu Miu or Prada because I’ve seen them before in an editorial…
The Clever Pup
April 20, 2009 at 1:15 pm
Err..if the shoe fits, wear it!
April 20, 2009 at 4:35 pm
Love the shots!! There’s something similar in this post, each picture has something metallic or gold in it that stands out midst the rainy weather. In pic 1 the shoes, pic 2 the bracelets, pic 3 the bag, ring and buttons.
Well put together.
April 20, 2009 at 5:26 pm
Anonymous 12:21AM – You’re amazing! I looked up the bronze sculpture you mentioned and I’m STUNNED at how similar the forms are. Sart will be so thrilled… I’m swooning over your perception. Thank you; I put them side by side as my desktop wallpaper.

April 21, 2009 at 2:31 am
The shoes in the first photo are amazing, apparently the woman loved them so much she’d wear a size too big for her.
April 21, 2009 at 6:20 am
They/ you make it look so fashionable and beautiful ”running away” from the rain with their jackets all over them in that way.. *sighs*
April 21, 2009 at 9:03 am
Fuzzy hair – no!Black legs – yes!Winter is easy.
April 21, 2009 at 3:12 pm
