Minimalist and chic!!
May 15, 2009 at 10:47 am
I like the mix of black and brown with a shock of white. Has an 80′s vibe for me — maybe it’s the shoes, sunglasses, and Annie Hall nod.
I do love the balenciaga bag…
May 15, 2009 at 10:50 am
she is very elegant !
May 15, 2009 at 10:51 am
Hate the bottom half….reminds me of sweatpants w/ heels..no thanks.
May 15, 2009 at 10:53 am
she’s a demonstration of the proper way to use staples.

yet another spin on the feminine/masculine look i love. the puffed hem on her pants and elongated/truncated proportions of her suit jacket are brilliant!

I am seeing more and more black and dark colors emerging as a spring/summer look. Also, the forecast for fall winter is brighter colors like gold and auburn. Flip flop the palette…I like.
May 15, 2009 at 11:56 am
Very stylish. Great personality to carry this off; the white cuffs, green pumps and a brown bag. I guess the fact she is tall and slim, makes the whole scene look soothing to eyes.

May 15, 2009 at 2:58 pm
I’m not sure that I could ever wear something this monochrome and masculine, from the shapes to the hair, but she pulls it off wonderfully.
I especially love the heels with tights under the pants.
May 15, 2009 at 3:25 pm
love the sky in this shot.. also, the way her pants bunch at the bottoms is oddly alluring..
May 15, 2009 at 3:31 pm
Ohh, I love her bag!
May 15, 2009 at 3:33 pm
I bet she’s wearing YSL
May 15, 2009 at 3:47 pm
Jil Sander meets YSL and has the most beautiful baby ever. Perfect.

May 15, 2009 at 7:54 pm
oooh la la…tres chic!!
May 15, 2009 at 8:19 pm
I like this…you could pull it on fast and still look like a million! The best ones always make it seem so effortless. Sigh.
May 15, 2009 at 9:35 pm
I am so psyched to see the brown bag/ black rest of outfit combo in this photo and Consuelita below. I predict this again in the Fall and a bit more tweed and rough boots a la Burberry. This will be the 80′s redux, not the neon/Flock of Seagulls looks that have gotten some minor attention from those seeking attention!
May 15, 2009 at 9:43 pm
Toronto does *not* know how to do black and grey. It’s so DRAB here. Now this….THIS, PEOPLE, IS HOW TO DO (dramatic pause)- BLACK. AND. GREY.
May 15, 2009 at 10:13 pm
This quite reminds me of what I wore yesterday, what a coincidence!
I’ve definitely adopted black as my color for the summer; in the right fabrics it is divine.
May 15, 2009 at 10:37 pm
PARIS – PARIS…
May 15, 2009 at 10:39 pm
I like this a lot. It’s soooo simple and perfect. The gray shoes are suberb.

May 15, 2009 at 11:30 pm
Love this look – so Gywneth Paltrow 90s.. I love the heavy hosiery – opaques just woudln’t have worked.Emsea xx
May 15, 2009 at 11:55 pm
I love that they’re using your shots in NY Times!! And I particularly love the article this week about men’s-style dressing for women, being the occasional cross-dresser that I am. I feel very sexy in a double breasted jacket cut close to the bod with somewhat wide lapels — Think Bowie circa 1977 – the Thin White Duke sort of thing. Or even Mic Jagger around that time.
That shot of Anastasia Barbieri is one I’ve clipped from your blog to include in my collection of personal favorites and style inspirations. Clean, lean and mean. She’s sexy without being overt. Really a beautiful girl.
As for the above shot, to be honest I’m not loving this particular suit. Perhaps it’s the fabric, the shininess of it that calls to mind something a girl at the make-up counter might wear. I’m sure she’s chic and French and all that stuff but I need more than that…. this ain’t doin’ it for me.
May 16, 2009 at 12:36 am
People must rip through their high heels walking in – is that decomposed granite? gravel?
She looks good, a very strict presentation.
May 16, 2009 at 2:00 am
a stunning photo. bravo
May 16, 2009 at 2:01 am
A little too clean.
May 16, 2009 at 2:15 am
love the basic elegance and great style black and white
May 16, 2009 at 3:53 am
i love the way she softens the severe, masculine shirt and jacket with attention to her shoes and elegant ankles. it’s a great sihouette.
May 16, 2009 at 4:08 am
that bag is an eyesore.
it draws away from the ensemble. which is flawless.
the color isn’t the problem, people. it’s old and and tired looking. that outfit is brand new.

I LOVE this bag- the balenciaga lariat. so soft, so supple, so roomy, so…i could go on. Do NOT like this office chic look tho. i think the suit shouldve been fitted, then perhaps it might have worked.
May 16, 2009 at 9:39 am
This outift is just perfect. She looks great. It is the perfect way to wear the boyfriend style.

May 16, 2009 at 1:43 pm
Very class & elegant…Love the silhouette/mix
May 16, 2009 at 2:03 pm
I love her style and her sunglasses, of course.
May 16, 2009 at 2:06 pm
I love this outfit but do not care for the bag choice. Nothing wrong with the colour but the style of that balenciaga just throws it off, and it doesn’t seem in a deliberate way either. ANYWAY though.. this outfit is really superb.
May 16, 2009 at 2:21 pm
Perfection. I simply love this blog! So much inspiration <3
May 16, 2009 at 2:59 pm

I like this bag :)) really good
May 17, 2009 at 12:06 pm
It’s so quintessentially chic, walking through the Jardin de Tuilleries ( at least I think that’s where she’s walking:) looking effortlessly French. Love this
May 17, 2009 at 12:35 pm
I absolutely adore the combination of the masculine and feminine in this shot. It is absolutely the perfect balance and completely a fashion forward look.
May 17, 2009 at 1:33 pm

This sort of feminised menswear reminds me a lot of Mario Moya’s F/W 2009 collection- Zac Posen’s former head pattern maker’s debut collection is absolutely stunning. http://www.mariomoya.com
May 18, 2009 at 3:53 pm
she does indeed look a bit like CALISTA FLOCKHART
love the balenciaga.
May 18, 2009 at 5:34 pm
The pants with the blazer and the tights with heels…Very nice! Very chic.

May 19, 2009 at 2:22 am
i love it.
May 19, 2009 at 5:31 am
i usually wear clothes like her when i am in not my best mood..and i feel comfy in such clothes..she’s sweet..
May 19, 2009 at 11:37 am
I like the look as a whole, but wish she’d taken off the black socks and showed a hint of ankle off. I love it, but don’t like it at the same time, I think it’s the trousers that just don’t look as luxe as the rest of the outfit..Love the balenciaga though, it makes up for the bits I don’t like!
