1st comment! woot. Gotta say that I love the shadowing in hte picture herself and the girl's simple but beautiful outfit. The shoes are definitely the highlight.
Nice, soft look. The length of the dress and the shoes are youthful. The simplicity of her hair and makeup exude a confident maturity. Refreshing to look at.
I hope that my daughter will embrace this type of tastefulness.
Oh, what a great set up for this picture! The first thing I noticed was her pearl lariat, an old-fashioned accessory in this modern mix. I bet she is cool in that dress and Florence can be boiling in the summer but she better watch that open bag; pickpockets are rampant there. That's not a slap, it's the truth.
Absolutely gorgeous! I really, really want to touch her dress, it looks so soft and the front pleats look perfect. I love the pearls as well! Simplicity at its best.
wow wow wow ! ! she's my friend, Marta! she is sooo happy to be on her favorite web site! :P she cannot live without fashion! beautiful shot! congrats to the model (:P) and to the photographer!! mary
Does no one else think that although girl and the shoes are gorgeous, the latter are a little OTT for the former. I you catch my drift. Youth is wasted on the young.
Not entirely sure, but I think her dress might be a tunic from Zara; I was just in Italy and saw quite a few girls wearing it…It looks amazing as a dress on her!
she's really pretty, but she does not look like a high schooler at all…kids are really are growing up fast these days. i wish i looked this good when i was a teenager.
Stylish – having elegance or taste or refinement in manners or dress; "a little less posh but every bit as stylish as Lord Peter Wimsey"; "the stylish resort of Gstadd"
Styleless, unstylish – lacking in style or elegance; "a styleless way of dressing"; "expensive but styleless country tweeds"; "wearing unstylish clothes".
Maybe, I just like her dress and she is a pretty girl in Florence, Italy after all.
She would be still be pretty in an old pair of jeans and a tee-shirt.
Amazing style, especially for a girl in high school. i don't recall seeing any girls look like that when i was there! the Dom of Firenze also provides an excellent backdrop. I miss it there!
If only every high school girl that you saw..all dressed elegantly like this girl! of course..if that did happen then we probably wouldn't marvel at this picture but it would still be a good change! Me being in high school and having to see all the girls wear the same Hollister brand stuff is annoying when I really think of it. So to see this picture…it brightens my day up! check my fashion blog! http://thetrendydwarf.blogspot.com/
This is a gorgeous shot and the girl looks fabulous. It's relaxed, she's relaxed, which creates the same feeling in the viewer. A wonderful antidote to the uptight looks of the governor's island shots (not a criticism of the photos themselves, which are lovely, just on the looks. Glad they've gone for another year. (I can see it's a fun weekend for the participants – something beautifully communicated by the images – but I find the looks really appalling, esp. the two-tone shoes!)
Love the shoes and the necklace! Plus the lighting in this one is beautiful, just like the city of Florence! The girl looks so laid-back and happy. Gorgeous shot!
How, HOW, did you find this girl in THAT piazza, Sig. Sartorialist? When I was there it was overrun by Anglophone tourists. Did they all eat too-early dinners and go back to their hotels? (This looks like it was taken around 20:30, no?)
I work at zara and I recognise her outfit. The dress is zara, for sure and the shoes may be as well.. you can get them in bright blue and hot pink at zara. I love her outfit!
So many young girls think that they will look older if they dress like Britney Spears or Lindsey Lohan, i.e., trashy/slutty. This girl shows that she can dress simply, comfortably and with class, making her look much older and more sophisticated without looking like a tramp. Bravo to her. The only thing is that she is setting herself up for foot problems later in life if she wears shoes like that too often. It is not very fashionable to limp because of a bunion.
The shoes are surprisingly Jessica Simpson and the best part are the back, a zipper from the base of the heel to the ankle, they are surprisingly comfortable.
But she really does look way too grown up for a high schooler….Charming, efortlessly chic and elegant indeed, but I would say she´s in her mid-twenties.
Lovely 'transitional' look: not too young, not too old, just right for her age and stage, I'd say. Look, we're talking Italy here…
Beautiful coloring: the taupe, the shell, the brown. Sophisticated, without being too precious. I adore the shirtdress, the knotted necklace the largish bag.
Lovely young women in a dress that I wish I owned. Like her style, accessories, hair, and even the shoes (I'm no big fan of high heels, much less in Firenze, but I'll give in on this one.) Past all that, fabulous photo in elegant light – or elegant photo in fabulous light.
There is something fantastic about those shoes, not to mention the gorgeous background…but really, is all the bashing of high schoolers in general necessary, commenters? We are not all idiots who idolise Lindsay Lohan and would like to audition for a 'Girls Gone Wild' video, even if this is the way teens are depicted by the media.
The Shoes are from Sergio Rossi, not Target! Have exactly the same pair, and can guarantee they're the most comfortable ever… Target made a ripoff, but the store doesn't exist in Italy
In the best way possible I happen to think this girl is very high school! She looks like those kinds of girls who would cheat off me in AP Psych hahahah. Styles are changing, and this outfit should be no surprise to anyone 18 and under. She seems confident nonetheless!
i am a little surprised by all the comments about "amazing style".. I think she looks great and oozes confidence but this is a very European look, i wore something similar in Dublin yesterday .. it would not be considered high fashion here. (not to take away from the fact that this girl looks great though)
Wow, she has great style for a high school student. I don't remember ever dressing that well… Great photography also. I like the play of light and shadow on the girl. Very nice all up.
The Dress is from ZARA but the shoes although they look like a pair they have in blue and pink are NOT from ZARA. I think the most interesting thing about ZARA clothes is that a lot of the pieces you have to see them on to really appreciate them. If you have the vision for yourself than you will never leave the store empty handed and unhappy.
my shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have those shoes too!! i bought them in italy!!! woooow…and my mum didn't wanna to buy me the shoes…now…she will have to admit her almost mistake!! ^_^

Being stylish…
Stylish – having elegance or taste or refinement in manners or dress; "a little less posh but every bit as stylish as Lord Peter Wimsey"; "the stylish resort of Gstadd"
Styleless, unstylish – lacking in style or elegance; "a styleless way of dressing"; "expensive but styleless country tweeds"; "wearing unstylish clothes".
Maybe, I just like her dress and she is a pretty girl in Florence, Italy after all.
She would be still be pretty in an old pair of jeans and a tee-shirt.

I work at zara and I recognise her outfit. The dress is zara, for sure and the shoes may be as well.. you can get them in bright blue and hot pink at zara. I love her outfit!

Only in Florence would you find a high schooler this chic. Effortless and gorgeous, and so Italian..love her.

Not a huge fan of the dress, but that can be fixed with a belt. I love the shoes and the bag.

The shoes are surprisingly Jessica Simpson and the best part are the back, a zipper from the base of the heel to the ankle, they are surprisingly comfortable.

Kudos to a young woman for having the confidence to pull off something chic, and not just following the trends of teens.
Love the shoes! I'm pretty sure Sergio Rossi can do no wrong.

The most beautiful city in the world.
Great light.

In the best way possible I happen to think this girl is very high school! She looks like those kinds of girls who would cheat off me in AP Psych hahahah. Styles are changing, and this outfit should be no surprise to anyone 18 and under. She seems confident nonetheless!

shoes are definitely Zara, i have them!
i am a little surprised by all the comments about "amazing style".. I think she looks great and oozes confidence but this is a very European look, i wore something similar in Dublin yesterday .. it would not be considered high fashion here.
(not to take away from the fact that this girl looks great though)

The Dress is from ZARA but the shoes although they look like a pair they have in blue and pink are NOT from ZARA. I think the most interesting thing about ZARA clothes is that a lot of the pieces you have to see them on to really appreciate them. If you have the vision for yourself than you will never leave the store empty handed and unhappy.

Have the shoes, but they're BCBG.
The straps are all elastic so they're really comfortable especially because i have narrow feet.
Nobody seemed to notice the little touches like the rolled sleeve and the watch. Really pulled the look together and showed her personality.
