Wow, he’s so good looking.
April 20, 2009 at 10:39 am
Waris? Still laughing at his role in The Darjeeling Limited. Frankly, I find his clothing well fitting but drab. Is that a fashion or a religious choice?

I really like his pocket square, but the rest I am like, no. Jorge from WPB

April 20, 2009 at 11:22 am
I love this guy so much.
April 20, 2009 at 11:25 am
Yup, it’s the train conductor from the Darjeeling Express. The one who had an American accent and hated snakes.
April 20, 2009 at 11:27 am
What a sick sikh
April 20, 2009 at 11:29 am
Wow – what a beautiful, elegant (and talented) man! i love that suit on him and the contrast of his black turban and beard with the other colours, its striking but subtle at the same time. It’s a great photo, Sart.
April 20, 2009 at 11:31 am
Waris Ahluwalia is one of my serious actor crushes
April 20, 2009 at 11:32 am
I like how he has draped his scarf like a turtleneck… his pose is great… the jacket kind of long… the yellow cabs in the background provide a nice contrast..
April 20, 2009 at 11:39 am
waris is AMAZING. such a stud!
i’m half sikh and its so inspirational to see that he hasn’t lost touch with his background.
April 20, 2009 at 11:45 am
So this would be a chic sikh?
April 20, 2009 at 11:46 am
It’s hard to say that the turban may one day become the thing!

April 20, 2009 at 11:58 am
A friend of Wes Anderson’s, Waris is also in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and is an accomplished jewler. His collection is titled House of Waris.

He WAS in the Darjeeling Limited, he also designs really beautiful jewelry!
April 20, 2009 at 1:19 pm
Ahluwalia! Creative guy. House of Waris has amazing jewelry! But, you’d have to go to India to find even more amazing jewelry and design. He’s catering to the tastes of the West. Nothing more.
April 20, 2009 at 1:22 pm
Beautiful picture! Look at the perfect line of his nose!!
April 20, 2009 at 1:37 pm

I love Waris Ahluwalia!
April 20, 2009 at 3:59 pm
I love that people were recognizing him from Darjeeling Ltd, but the first thought I had was Life Aquatic.. oh well.
The hankerchief in the pocket is a nice touch.
April 20, 2009 at 4:25 pm
I thought he looked familiar – he’s very sharp, very funny and very good looking :)

April 20, 2009 at 4:28 pm
I love the way his black headwrap and beard frame his face. Wearing lighter colors also draws focus to his face. Very fine sartorial tactics!
April 20, 2009 at 4:56 pm
April 20, 2009 at 4:59 pm
Such a beautiful man! I love his turban and the clean simplicity of that suit. It would be great to have a CU of his pocket hankie.
April 20, 2009 at 5:08 pm
haha this guy is funny. Love him in Darjeeling Limited.
April 20, 2009 at 5:12 pm
This dude is cool, cool, cool. I really like his suit. There is something about it that draws you closer. Like what the heck is it anyway, looks like a fine wale corduroy. Great bluish tint, love the camel scarf and the pull-it-together hanky. I wish I could wear a turban now.
April 20, 2009 at 5:16 pm
I need him with me here in Sacramento (and what I wouldn’t give to have that happen . . . sigh)
April 20, 2009 at 5:37 pm

April 20, 2009 at 6:48 pm
Waris is so fine *blush*
April 20, 2009 at 7:17 pm
I love his pocket square! He is awesome!
April 20, 2009 at 7:32 pm
This is a bespoke suit, of italian origin? I would assume a tailor from naples. i doubt this is a suit from Norton and sons, because it is not highly structured.
April 20, 2009 at 7:36 pm
that is one awesome indian. represent! ive never heard of this guy before?
April 20, 2009 at 7:38 pm
can i say how much i adore his pocket square? reminds me of the dresses from Prada 07. Wonderful!
April 20, 2009 at 7:51 pm
I love how that little handkerchief jumps off that drab suit. This is a religious uniform of sorts, but it reminds me of Catholic high school when we would find unique ways of self expression through the drab uniform. Shoes, hair, a belt, suspenders, anything we could find to adorn our uniforms became our mode of identifiable self expression. Fashion is loud even when it whispers.

He’s gorgeous and trim. What’s not to like!…
April 20, 2009 at 8:42 pm
Love it! The detail of the pocket hankie…the tasteful scarf….the whole outfit screams “dignified, elegant, classy”. Great pick! I love how it’s simple but quite a statement.
April 20, 2009 at 9:19 pm

April 20, 2009 at 10:49 pm
I wonder what kind of….’thing’ he’s got in his jack-pocket. He looks dapper!
April 21, 2009 at 12:28 am
It wouldn’t be a style blog without Waris.
He seems to be appearing everywhere these days.
April 21, 2009 at 12:42 am
Now that’s PRESENCE!!! It seems fewer men possess that now. Applause!

So very handsome. Sigh.
April 21, 2009 at 6:53 am
April 21, 2009 at 8:33 am
The worn-ness of the suit would otherwise seem daggy, but the decorative pocket handkerchief shows he knows exactly what he’s doing… as does his stance. This pic also shows how dusky and muted colours can be brought out by a bit of black accessorising – whether that’s a turban or a handbag or the colour of your hair. I wonder what shoes he’s wearing…
April 21, 2009 at 9:47 am
no, this is not a “religious uniform of sorts.” i know plenty of sikhs who wear bright colors. all the religious comments above are irrelevant, particularly when the commenter does not know what he/she is talking about. true, none of the comments were disrespectful per se, but please don’t make judgments about something you don’t know.
April 21, 2009 at 9:50 am
I knew I’d seen this guy somewhere before! Great combination of colours. Obviously the beard is a religious choice, but it does lend a touch of class, too.
April 21, 2009 at 9:53 am
So awesome! The turban makes everything look elegant and effortless
April 21, 2009 at 1:38 pm

April 22, 2009 at 6:23 pm
April 22, 2009 at 6:25 pm
I’m not really liking his outfit actually, but that is irrelevant because this is WARIS!! he looks good regardless
April 22, 2009 at 7:44 pm
re the “rocking the headgear” comment, i don’t think he is wearing the dastaar merely as a fashion choice.
he does look great, though!
April 22, 2009 at 11:29 pm
wtf are any of you talking about? it’s waris. he’s beautiful, smart, talented, and always dapper.

That´s why N.Y. is amazing… So many cultures, so many different people in just one place. Great photo! No fashion victim at all…Lilly B.
April 23, 2009 at 10:46 pm
Waris is soooo chic…he’s muse material!
April 24, 2009 at 12:06 am
Thought I recognized him. His mother was my next door neighbor when I moved to NYC. Nicest woman in Brooklyn and she gushed endlessly about her son.
April 24, 2009 at 12:30 am
I’ve always wondered whether men with super long beards wear scarves and if so, how do they wear them. Does the beard go inside the scarf or out? From the photo, I guess beards go in.
April 24, 2009 at 4:24 am
Waris!!!!!! love his work !
April 24, 2009 at 8:24 am
love this guy !
April 25, 2009 at 10:35 am

April 25, 2009 at 6:01 pm
Just when I thought this blog didn’t feature well-dressed men, you had to go and prove me wrong.
April 25, 2009 at 9:43 pm
Yes, awesome. The colours work extremely well. Excellent shot too — his character almost seems superimposed on the background.
April 27, 2009 at 1:16 am
I am TOTALLY diggin’ the Eastern improvisation on the Western “power suit”!
April 27, 2009 at 9:25 am
Darjeeling Ltd. is definitely the first thing I thought of. And The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
April 27, 2009 at 1:29 pm

He was also in in “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” by Wes Anderson
March 25, 2013 at 5:57 pm
This beautiful, I just have to say this because he is, noble man is just perfect. He looks like a professional model, so cool and self-assured. He also reminds me of “Kip” the character from the movie “The English Patient”.
April 4, 2013 at 7:11 pm
shit! he is hot
