At Dries Van Noten
The take away from this show? Steal your Dad’s clothes, all your dad’s clothes.
His shirts, his jeans, his sportcoats are all fair game now.
The great thing about this show and this look is that you don’t have to wait till next Spring to dress like this. Layering oversized shirts, knits and sportcoats in Fall weights and textures can be a new and super cheap way to update your wardrobe.

Thanks to everyone who has spent some time at my blog. I feel like we are just at the beginning of a long, fun journey.

On the Street…Matt, Atlanta
Garance and I LOVED Atlanta and Savannah.
We will be going back again very soon, hopefully before the end of this year. The people were so cool and so chic. This first trip was like a recon to get prepared for our return. Also, thanks to everyone that attended my exhibit opening, that was fun.
I really loved the Sid Mashburn shop (Matt works there). They offer a great edit of fashion and style items for gentleman. I will have to go back to do a more in-depth report on the shop but if you are in the area I recommend checking it out.
At this very moment I’m in Milan (where I do most of my shopping) but I keep thinking about a great “special edition” Barbour coat that I saw in Atlanta, My world is turning upside- down!

The Role Model – Angela Ahrendts
Angela gave me my first real job when I arrived in New York over 20 years ago.
She is an absolute star to me.
If you’re thinking about getting into the business side of fashion, Angela Ahrendts should be your role model.
Last weekend The Wall Street Journal Magazine published a great profile on Angela. Here is the link Earning Her Stripes

So, what do I have to see in Atlanta and in Savannah???

On the Street….Ninth Ave., NYC
So what is more important, fashion or style?
I attended a few fashion shows today and I have seen some very “fashionable” young ladies. But, they always come up short when compared to the young ladies doing their own thing.
I know what this season’s trends are suppose to be and this young lady doesn’t really fit into any of those forecasts and yet she really stood out from all the other pretty young things.

I Had No Idea That Drive-In Theaters Were Still Around
I know I have been in the city for a while, but I had no idea that drive-ins were still out there across America. I was pleasantly shocked at how many I saw in upstate New York.
Going to the drive-in has to be one of my favorite memories growing up in Indiana. I thought going to a movie in my pj’s was pretty cool.
Are there drive-ins in Europe? If not, you have to visit one when you are in New York.

What Chic French Women Wear To Kayak, Adirondacks, NY
Yes, I was with the only woman on Friends Lake, in upstate New York, wearing leopard pants to kayak. It’s so fun to learn about the French concept of exercise and sporty activities.
Truth be told, Garance can say that she was with the only guy that tipped over his kayak twice while trying to take pictures. Now I know why they make underwater cameras silver, so you can see them while trying to fish them off of the bottom of the lake.
