April 17, 2009 at 9:06 am
It’s like: the best of the eighties + dicretion and restraint = Vika in Paris. Love her nonchalance too. Great post!

love love love. that coat with shoulder pads is…hmmmm…Not a word to describe, I love it so much!
April 17, 2009 at 9:34 am
like how the gold belt makes the trim of her aviators really show up
April 17, 2009 at 9:47 am
the big-shoulder look isn’t really my thing, but i appreciate how she really pulls off the proportions of this silhouette without completely losing her own shape. and that gleam of her gold belt completely anchors the look.
April 17, 2009 at 9:49 am
April 17, 2009 at 9:52 am
Well-composed of various angular shapes. I especially like the belt…a little gold is needed to break up all the black, and this one is the perfect finishing touch! Bravo!
April 17, 2009 at 9:56 am
great sartorial accomplishment…she also wears my favourite type of tights!
April 17, 2009 at 10:00 am
It is Black again… The accesories, the belt and shades add a nice touch to an otherwise plain outfit.
April 17, 2009 at 10:08 am
looks good….but also looks like a jedi warrior
April 17, 2009 at 10:19 am
Only a woman as beautiful as this one could pull off this hairstyle. The magnificent belt cuts the somberness of this outfit. Such art in this photograph – the balconies, the man’s silhouette in the background, the green plants, and that she is standing on a white square/rectangle…
April 17, 2009 at 10:21 am
Everything about this photo is perfect! This woman is an enigma… a beautiful one. From the aviators to the heels this woman is a force to be reckoned with. I love this image. Tres bien.
April 17, 2009 at 10:39 am
star trek anyone?
April 17, 2009 at 10:42 am
This is so perfect it makes me want to giggle. So Paris.
April 17, 2009 at 10:51 am
She can totally rock this look! Very beautiful and strong.
April 17, 2009 at 11:01 am
Makes you wonder 1.what she’s thinking of, and 2.where she got that belt from.
April 17, 2009 at 11:18 am
Well, she is undoubtedly beautiful, and all the accessories are great and chic, but did we really need to have the eighties back? And the padded shoulders? REALLY????? Beside that all the rest of the look I find it stunning as her distant expression.
April 17, 2009 at 11:53 am
This is a smokin’ hot look.I love how the 40′s vibe is pulled of with the 80′s big shoulders and the rockabilly hairdo. So many pretty ladies with short haircuts out there…makes me want to chop it all off and give it a try!
April 17, 2009 at 12:04 pm
Holy David Bowie, Batman!
But those shoes…wow.
April 17, 2009 at 12:08 pm
Hi, I love all your photos. I was looking through NPR this morning and thought of you while reading this:
April 17, 2009 at 12:13 pm
I adore this look! The simplicity combined with the aggressive 80s edge is to die for.
April 17, 2009 at 12:23 pm
She looks a little bit like Batman…
April 17, 2009 at 12:36 pm
no silhouette should be put to rest. everything is cyclical.
this ensemble proves that power and the feminine are one in the same.
April 17, 2009 at 1:05 pm
She reminds me of Leslie Winer back in the Eighties. Remember her?
April 17, 2009 at 1:09 pm
I learned about the Sartorialist from Bill Cunningham’s On The Street feature on NYTimes. I am addicted to both!

Looks unashamedly 80′s, and normally that would make me hate an outfit – but this is just great. Topped off with a wonderful haircut.

April 17, 2009 at 3:37 pm
This is such a hot look. I love everything about it. Especially the hair.

April 17, 2009 at 4:07 pm
This is something I would definetly wear. So stylish and beuatiful!
April 17, 2009 at 5:09 pm
i have found my style icon! love the mix of masculine hair and stance with the quirky, feminine outfit. i generally have doubts about how well wardrobe reflects one’s personality, but is there any doubt that this woman is amazingly cool, intelligent and interesting?
April 17, 2009 at 5:41 pm
Love everything about this! Very androgynous.
April 17, 2009 at 6:42 pm
She is Russian couturiere – Vika Gazinskaya!
April 17, 2009 at 7:01 pm
Do you know she’s from Russia? I almost always like her style
April 17, 2009 at 7:08 pm
The gold belt is perfection matched with the black outfit. Such a small accessory can do so much! Stunning.
April 17, 2009 at 7:32 pm
She’s so Bladerunner. love it.
April 17, 2009 at 7:57 pm
wow, I absolutely love it…the shoulders, the lapel, the shoes and the belt. I want it all!
April 17, 2009 at 8:24 pm
Could she BE any cooler? I think not.
April 17, 2009 at 8:48 pm
Boss-eighties look. Nice shot aspect.
April 17, 2009 at 9:01 pm
That is one ugly coat. Those shoulders are clearly just hanging there empty. But the rest of the outfit, including haircut and shades, is great and suits her.
April 17, 2009 at 9:04 pm
April 17, 2009 at 9:34 pm
this is the best blog about trends! This girl is so cool and femenine
April 17, 2009 at 9:44 pm
No, no,no! I strongly dislike this look. Shoulder pads? Aviators? And that hair?
April 17, 2009 at 10:37 pm
interesting but… i hope not with the shoulders. the 80s are still too close for me and i cringe every time it’s tapped for inspiration.
April 17, 2009 at 11:26 pm
Ahh I love Vika! One of the best people to streetstyle ahaha :D
April 18, 2009 at 1:04 am

April 18, 2009 at 6:08 am
its smoking hot. it just is.
April 18, 2009 at 6:29 am
if you “cut up her head” the outfit looks like meryl streep in “the devil wears prada”
little black cat
April 18, 2009 at 8:17 am
What a fantastic look! Everything works together so perfectly.
April 18, 2009 at 8:34 am

April 18, 2009 at 3:02 pm
For me, the belt and the glasses totally bump this outfit up from simple chic to HOT. I’m really digging that belt.

The shapes echo each other, but to what effect?
Is the economy getting to The Sartorialist?

April 19, 2009 at 1:38 am
Vika is always bad ass. She can never do wrong in my book. I don’t know if anyone agrees with me but I feel like Vika always finds the best way to meet architectural with organic. She is rad!
April 19, 2009 at 4:59 am
the shoulders really are amazing!
April 19, 2009 at 6:25 am
That belt…It’s the key.
April 19, 2009 at 7:08 am
black = chici love it!!!
April 19, 2009 at 8:30 am
The shots of Vika here are always instructive, but I guess I’m the only one who finds this one, especially the hair, somewhat dreary. Maybe it’s the color, or the fact that we’re in April now?
April 19, 2009 at 8:47 am
this is sooo cool !! I am dazzled by her outfit :D

April 20, 2009 at 8:14 am
top shoes, but what´s up with the hair?!
April 20, 2009 at 8:56 am
She reminds me of a lesbionic robot. Pretty awesome look. I love it !!!!! Or, should I be ridiculous and pretentious and say: j’adore cette femme lesbionique!
April 20, 2009 at 12:35 pm
It looks so forward yet modern and cutting edge! Love it! <3
April 20, 2009 at 12:43 pm
omg! stunning & adore her shoes.
April 20, 2009 at 2:40 pm
I was born in 89, so I missed the power shoulders the first time around. This look is austere, chic, and to me very fresh.
April 20, 2009 at 2:50 pm

April 23, 2009 at 4:47 pm
I always think about one thing when I see her: what will be the best for Vika – to be designer or stylist? In the the situation when the most of fashion's workers don't know what to wear – cause designers don't know what to produce in crisis( pure luxury, closer to client, low budget…), Vika shows high level of fashion passion, which became more & more rare… So sometimes She looks better than her collections)Respect from Russia.
April 24, 2009 at 11:10 am
Love. Very Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow with a hint of 80s Cold War tension and hint of Jetson future world. Bad ass. Feminine. Nonchalant. Elegant. Dangerous. She rocks.
April 25, 2009 at 9:55 am
April 25, 2009 at 2:57 pm
Near perfect, not quite though, simply because I don’t think the whole shoulder thing is working on this.
