1st comment! woot. Gotta say that I love the shadowing in hte picture herself and the girl's simple but beautiful outfit. The shoes are definitely the highlight.

June 18, 2009 at 8:34 am
Is it the vantage point? Is it the lighting? She certainly has all the possibilities, for sure.
I never would've guessed this young madam was only a teeny bopper…! she oozes sohisticated style!xxx
I'm also in love with the lighting!xxx
June 18, 2009 at 8:35 am
I would love to know where that dress is from.
June 18, 2009 at 8:36 am
Gorgeous! Love the simple knotted pearls, neutral palette and those shoes.
June 18, 2009 at 8:37 am
Wow, absolutely gorgeous! Love the bag, dress & shoes, such a casual yet elegant dressed up yet relaxed look! :)xx

I love her outfit. Was she going to class dressed like this? I really like it.
June 18, 2009 at 8:45 am
This girl could be the reason why a lot of young men never miss class.
June 18, 2009 at 8:47 am
So not fair that a high school student can have such style. What happened to the days of deliciously bad teenage fashion? Just me?
Gossips made me famous
June 18, 2009 at 8:48 am
el blog es genial! ^^
June 18, 2009 at 8:50 am

June 18, 2009 at 8:55 am
She's gorgeous – the soft colors look stunning on her. This entire picture has a lovely watercolor quality.
June 18, 2009 at 9:01 am
this looks ideal for a breezy day. it'd def be my uniform.
June 18, 2009 at 9:03 am
Nice, soft look. The length of the dress and the shoes are youthful. The simplicity of her hair and makeup exude a confident maturity. Refreshing to look at.
I hope that my daughter will embrace this type of tastefulness.
June 18, 2009 at 9:05 am
Wow-HS student?-i sure didn't look like that in HS-she looks like she could be someone's wife
that's a little too grown
June 18, 2009 at 9:06 am
a teenager w/o shorts and flip-flops? gasp.
a female teenager who poses alone and looks [gasp] confident.

June 18, 2009 at 9:16 am
Love the greys in the photo.
June 18, 2009 at 9:28 am
Really pretty shoes she's got there!
June 18, 2009 at 9:32 am
Oh, what a great set up for this picture! The first thing I noticed was her pearl lariat, an old-fashioned accessory in this modern mix. I bet she is cool in that dress and Florence can be boiling in the summer but she better watch that open bag; pickpockets are rampant there. That's not a slap, it's the truth.
June 18, 2009 at 9:34 am
Absolutely gorgeous! I really, really want to touch her dress, it looks so soft and the front pleats look perfect. I love the pearls as well! Simplicity at its best.
June 18, 2009 at 9:37 am
reminds me of blair from from gossip girl! its a simple outfit but she looks great here and her shoes are so awesome
June 18, 2009 at 9:45 am
One word: Perfection.
I love it! A bit grown up for a highschool student though!
June 18, 2009 at 9:52 am
Does anybody know where the shoes are from?
June 18, 2009 at 10:01 am
I don't remember gals like that when I was in high school. Nice shot! Beautiful lighting.
June 18, 2009 at 10:03 am
Wow, wow, wow… those shoes, those shoes, those shoes!!!
The whole outfit is pretty impeccable…hi-skool or adulthood.
June 18, 2009 at 10:06 am

June 18, 2009 at 10:25 am
she is so chic for a high schooler! this is a beautiful picture!
This kid is too cool for school, class is definitely dismissed!
June 18, 2009 at 10:29 am
This high school student has more class than half the grown hipsters in America… I love this.
June 18, 2009 at 10:33 am
On the whole I'm not convinced by sombre tones in the summer, but dove grey would be an exception.
June 18, 2009 at 10:36 am
She seems like she is having the time of her life and great shoes at the same time.
June 18, 2009 at 10:37 am

June 18, 2009 at 10:38 am
Does no one else think that although girl and the shoes are gorgeous, the latter are a little OTT for the former. I you catch my drift.Youth is wasted on the young.
June 18, 2009 at 10:40 am
i love everything about this…her hair down to her shoes…everything!
June 18, 2009 at 10:42 am
high-school, wow thats just wrong, shes splendid
June 18, 2009 at 10:49 am
Not entirely sure, but I think her dress might be a tunic from Zara; I was just in Italy and saw quite a few girls wearing it…It looks amazing as a dress on her!
June 18, 2009 at 10:52 am
June 18, 2009 at 10:53 am

June 18, 2009 at 11:05 am
It seems like style is part of Italian DNA :D Jealous!
June 18, 2009 at 11:20 am
the shoes are awesome
June 18, 2009 at 11:29 am
she's really pretty, but she does not look like a high schooler at all…kids are really are growing up fast these days. i wish i looked this good when i was a teenager.

June 18, 2009 at 11:53 am
Beautiful, although the shoes would have been strictly forbidden in my high school (Catholic).
June 18, 2009 at 12:12 pm
I love her dress!
June 18, 2009 at 12:14 pm
When I look at that picture, I keep expecting Chris Hansen to show up with a camera crew…

June 18, 2009 at 12:25 pm

Sophie, the Barton Girl
June 18, 2009 at 12:33 pm
Beautiful photo! She's got 'understated chic' down to a fine art and the colours are so warm I can almost feel the sun on my skin…Just perfect.
June 18, 2009 at 12:38 pm
I love that dress. And the fact that it's shapeless is made up by her incredible shoes.
She looks like Keira Knightly.
Fabulous for high school.
She'll be a great grande damme.
June 18, 2009 at 12:41 pm
haha…oh lordy lord…i was a fashion disaster as a teen…no regrets however cause i tried everything….she looks great though!

June 18, 2009 at 1:56 pm
a stylish two comma kid
the shoes are good
June 18, 2009 at 2:22 pm
Stylish – having elegance or taste or refinement in manners or dress; "a little less posh but every bit as stylish as Lord Peter Wimsey"; "the stylish resort of Gstadd"
Styleless, unstylish – lacking in style or elegance; "a styleless way of dressing"; "expensive but styleless country tweeds"; "wearing unstylish clothes".
Maybe, I just like her dress and she is a pretty girl in Florence, Italy after all.
She would be still be pretty in an old pair of jeans and a tee-shirt.
Because she has style.
June 18, 2009 at 2:27 pm
The shirt-dress is definitely from Zara – saw it earlier today!
As usual, great shot and wonderful (early evening?) lighting!
June 18, 2009 at 2:33 pm
Love her dress! I have those same shoes…. :)
June 18, 2009 at 2:46 pm

June 18, 2009 at 3:36 pm

Amazing style, especially for a girl in high school. i don't recall seeing any girls look like that when i was there! the Dom of Firenze also provides an excellent backdrop. I miss it there!

June 18, 2009 at 6:50 pm
I love your pictures, your style.
June 18, 2009 at 7:01 pm
If only every high school girl that you saw..all dressed elegantly like this girl! of course..if that did happen then we probably wouldn't marvel at this picture but it would still be a good change! Me being in high school and having to see all the girls wear the same Hollister brand stuff is annoying when I really think of it. So to see this picture…it brightens my day up! check my fashion blog! http://thetrendydwarf.blogspot.com/

June 18, 2009 at 7:47 pm
i lived in florence- the fact she is wearing those heels in those streets, is amazing in itself.
June 18, 2009 at 8:46 pm
Casual yet chic! Love the carefree nature captured in this shot.
June 18, 2009 at 9:20 pm
This is what high school in Florence looks like? Wow.
June 18, 2009 at 9:23 pm

Lucy in the Sky
cute! high heels to school?…definitely beats the flip flops at my school!
June 18, 2009 at 9:38 pm
The lighting in this is gorgeous!
June 18, 2009 at 10:02 pm
This is a gorgeous shot and the girl looks fabulous. It's relaxed, she's relaxed, which creates the same feeling in the viewer. A wonderful antidote to the uptight looks of the governor's island shots (not a criticism of the photos themselves, which are lovely, just on the looks. Glad they've gone for another year. (I can see it's a fun weekend for the participants – something beautifully communicated by the images – but I find the looks really appalling, esp. the two-tone shoes!)
June 18, 2009 at 10:05 pm
This is so cute!=]
June 18, 2009 at 10:30 pm
love her shoes! and such amazing photography!
June 18, 2009 at 10:45 pm

June 18, 2009 at 11:05 pm
I have those shoes! They're from Banana Republic.
June 18, 2009 at 11:07 pm
thank you young lady for – looking like a lady and especially for NOT standing in contrived pigeon toed fashion.
June 18, 2009 at 11:56 pm

June 19, 2009 at 12:00 am

June 19, 2009 at 1:54 am
How, HOW, did you find this girl in THAT piazza, Sig. Sartorialist? When I was there it was overrun by Anglophone tourists. Did they all eat too-early dinners and go back to their hotels? (This looks like it was taken around 20:30, no?)
June 19, 2009 at 2:14 am
High school? Awesome! Love her cool, easy look!

A few people asked about the shoes – they are either Sergio Rossi's or a high street version. Gorgeous whichever the case!
June 19, 2009 at 2:33 am
nice pic:) shoes – its Sergio Rossi, i think. Blue ones here:http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0XSI9ZNS1R8/SbP0FfmxEhI/AAAAAAAAAzQ/2aLgMmjhhsc/s400/zapatosZARA.jpg

June 19, 2009 at 4:16 am
Absolutely flawless style in my opinion! The shoes are definitely the finishing touch that make the whole outfit look amazing…
June 19, 2009 at 4:45 am

Only in Florence would you find a high schooler this chic. Effortless and gorgeous, and so Italian..love her.
Catherine like Deneuve
June 19, 2009 at 5:13 am
So many young girls think that they will look older if they dress like Britney Spears or Lindsey Lohan, i.e., trashy/slutty. This girl shows that she can dress simply, comfortably and with class, making her look much older and more sophisticated without looking like a tramp. Bravo to her.The only thing is that she is setting herself up for foot problems later in life if she wears shoes like that too often. It is not very fashionable to limp because of a bunion.
June 19, 2009 at 5:38 am
Not a huge fan of the dress, but that can be fixed with a belt. I love the shoes and the bag.
June 19, 2009 at 6:24 am
Yes the shoes are from zara, not bad!

Love The dress, the girl and those shoes. The style of the girl is just amazing.
I really want to have the dress and the SHOES !!
June 19, 2009 at 11:36 am
This is pure perfection to me… Go girl! Wish every high school student had your style ;)
June 19, 2009 at 12:47 pm
The shoes are surprisingly Jessica Simpson and the best part are the back, a zipper from the base of the heel to the ankle, they are surprisingly comfortable.
June 19, 2009 at 12:50 pm
Are those the Sergio Rossi zip back shoes by any chance? Gorgeous! I didn't know they came in black. I want to see her bag in full view lol.
June 19, 2009 at 12:54 pm
it's me…the girl of the picture thanks 4 the copliments!!I'm so glad that you enjoy my photo…yes the shoes are from Sergio Rossi the dress from zara…

June 19, 2009 at 2:31 pm
I wish I was this cool in high school!
June 19, 2009 at 3:30 pm
It's nice to see a young woman who isn't trying to look like she's 21 and auditioning for a Girls Gone Wild video. Brava!
Golden Girl Olive
June 19, 2009 at 3:44 pm
Kudos to a young woman for having the confidence to pull off something chic, and not just following the trends of teens.
Love the shoes! I'm pretty sure Sergio Rossi can do no wrong.
Sad eyed lady of the lowlands
June 19, 2009 at 4:22 pm
The most beautiful city in the world.
But she really does look way too grown up for a high schooler….Charming, efortlessly chic and elegant indeed, but I would say she´s in her mid-twenties.
June 19, 2009 at 5:22 pm

simply ITALIAN STYLE!
June 20, 2009 at 2:39 pm
god i want to marry with this girl
June 20, 2009 at 5:32 pm
Lovely 'transitional' look: not too young, not too old, just right for her age and stage, I'd say. Look, we're talking Italy here…
Beautiful coloring: the taupe, the shell, the brown. Sophisticated, without being too precious. I adore the shirtdress, the knotted necklace the largish bag.
June 20, 2009 at 11:15 pm
Lovely young women in a dress that I wish I owned. Like her style, accessories, hair, and even the shoes (I'm no big fan of high heels, much less in Firenze, but I'll give in on this one.) Past all that, fabulous photo in elegant light – or elegant photo in fabulous light.
June 21, 2009 at 1:43 am
No one dressed like this in my high school…she looks amazing!
E & A
June 21, 2009 at 3:49 am

June 21, 2009 at 6:02 am
She looks very effortless and I guess she shops at Aspesi, the dress could definitely be Aspesi…no?
June 21, 2009 at 8:00 am
June 21, 2009 at 11:16 am
wow…she looks so sophisticated, yet still so youthful? the neutral colours are an excellent combination…and I adore her simple hairstyle. beautiful.

June 21, 2009 at 6:17 pm
great photo – love the shoes. What an amazing backdrop…
June 21, 2009 at 11:41 pm
i want to be her friend :)
June 22, 2009 at 1:35 am
There is something fantastic about those shoes, not to mention the gorgeous background…but really, is all the bashing of high schoolers in general necessary, commenters? We are not all idiots who idolise Lindsay Lohan and would like to audition for a 'Girls Gone Wild' video, even if this is the way teens are depicted by the media.
June 22, 2009 at 4:52 am
I'm italian and well, this is very italian style :-)The dress is from Zara and the shoes are Sergio Rossi.Really love the outfit!
June 22, 2009 at 6:31 am
Christina said… I would love to know where that dress is from.8:35 AM

nice that girl looks so sexy she has a simple clothes i love the handbags same as the shoes…
June 22, 2009 at 5:55 pm
The Shoes are from Sergio Rossi, not Target! Have exactly the same pair, and can guarantee they're the most comfortable ever…Target made a ripoff, but the store doesn't exist in Italy
June 22, 2009 at 8:36 pm
In the best way possible I happen to think this girl is very high school! She looks like those kinds of girls who would cheat off me in AP Psych hahahah. Styles are changing, and this outfit should be no surprise to anyone 18 and under. She seems confident nonetheless!
June 24, 2009 at 2:35 pm
Ahhh, summer. Nothing like a cute summer dress in the city on a summer evening. Dress Launderette
June 25, 2009 at 7:05 am
simply smashing, I need those shoes!
June 27, 2009 at 12:21 pm
Those shoes are amazing! Love the whole look!
June 27, 2009 at 3:18 pm
I love everything about this, for myself. For the younger age, I would prefer flats with this.
June 27, 2009 at 5:00 pm
this picture inspired me. She looks so great. And her shoes, oh god love it !
June 28, 2009 at 10:49 am
shoes are definitely Zara, i have them!
i am a little surprised by all the comments about "amazing style".. I think she looks great and oozes confidence but this is a very European look, i wore something similar in Dublin yesterday .. it would not be considered high fashion here. Wow, she has great style for a high school student. I don't remember ever dressing that well…Great photography also. I like the play of light and shadow on the girl. Very nice all up.

That dress is from Zara. It's not expensive, under 30 euros. I have the same in red, it's simple and fresh, perfect for Florence heat :-)

Reminds of my days up at New England boarding school. This has such a prep edge to it. I would be surprised to see a look like this in J. Crew.

The Dress is from ZARA but the shoes although they look like a pair they have in blue and pink are NOT from ZARA. I think the most interesting thing about ZARA clothes is that a lot of the pieces you have to see them on to really appreciate them. If you have the vision for yourself than you will never leave the store empty handed and unhappy.

Have the shoes, but they're BCBG.The straps are all elastic so they're really comfortable especially because i have narrow feet.
Nobody seemed to notice the little touches like the rolled sleeve and the watch. Really pulled the look together and showed her personality.
