On the Street…..Kasia, PoznaÅ„, Poland
People who wear a lot of vintage usually fall into one of two camps. The first being the people who get into a very specific period, which can look great and inspiring but can get costume-y.
The other, usually younger high school/college-aged kids seem to tend toward the aggressively ugly mix of vintage. I get it, it’s rebellious, it’s a way to set themselves apart from their peers. Most new art movements are considered aggressively ugly when they start out. However, sometimes it’s nice to see vintage worn in a way that just makes a person look pretty.
I met Kasia at a local vintage shop in Poznań. I thought she looked so adorable in this little dress and somehow more subversive than the other kids doing obvious ugly.

Great New Shop……..Artisanal, Milan
So recently I got a little lost on my bike in the back streets of Milan. Â As I peddled and GPSed (not recommending that) I rolled by the fantastic new mens shoe store Artisanal. Â Lidia Pellecchia (pictured) has pulled together a great selection of Edward Green and mixed it with lesser known brands such as Saskia Wittmer, La Calzoleria di Max e Gio, Hidetaka Fukay, Antionio Aglietti, and Alfredo Rivetti.![]()

If you’re in Milan, you can find the shop at via Santa Marta, 15.

Book Signing in Your City?
I’m in full-0n book signing mode right now. New York, London, Paris, Barcelona were great and last weekend Philadelphia was fantastic!
This Fall we’re booked for Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Â a tour of the Far East and a few more European cities like Poznan, Poland. Domestically we’re close to finalizing Houston, Boston, and Nashville for signings.
My publisher will pay for one more domestic city ….but which one???
Maybe you guys can help me decide.

If You’re Thinking About….Black Socks, Black Shoes
Today I’m introducing a new feature “If You’re Thinking About…” While I was in Paris I was talking to a friend of mine who is a big fan of street style blogs in general. She told me she uses blogs for inspiration to put her looks together. I guess I already knew this, but for some reason the way she said it struck a chord in me, and made me realize that I have a wealth of images that, even though they’re easily searchable on the blog, still need a bit of editing to make it even easier to inspire the audience. That’s what I’m going to try and do with “If You’re Thinking About…” I don’t call it a trend page because I have no idea of these things are “trends.” It’s just things I seem to be seeing repeatedly.
What I think will make it fun is, you’ll see images from the street and the runway mixed together. You’ll also see an idea like white jeans shown not only on women but on men. I think we’re all mature enough now to look across gender lines for inspiration. Some posts might encompass up to 12 looks, some might only be two. But if it’s only two, it will have impact enough to mean something. Over the next couple weeks most of these “If You’re Thinking About….” posts will be comprised of mainly new images. They’ll also be mixed with season appropriate images from the last year or so.
I hope you enjoy these posts as much as I’ve enjoyed putting them together, and that they help you with the daily, painful morning decision of what to wear.

The Sartorialist Posters!!
Over the last several years I’ve gotten a ton of requests about buying prints of my photographs.
Unfortunately, the price of gallery prints is pretty expensive so I’ve teamed up with Net-A-Porter to offer a selection of 6 images as posters!
Some of my favorite fashion stars are included: Anna Dello Russo, Eva Fontanelli, Joanna Hillman, Ni’ma Ford…
Priced at $40 and sized 11×14, they’re great to frame for an apartment or especially a dorm!!
I hope you like them!

At Etro (from behind), Milan
It seems the most interesting things happening at Etro were from the back. ![]()
Notice how the built-in darts (fully-fashioned) and the zipper keep her “chunky knit” from making her literally look chunky.
